- It’s now been more than a year since Paul and Annett moved into their amazing off-the-grid tiny house on wheels in Byron Bay, New South Wales. This couple was on a mission to set up their home to run entirely off of renewable energies, utilising solar power, rain water collection, solar water heating and even a bio gas generator.

There is a whole lot of technology and systems that go into making this very clever off grid tiny house design work, and sometimes that means making adjustments to the way in which we live in a home and reframing our relationship with energy. There are lots of lessons here for those of you who might considering going off the grid. I hope you enjoy this very special revisited tiny house tour!

I really appreciate these follow-up videos because it gives us an even more realistic perspective of what tiny house living feels like as a lifestyle.
Thanks Gen! Glad you enjoyed it.
And just think . . . peace with humanity ! Not a human, in sight. If you wanna connect, jus use technology !
A tiny home with wood, gardens, run off of renewable energies...Can I live here?
(And that kitchen.👌)
This is parked up in such a beautiful spot too!
@Craig X Not to mention the electro-magnetic fields with which solar panels pollute the environment. And the couple's travelling - due to the money saved - adds even more to their carbon footprint, so definitely not "guilt-free".
@@misspeach3755 So quaint to see comments from those who believe carbon is a pollutant.
@@misspeach3755 The typical Solar panel passes DC current from the panel to the charge controller. DC current produces minuscule amounts of electro-magnetic radiation. Google " electromagnetic radiation from dc current". In addition, the panels are sitting on top of a corrugated metal roof. That in itself will shield anything below it, especially if the roof is grounded. There are electro-magnetic currents in the earth below us that probably are far stronger than those produced by these panels. It is easy to be afraid. It is work to educate yourself to the science.
@Craig X This seem to be the way of the future and many want to go this route I'm thinking about it in terms of not paying electricity to big power company. So I'm curious...why would it be worst than electricity?
Hey all! I hope you enjoy this weeks revisited episode! It was so cool for us to catch up with our friends Paul and Annett and see how they are getting on with living in their off the grid tiny house on wheels a year down the track. When we first visited them they had only just moved into the home, and it’s great to see how it’s now working out for them! Very cool to revisit friends living Big! Paul and Annett seem really down to earth--literally. Happy to hear they will visit Japan soon (if they haven't already). I am an architect focused on sustainability for 25 years and I live in JAPAN! I started writing a guide for foreigners visiting Japan 20 years ago (I visited 38 times before moving here) and I edit it from time to time. Happy to share it with them (or anyone) if they are interested--or guide them to some of the coolest places in Tokyo. Best, James.
I'd love to see you revisit places more!
please what's the name of the song in the intro and thanks
What are the solar panels they are using here they seem to put out alot of power for so few Id really like to know thank u and great video as always Bryce
Thanks for another beautiful life story 🌸 You inspire us much much more you could imagine 🙏
Loved the vid!
REQUEST: could you do an episode about failures with tiny living? The people who went like "okay, we tried, but we DIDN'T like it?! The ones who moved back to big? Would be interesting to also see the other side.
SwirlingSoul: Agreed.
That will contradict with their Title!
Then the channel won't be call as "living big in a tiny house".
how about the bad things that happens when living in tiny house but still choose it? (maybe so we can prepare it beforehand in case that happens)
For people who built the tiny house and can't live in there or just for temporarily.. I believe they will rental those place in Airbnb.. the features in all of this houses it's unique experience
I remembered this. Soooo good knowing they're still going tiny and living BIG! Thank you, Bryce!
You're very welcome Simeon! They sure are. :)
Oh hey! Another Simeon! I don't think I've ever met anyone else with my name XD
I love watching these tiny house videos and Bryce is always a breath of fresh air and delight. With Bryce as the star of the show it’s easy to forget about the cameraman (woman) because the filming is so smooth, professional and unobtrusive - its as if one is there in the flesh sharing every moment! But this truly is the product of a very successful partnership. Well done Bryce, well done to both of of you. Thank-you for making the world a better and a kinder place. Greetings from Switzerland.
The beauty of this channel is that it not only captures the architecture but also the story and feelings with it .. different cultures, different people and so much to know and so much to feel.. thank you again... another amazing video.. keep uploading... Your videos are great ... Best recreation for me apart from studying..gives me a sense of freedom as if I m living there life..and maybe someday in the future..I'll also opt for an off grid lifestyle ...if it's possible ... lovely..all the best for your future videos also. ....👍👍👍👍💐💐🙋🙋
Someday when I move out I want to live like this.
Hope you do. All the best. Greetings from Switzerland.

✔This channel's content and production makes me happy. I always like the editing. Amazing outro drone shot too!
Drones!
Oh, yeah! I forget about those...
Thank you!!
@@HareDeLune Drones? I always thought it was Bryce just floating by, held aloft through sheer joy. The bloke's so mellow, I always imagine him simply floating off to the next tiny house house after the interview.

I forget about Drones, you forget about helicopters! XD
This is living! Simple. Stylish. Satisfying.
And again Bryce, a great show. Super to have so much sun power that you have electricity all year round! Here, Sweden, it's impossible. We have a long winter sun is not coming high enough to feed the panels with UV. So need other recourses, like a generator, and af course one that uses vegetable oil as fuel to keep the waste ass a minimu. Water that we have plenty. And fire wood also. What I actually want to say is that every spot on our mother world has its advantages and its problems. Thank you for sharing. Enjoy
Absolutely. One of the great things about Australia is the sunshine hours which definitely makes it very possible for people to live very comfortably on solar energy.
@Craig X I would love to live off grid and use nuclear energy, but I assume it's quite difficult to build a powerplant in my garden without it going wrong😂
@@livingbig Have you run across anyone obtaining energy from wind?
Perfect spot for a house. It is surrounded by trees💖💖👍
😍😍😍 When I see this happy and awaken couple, living their dream life, it gives me so much good feelings. And I know it is possible for me to. Thank you! Much love and blessings to everyone 💖
Cause of this channel we looking into doing something like this. Mine has to be a bit bigger with 4 kids but the planning is coming along nicely.
This is a the future I would love in my tiny house in the Philippines. I want to be able to go off grid as much as possible. Each idea has really been thought out so well. I am so impressed. So pleased for them.
So happy you revisited this couple. Super practical, comprehensive approach to living off grid. Thank you
holy moly that last shot at the end of the video with the sun was stunning! Also i'm glad they like their amazing home so much. Bryce you should do more of these revisiting videos. There are quite a few other homes that i'd love to get an update on!
That vista shot at the end is absolutely breathtaking.
Great timing as always. Coffee brewing and time to sit down for another awesome house. Thanks Bryce.
Ps...loved Byron Bay and Balina...lovely places to live.
Cheers Andy! It's just passed 7am here in Australia at the moment and I'm about to make a cup of coffee myself. :)
More Revisiting videos!! Loved that you came back to these guys to see how well they fare with tiny living. Thank you Bryce! Awesome content!
Love the revisits! You could do a whole series on revisits alone! So encouraging!
Love the revisiting. Proving that the tiny houses are reliable and durables. Nice video. You give me so many ideas, thank you. Cheers from Argentina.
This is great! I love that you revisit the Tiny Houses. It shows that it really can work!
Thanks for the re-visits! Thanks, as well, for asking specific questions; especially since they weren't that forthcoming about the challenges! Videos like this show you are listening to your viewers, so thanks for that, too!
Love to see the big life they are truly living! Really like the re-visits! And, as always, the drone shots coupled with your fabulous theme underscores that magic. This special combination is like getting the best of hugs from you two. Thanks again!
Love this channel, especially your enthusiasm. Also, We love the follow ups. This makes it look like it's really doable. Thank you, Bryce.
I’m glad you made up a follow up video, I am always watching their fist video! Such a great home. Glad their plans are going great! Time to take my leap into the tiny house movement!
This house is such an elegant, open design and I love that they're off grid!
This video makes me happy, I love the panorama shots high in the air when the camera slowly turns toward the setting sun. They live better than millionnaires; fresh air and an amazing view. And to top it off, they are energy self sufficient. Thank you so much.
What a freeing way to live! I didn't know that biogas existed. I def want to learn more on that. It must be amazing to live 100% off the grid that's awesome!
Wonderful informative interview Bryce and Rasa lovely filming as usual You guys feed us all the info and capture the visual lifestyle so thoroughly I almost feel I am actually there experiencing it.
Great job and kudos to this beautiful couple for an amazi g home and lifestyle 👏👏👏

Thanks Pattie! We love making the revisited episodes.
I like how they have a lot of power from reusable energy. But still thinking to save the energy by only using some appliances when the sun is out. This couple is awesome
Bryce, thank you for following up with them. They look extremely happy and content. The place is just beautiful
Byron Bay is such a beautiful part of Australia. Great to see them so happy and content.

Love the follow up. Such a great picture of positive living thanks again 🧡
Great to see all is working well. Hopefully videos like these help convince Australians we do not need nuclear power. More than enough energy from renewables. Comfortable modern living without compromises. Your story is inspiring. Well done guys.
Nuclear power is far more efficient and less polluting than adani coal mines ;)
Love ya. I watching this channel every single day
Thank you! So glad you are enjoying our videos. :)
So super happy for this beautiful people. Great to see update on the systems itself. Thank you for sharing your space with us. amazing
I joined this channel after I watched this segment. The channel had less than a million followers. Now it is well on its way to 1.5 million! Thank you for sharing the tiny house lifestyle with us.
I love this tiny house. Very well thought out. Thank you for sharing.
This so far has been my favourite tiny home, and they are telly off the grid, Fast becoming an addict to the minimal idea and go small idea and realising that less is best. Getting great ideas.... Thanks

Being off the grid is so cool. I would think that the one of the goals of every tiny home would be that. Now that is my goal. Thanks for the encouragement.
Cheers Rik! All the best with your future off the grid adventures. :)
Awesome video as always, Bryce! Also just a note to say how lovely it was to meet you at the Australia Tiny House Festival - I had my little girl with me and we were both a little starstruck after watching your vids over the year but you made our day :)

Will you ever be doing a catch up with the couple who built the tiny on wheels that converts into the castle with the rooftop bath and fruit drying racks etc? I'd looove to know how they're going too esp with their little one.
Good report! I like the honesty.

The most beautiful pullback Rasa. Great episode. Cheers 👍🏽🌟so extraordinarily happy. My cells did a little sparkly jig at the success of the ethical and renewable lifestyle being so freeing. All round great success... 🌈🌺🔆🌟 thankyou
The view is so beautiful!
They have a perfect spot in the middle of the ring of trees...beautiful spot!
In the right spot, wind can be a gift. A 10 Kw Bergey [Norman, Oklahoma, US] provided 80% of the electrical use for an earth-sheltered (non-tiny) house. At the time of purchase, the turbine cost $19,000 USD. [Unfortunately, the state was persuaded? or maybe lobbied? to pass a subsidy some years later which allowed a buyer to buy the same turbine for $34,000- $36,000, if it was installed by a certified installer (who couldn't be the owner!), essentially subsidizing a very high-end homeowner, and making it unaffordable to everyone else. A story for another day.] The lead acid batteries were the most recyclable part of the installation. The lead and plastic caps were melted down for other battery cases, the acid was used to neutralize hand soap. Had the house been a more reasonable size, the turbine by the lake in the windy location would easily have powered 100% of the home's needs. Research has demonstrated that four states -- Texas, Oklahoma, North and South Dakota, maybe? -- have enough wind to provide 3 times the electricity of the entire US current use. BUT -- the grid isn't up to the task, and the cost of upgrading it was not anything any politicians could contemplate. Certainly not now, in the time of economic disaster of Covid-19. Conservation is always cleanest.
That last shot was stunning ☀️
Beautiful house! In Architect and I'm obsessed with tiny houses. Great Channel. Greetings from Argentina.
Thanks! Glad you like the videos. :)
These tiny homes are fantastic, makes me dream of having one in the future. Definitely taking notes.

Nice setup. Just perfect for a couple or small family. And Frankie is super cute.👌
Thank you Bryce for the update on this tiny home. It is so satisfying to see Paul and Annett meet all of their needs with virtually no carbon foot print. It is also wonderful to see them save so much money each year that they can meet their wants without going into debt. Wish you and them the best. Have a great weekend.
It's always great to see people set out to do amazing things and accomplish their dreams!
I LOVE your videos and love the tiny home movement. I would be very interested in seeing retired folks living tiny. That would be awesome. I’m considering the tiny movement myself and would love some ideas. ❤️
