just made this today! but i only had green onions 😂 it turned out better than i expected, cant believe restaurants charge such extravagant prices for korean pancakes when its so cheap and easy to make! i made it a bit too thick and didnt crisp it enough, but still, super delicious with a side sauce that i whacked tgt for the first time with chopped garlic, onion, red pepper paste, sesame oil, rice wine, soy sauce and garlic chilli sauce. will def make it again, thanks maangchi!!
Thank you so much for posting these videos. I live in Korea and it is so nice to know the amounts and various foods that go into these wonderful Korean foods. Your videos make my mouth water! Yum!
yes, I will post it. It's very easy though. Make batter with chopped kimchi, a little bit of kimchi juice, flour, water, sugar, and salt (if you need), then make pancake.
I just made this and it was delicious. We have local Korean restaurant, this is where i first tried yachaejeon. So delicious! I did not realize it's so easy to make. The only different thing i did is replace seafood with shiitake. Thank you Maangchi!
I too am impressed with the pan flipping. I tried just now... it kinda curled over on itself. I guess the secret is to believe in yourself and follow through!
@adyyy22 Thank you very much. Yes, chopped calamari can be used. I have bunch of camera people: my readers, neighbors, family, and sometimes I hire an expert. Thank you for your compliment.
of course you can. You can add some hot pepper flakes, sesame seeds and chopped green onion. I like simple sauce just mixture of soy sauce and lots of vinegar. : )
Hi,biet1963, I'm glad to hear that you made this dish successfully. Green lettuce for pancake? I've never tried. But fish sauce is used for another kind of pancake using green chilli pepper which is very very hot, but so delicious. Chopped chilli pepper and onion , flour, water, and fish sauce that's all ingredients you need for the chilli pepper pancake. It's from a very southern island in korea. Thanks
hi,bertintowncenter, yeah, that's a good idea to make this pancake to get rid of your leftover vegetables. Actually you can make kimchi pancake. How? Put some chopped kimchi and a little bit of sugar in the flour mixture instead of vegetables, and cook it. It's called "Kimchi jeon" in korean. I know you have lots of kimchi in your refrigerator from your last cooking video. : )
Thx Maangchi for the recipe. The jeon was deeeeeeelicious. Turned out nice and crispy too! Also made a variation of this. Just the plain flour batter put in pan. Then add egg and shallot mixture on top and flip. Reminds me exactly of the egg pancake I had when travelling in Asia.
I feel so happy....... I was searching for her older videos.......... One day I'll make all the recipes......... I don't know how to cook nice....... But she somehow inspires me to try.... 😁😁🥰🥰
That's a very good idea of making smaller ones. A thin pancake is delicious. One of my Canadian friends who had never tried Korean food before likes this dish a lot. She is also a vegetarian, so she omits seafood things. I suggest adding some sliced onions too and use vegetable oil generously. : )
I like to watch you flip the pancake, hahaha! You must feel so powerful when you're able to do that xD I'm going to try out this recipe tomorrow. Thanks!
literally just made this 5 minutes ago. My family loves it!!! Since i said it was a Korean dish ( we don't have any asian in or blood) they didn't want to try it. Can't wait to try other Korean and asian dishes.
I've also seen people eating pancakes in dramas although it didn't look as good as yours! I held my breath when you flipped the pancake just because I imagined myself flipping it and not making it. Thank you for the video, and your makeup is awesome too. Love the matching hat!!!
i don't even like egg but the way you made it looks absolutely delicious im only 15 but your cooking has inspired me to make real korean food I appreciate it so much and it looks so good thank you again Maangchi!!! Ricky.
I'm looking forward to trying this recipe, and thank you so much for sharing. I don't think I can handle the flip so my cakes will be smaller. Maangchi, you're the best!
Hi,neunwest, Yes, this dish usually serves as apetizer when you order your main dish at a korean restaurant these days. I love rice wine(막걸리),too. : ) thanks,
Made today.. so simple to make and healthy recipe...loved it. Thankyou Maangchi 👍👌👌
👏
haha, very smart! Someone else said that he practiced the flip with a piece of bread. : )

Thank you so much for posting these videos. I live in Korea and it is so nice to know the amounts and various foods that go into these wonderful Korean foods. Your videos make my mouth water! Yum!
Nice flip. Mine would end up with one half on the stove and the other on the floor.
yes, I will post it. It's very easy though. Make batter with chopped kimchi, a little bit of kimchi juice, flour, water, sugar, and salt (if you need), then make pancake.
You can do it too. Someone from youtube suggested using a piece of bread to practice the pan-flip. That's what he or she did. : )
you are right! sesame leaves can be added in the vegetable pancake! I love its flavor.
Thank you for your good compliment. : )

kalyanamitto,
Right! you can use any leftover vegetables for this dish. Wonderfuld!
yes, you can. The reason I put the beaten egg on the pancake directly is for color.

통조림이랑 라면만 먹고잇는 나에게 야채전이 신의음식으로보인다..
Your pancake sounds very interesting!

@DestinySky16 thanks a lot! Happy New Year!
lol, smart dogs!
Kimchi pancake's main ingredient is chopped kimchi. Add some flour, kimchi juice, and a little bit of salt and sugar. : )
Thanks for the recipe, just whipped up a pancake-vegetarian version--and it's fabulous! All I have to do is work on my flip!
no, I never use cabbage for vegetable pancake. Use green onions if you can't find Asian chives. Check the recipe and ingredients photo on my website
Excellent toss! You're so cute! Perfect English with the cutest accent! I love this lady.
@Vji all purpose flour
@mermaid55 good news! Congratulations!
yeah, interesting, isn't it? So many dishes are very similar no matter what culture they come from.
you can do it, too.
hello,jasoninparis,
Thanks! I went to Paris in February. I fell in love with smelly french cheese while I was there. : )

Hi,neunwest,
Yes, this dish usually serves as apetizer when you order your main dish at a korean restaurant these days. I love rice wine(막걸리),too. : )

@emilyhf3 yes, use less water in the batter if you use egg.
