Just bought one from you and received it last Friday and rode with it all weekend. LOVE IT! First non modular helmet I have had in years. Works great with glasses also. Can't recommend it enough. Also you might want to watch the Arai video on cheek pad removal. Much easier than the way you do it. You are doing it backwards. The back of the cheek pads come out first.
Can confirm the fragility of the liner when washing - handwashing is the go. I’ve trashed mine and had to replace it, fortunately spares are easy to buy. Bell lids are heaps better for washing the liner - easy out and in, survives the wash with the rest of gear (front loader).
My understanding is that Arai does rotational force management through the R75 shell that better glances off things, preventing those forces from entering the helmet in the first place.
Thanks for the detailed information! I'm thinking about getting one from you. Just a quick question: Can I wear sunglasses with this helmet? Is it sunglasses friendly?
Yes you can wear sunglasses with this helmet. There is removable foam in the top of the earcup which allows the arms of glasses to easily slide into the helmet.
Arai is NOT one of the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" companies. They are soley concerned with maximum safety and will adjust to things to meet their standards for safety. Their standards exceed the DOT and ECE ratings, too. That's why they don't sell a modular helmet. They made it, and it passed the DOT and ECE ratings, but not their own standards so they didn't release it to market. Implying they are behind on safety is hilarious. How about you let them take your MSR helmet(s) for testing and we'll see who is really lagging in safety? That said, I don't like the XD5. The bubbled out bottom of the lens/shield doesn't look to be completely hidden when closed, and would definitely be a distraction when open. The brow vents being removed, the side vents on either side of the chin being removed, and the top vents being limited to only central vs on both sides makes me question the airflow vs the outgoing XD4. Less important, completely subjective, but still a factor; the XD5 also doesn't look as good as the previous generation.

Comprehensive review of new features and comparative features vs earlier versions
can you leave the visor on still and wear goggles? if Arai is so great/safe why don't they show as ECE?

Yes, you could say that their shell shape is how they combat rotational energy. - Chase
Had my helmet almost 2 weeks, and it is a good replacement for my neotec
Glad you are enjoying your new helmet!
