    Is this guy serious "Horrendous story lines from movie and and 2"?? C'mon now, those are honestly hands down the best films in the entire series. -_-
    I honestly dont know how to farthermore which one was better to be real with anyone.. Both were great selection of kick-ass vehicles and story lines for a modern car flic. With the fully customized Toyota Supra, to the high end imported Nissan Skyline. What, did this guy enjoy movies like RedLine, featuring Carmen Electra?? Please, spare me the insolence of naive. Who ever thinks Tokyo Drift was good is really pathetic, just like Bow Wow who drives a green scion or whatever that "boxy" looking vehicle was.. Smh

      TheTacoNinja809 I get that the F&F series was never meant to be realistic (and 90% of the stunts would never happen irl).. but the original one (my fave) felt more realistic. Yes the hijacking of the trucks and the last scene of Vince with his arm caught on the wire is a little bs. but that was all it was, a little bs. not tanks bombarding the highway and such. or what about that one scene where dom saves letty (or mia I forget, mb) by basically jumping from bridge to bridge, like just wtf. that scene absolutely killed the movie for me (as I'm sure many others as well).. if they had placed that scene somewhere in the original movie, you know that stunt would stick out like a sore thumb compared to the stunts originally put in the movie. (Sorry for a lot of my improper English, been a long day).

    @EatmyDust1311 It may have deserved a video, but that doesn't mean we had the time or resources to make one. We're working full time on the TV show, and while we had planned to shoot with the Raptor, SPEED added 2 shoots during the week we had it, making a video with it logistically impossible. I honestly don't know what I would have said in the video that I didn't say in the written review.

    @wolf1010 Garage419 was owned by Next New Networks. Tom and I were paid a weekly salary to provide 2 videos. When they ran out of money, so do we. We make The Smoking Tire out of our own pockets, and even though there is advertising in our videos, it doesn't nearly cover the expenses that we pay in order to make the show. I'm glad we can entertain you, but why should I be paying to work? I should be getting paid to work. Hence, ads.

    @rtardbox we've made 4 separate intros, which we are consistently rotating through. We've had the same 4 intros for almost a year now, and they haven't been changed since then. The only "rock-like" one that we had was universally agreed to suck, and so we bailed on it about 10 months ago. The whole TST staff agrees that the quieter, classical guitar intros are properly ironic considering the "fast paced" nature of the show itself, and we like that.

  • @TheSmokingTire
    @TheSmokingTire  13 лет назад +1

    @eeeen321 He was the technical advisor for the movie, so when the hollywood idiots wanted to do things that were so far out of reality it wouldn't even be within the same universe as real life, he tried to keep them in line and at least try to insert some level of reality. It's true, Craig was involved in the "import tuner" culture of the early 2000's (he owned the Supra from FF1, but the producers painted it orange and put graphics all over it for the film), but that doesn't mean he wrote it.

    @rtardbox The BBC, and many other TV shows have a budget for licensed music. As in, bands you've heard of before. We do not have a budget for licensed music, we have to find whatever royalty-free shit we can find on the internet. When we're looking at ambient, electronic, or classical guitar, the selection is significantly better than trying to look for rock music that doesn't include lyrics.
    Besides, we're not changing it. It's intentionally the way it is, and we like it.

  • @TheSmokingTire
    @TheSmokingTire  13 лет назад

    @z00h it's a shame you think that. We posted the M3 video two weeks ago, now this, and we have another episode in the editing bay right now. When I'm not working this, I'm working full-time on my television show, "The Car Show," which premieres on SPEED in July. I work 7 days a week. If this paid better, me, Tom, and the crew would make more videos. But it doesn't, so we're going off to where the money is: TV. We will keep this alive as well.

      Jason Knapp They actually decided to hire a known guy in the tuner scene, and then they had initially decided on the Neon SRT as the lead car for Bryan BUT then was changed to the the R34 GTR after the known tuner had given his input on how much of a eye sore the Neon SRT was gonna be in the movie. Another occasion that was similar to this was Bryan’s Supra. They had initially decided on the 300Zx but was then later changed.

    when I was 16 year old, I still knew enough about cars to know that your engine running too hard would not make the rivets in your floorboard suddenly come out..lol.
    At least they didn't use the dodge Neon srt. The movies were fun to watch, even if they were terrible because most of the cars were cool. Sure, some were over-done, but the cars themselves were cool. Dodge neon....doesn't matter that they put a turbo and body kit on it, it is still a crappy car.

      engine runs hard
      harder than what its supposed to do stock
      wheels start shaking
      car starts vibrating
      lose bolts unscrew
      ????
      floorboard flies off

      @999benhonda 9 лет назад

      I had a 1989 Honda accord LXI with nearly 200k miles upto 118mph....but still no floor boards flying off of it.

    • @MistRVertexZ
      @MistRVertexZ 9 лет назад

      RCPro Driver probably because it was stock and didnt have floorboards?

    • @999benhonda
      @999benhonda 9 лет назад

      I was just pointing out that even a old car with old suspension going its max speed wouldn't vibrate enough to shake bolts loose. The engine running hard wont make a difference...motor mounts lower vibration and you get less vibration from a small 4cyl transverse motor anyway. It kind of a cool thing to see in the movie, but no way that can really happen.
      Oh, and my accord had 1 or 2 holes in the floor...still nothing fell off the car when driving it as hard as it could.

    Guys: We DID show them cars STRAIGHT from Japan...hardcore JDM tuned machines. They did NOT have the budget to bring these over. THEY wanted flashy, vinyl tuned, big winged machines. We gave advice, whether or not they chose to take it, well, that was another matter. Send your hate mail to Scott Stuber at Universal Pictures. Fucking sick of hearing it.

    damn straight. that's why, to me, Tokyo Drift was the best one. it was: beginning, race, short backstory, race, unimportant story, more racing, driving, learning about driving, car chase, final boss race, final car show scene. basically, it was more about the cars and the driving. whereas, the new ones are: crime drama, superfluous idiotic race, moar crime drama, drama-drama, crime drama, final race, crime drama.

    Facepalm! okay so let me set you straight. I've worked on joint strike fighters before. The ejection seats are rocket powered, even the built in gyros to stabilize it post ejection are rocket powered. The ejection seats in just an f-16 will shoot you over 30 stories in hundredths of a second. Let me tell you that was an enlightening safety briefing during my internship.

    -Does a built head increase the top speed potential of the factory gear box? Yes!
    -Does the OEM stock 2g have the gearing to do over 140mph? With enough power, Yes.
    How much WHP does a 2g need to top the oem 5th gear w/ the factory redline? Don't know, but the top of 5th w/ factory gearing/redline is over 140mph.
    I can tell you from personal experience, an oem 2g does not have the power to hit top speed in 5th gear; and even w/ 496awhp on pure 92 oct, the top of 5th requires POWER!

    • @PaganiTypeR
      @PaganiTypeR 9 лет назад

      yea, it doesn't, but we still love it. That's why such movies are being called "Guilty Pleasure Movies". Don't tell me that you don't have any bad movie that you still love to watch, because I know you do. Most of us has and it's not necessarily f&f. It's silly to go against peoples choices, we choose to watch whatever we want to watch, why does it bothers you? What's the point of your comment? It won't change anything, and it only shows your hatred towards the fanbase. For example I'm not bothered that people watches 50 shades of grey, It's not for me, and if it works for others then it's OK but I'm still not interested in it...

    • @Iceandmint

    Okay, I have a little advice for Matt Farah. If you are going to label your video "Fast and the Furious - The rejected cars and scenes" make a little effort and have a screen shot of the cars you were criticizing. it was annoying to listen to you talk shit about how bad the designs were and barely give viewers the opportunity and the resolution to make out the details. It was also kind of frustrating hearing Craig Lieberman say that there is a story behind every piece of dialogue or every graphic and why it was done that way and the best you could do with that information was make flippant comments about the rejected ideas and not ask anything about the stories? I would like to know "Was their anyone else who was knowledgeable or passionate about cars on the set? If so did they have an impact on the movie? Were there cars that they tried to get but couldn't? Did the actors have any say in what cars they drove? Did any of the actors offer to buy the cars after the movie was done because they liked them so much? Did fan recommendations make any kind of impact on the choice of cars? Any rumors of drag races happening on set or off set after a shoot? Most impressive car? Why? Most expensive car? Hardest car to acquire? The list of interesting questions go on and on. Instead I have to listen to you chuckle in that weird laugh of yours about a fucking afro pick on the side of a black mans car....Okay, now that I think about it that is pretty funny... But that's beside my point. My point is Matt, I really enjoy your videos and I want to see you do well in life. Your like the average guys car reviewer and I appreciate that because I am an average guy. On the flipside I think this video is beneath your usual level of quality so please with sugar on top...knock it off.

  • @veilside918
    @veilside918 12 лет назад

    12) Honda Civics are the fastest cars out there in street racing
    13) You need to hide your Nos under the passenger seat to make your car the fastest
    14) You need to have a Supra to be able to catch up to 3 highly modified Civics.
    15) A Dodge Charger is so fast that the Chassis will twist mostly all the time.
    16) If you use Nos too early inside a race, you will lose.
    17) If you use Nos before flying off a bridge, your car won't take any damage.

  • @eeeen321
    @eeeen321 13 лет назад

    @TheSmokingTire lol, don't avoid the point Matt, which is:
    -It is both hypocritical and false to say Lieberman was not partially responsible for the BS that got into those movies. He made trendy, high dollar show cars, and they didn't represent performance oriented cars on the street.
    To cite my LIMITED personal experience:
    -500+awhp pump gas 2.0L 4g (running low-mid boost)
    -street driven EG hatch trapping 148 mph w/ 10.2x ETs on BS tires
    -600+rwhp GN
    -450rwhp Mk3 Supra
    -610+ rwhp irs Cobra

  • @eeeen321
    @eeeen321 13 лет назад

    Some rational advice for representing the "street" scene:
    -Get an oem bodied EG/EK hatch making over 550+ FWHP (not a tough thing for a built and boosted B/K), try and out do the top-end a powerful Honda hatch.
    -Get a 1g/2g DSM that makes over 600awhp w/ the ever-capable 4g, real DSM'rs don't give one shit about appearance, they just wanna embarrass the trendy dorks with their vinyl-tastic Mk4 and R34 show cars.
    -The s2, supra, skyline, civic, rx7, dsm and evo ALL deserved better...

    @eeeen321 Actually, I've built/owned both. My silver Supra made 849hp. My 996TT made over 600hp. While it's true that my yellow Supra (which became the orange one), my R34 GTR, my M3 and the Maxima were all built as show cars, they were built to MAKE MONEY, both from sponsorships and movie appearances. I make no apologies for that, even if those cars weren't your taste. But rest assured, I know how to and have built many a performance car. You may not agree....and I may not care.

      To be fair, all of the movies have their cornball moments.
      I mean, I know a few car guys that absolutely HATE these movies, even Tokyo Drift.
      Part of the reason why is because of some of the dialogue, how the cars looked, there was even a guy who basically nitpicked every small detail regarding the cars.

    For those of you not familiar with the Fast & Furious franchise i have compiled some of the most important facts you learn from these movies.
    1) Nos is the only brand of nitrous
    2)Nos makes your car go so fast the world becomes blurry
    3)Never granny shift in a drag race, when you should be double clutching
    4)Ferrari more than you can afford, pal!
    5)Too much nos will blow the wield on your intake, cause "danger to manifold", make your floor board implode and fry you piston rings
