The rights that were suspended affected everyone not just the criminals and those in high crime areas. It would be similar to suspending the right of all US citizens and violating everyone’s privacy because, Chicago, NYC, LA and Detroit have violent gang issues. Unfortunately democracy is slow and politicians are easily manipulated and this leads to dictators being effective in the short term but rarely do they give up power willingly. I'm willing to bet some sum of money that any outside critique has much less to do with ethics and "human rights violations" as it does with how taking decisive and effective action is shown to be possible for even an economically developing country. It is unfortunate that some people have had to face problems in the rectification of the country's problems, but it would be even more unfortunate for a leader to sit complacent with what the gangs continued to do. This approach has so far been proven effective. You don't defeat cruel and murderous gangs by playing to all the rules. And I bet the bulk of the criticism comes from the more economically strong countries who STILL struggle with gang violence and want to draw eyes away from the results to cover their own asses.

    • @hopeforthefuture8680
      @hopeforthefuture8680 6 дней назад

      Human rights are violated when choices are nullified by violence. Judge the motive(s) of the leader(s). It’s a risk either way, but at least there is hope for people to live without as many threats and might have more chances to pursue a better life in theory. There is more to life than economic freedom. What can a person give in exchange for his soul? There’s mercy and compassion only from
      THE LORD. But no government can rule a person’s heart. Only GOD ALMIGHTY, the Creator of Heaven and Earth and the Creator of every person-can give peace and rest to a person’s soul- by His only begotten Son Jesus Christ the Messiah. By His blood sacrifice He made the only way to The Father. Repent from your sins and turn to God and receive salvation for you souls. Time is short. He is coming to Judge the earth. Do not delay, today is the day of salvation.

      Please. . .there are only parts of American cities that have crime. Stop painting entire cities as crime ridden. But Chicago’s south side could be the worst as well as parts of Baltimore, St. Louis, and Detroit. But you can still go to most places in these cities and not encounter crime.

      @@hrussell9677 You're not 100 percent wrong, but I would argue that only small "parts" of cities are NOT violent and crime filled. Most large American cities are downright scary except for a few select neighborhoods that are usually extremely wealthy. It's why we don't travel by train in the U.S., like Europe - everyone lives spread out in the suburbs because no one can live in crime/gang/drug filled cities. It's a real shame. I actually like Trump's idea to literally build new cities and have them run by competent people who can stop them from becoming ruined.
      Last time I was in Chicago, leaving my hotel even in the Loop to get something to eat at night made me feel less safe than most places I've traveled, including some stereotypical "bad" places in South America, North Africa, eastern Europe, etc.

    I'm half-El Salvadorean from my father and when I mentioned this to my father, he was ecstatic and approved of how safe his home country was because of these crackdowns. The international community can yap all they want, but very few of those arguing about the measures taken have done anything to help. They only care the moment anything they deem un-democratic and authoritarian happens.
    Countries don't have to be democratic to be a good place to live. Not all governments need to have the same exact ideals. So long as the law-abiding citizens are safe, happy, and respected by their governments then nothing else matters. As long as a government isn't going off and attacking and bully other nations without very just cause, it doesn't matter. Let others live and govern themselves the way they want. It's not your business until you're attacked or screwed with negatively.
    Just be sure the leadership does not fall into the lure of corruption and you're fine.

He is benign because he is dictating for the good of the country. Time will tell if he will remain true to the ideals with which he started. In the interim he needs to be supported by all.
