    Imagine what people must have thought in 1960 or so when jet planes were first seen in the skies. Must have been incredible.

    I have flown on a Scanair ( SAS ) Dc8 super 63. Long aircraft. I was sitting at the very rear. Noisy as hell at takeoff... Very smooth ride

    Brilliant footage, I love the old DC-8! Unfortunately, ZS-OSI was retired and stored at ‘Manston Kent International’ (MSE) back in November 2012, and scrapped in February 2015 :(

    The cable controlled airplane that pollutes and it's safe to fly it's too bad Delta doesn't have a row them anymore and allowed smoking and Rose 47 and further or I'd still be flying some things are just too good to last

      It's still using old school engines normally DC8s were converted to use the CFM56 engine. The same engine type on the 737 and A320

    • @justforever96
      @justforever96 2 года назад +3

      Why would they be? Just because it is visible doesn't make it dirtier than normal jet exhaust as far as pollutants, and there are so few in service that the amount of pollution they add doesn't even register compared to that generated by modern airliners. It would be like banning people from driving cars built before 1960 in order to prevent air pollution. How many cars from before 1960 do you think are actually on the road on any given day compared to newer cars? It is pointless and just harassment. The only thing "banned" about these engines is their noise level.

    • @Rexag
      @Rexag Год назад +1

      @@justforever96 People complain about everything....My grandmother lived on the approach path to Houston Hobby.. when it was the only airport..and they were coming in one after the other 3 min or less between each classic jet... it was loud... couldn't hear the tv at times and no recordings so you just missed what was said..but I loved it shake the house taking off... nobody complained... the smell of the smoke as seeing it was wonderful actually but yes... they banned the noise levels, and the after burn exhausts to be reconfigured to the environment. Such a soft society till this day...only now, worse.
