- Truly one of New York City's greatest restaurants, 21 Club (www.21club.com) has been providing excellent food and drinks to the city's biggest stars for almost 100 years. From Sinatra to Nixon, from A Rod to Mickey Mantle, they all dine here. I had a special dinner, dining at table 21, followed by a tour of the restaurant's secret, Prohibition-era wine cellar and private dining room.

@@paolo-n2000 Yes very sad. By the way I didn't hear that news until after I responded to your comment. A couple of other people have commented on this video yesterday and that's when i Saw a news report about the closure. hopefully when the world returns to normal they will reopen.

My daughter went to NYC for her 21st birthday and I made a reservation at 21 for her. Being young she didn’t know the history, she didn’t go. I had to pay a fee of course. I was so disappointed…because I really was the one who wanted to be there. 😀

That steak was overcooked.
I must disagree. Perfectly cooked, though a bit too much char on the outside.
It looked unimpressive, like what you'd get at a wedding or conference.

Wow--interesting restaurant--nothing like I imagined. The wine cellar and accompanying stories about it were amazing--love the ingenuity of creating the cellar during Prohibition. (Thank goodness I wasn't around during Prohibition!) I'll try to check out the joint when I'm in NYC next month.
Fred, have you ever thought of expanding your channel name--something like "Luxury Fred Travel--Hotels, Restaurants and More"? I think you'd get more viewers and you deserve a lot more viewers!

Big deal. My grandparents made blackberry brandy in their own bathtub during prohibition.
They should have started a booze company. I would be making videos about them instead of 21 Club.
Actually, it was a very common practice. I have their 1920s style hydrometer as a family heirloom scotchtaped to the family Crest in my living room. Seriously though, yours is a great video.

I wouldn't mind being stuck down there for 6-7 hours!
They do a lot of celebrity and VIP dinners down there! Sadly, 21 Club closed a few months ago with no plans to reopen.

@@FreddySherman That's sad. Places here in the UK are closing all the time. Smoking laws, and just general cost of living, are factors. We buy our booze with our groceries, and look forward to a home-cooked meal...

@@Beechgoose1 Thank you! This closure was pandemic related and there's always a chance they will reopen.
The rent on that space is probably astronomical and without full indoor dining (and events like weddings) they just cannot / could not survive.

I don't think they can stay open, but I think there is a good chance they will reopen when the world returns to normal. It's just too expensive to keep it going on take out. But if things go well with the vaccine and the world starts to return to normal, yes I think they will reopen maybe next spring or summer. I hope so. Thank you very much for watching the video

I never knew this about this restaurant until this week. But i guess it wasnt that good if it went out of business. Lack of demand, out of business. Just the facts no hard feelings.
I think you need to get out more! It was one of the most famous restaurants in Manhattan for years, popular with celebrities and politicians. Closed due to the pandemic, no restaurant could survive if the landlord was not helpful.

Thanks for watching the video. It's a restaurant and you can make reservations. It's small and very popular so they can be booked up for a long time especially on weekends and holidays.
