You guys are just built different! How you can process the information for a couple corners ahead, while still maintaining focus on what you're driving in the current moment is superhuman. Truly the definition of skills + teamwork coming together! POV angle is on point too. I'd love another angle facing backwards showing what each of you are doing?!
having done a lot of rally sim stuff on PC and in VR, hearing it and processing it isn't as hard as you'd think. you kinda just learn it pretty quick. what boggles my mind is how the co-driver manages to keep the pacing and timing correct as they are reading them out. It's fine to hear it when it keeps coming at a consistent pace and is correctly timed to your preference of how far in advance of the turn you want to hear it... but how the codriver manages to read the notes AND keep track of where they are on the stage at the same time and not fuck up and mis-speak while being thrown all over the palce is beyond me.
@@WaffleShortage the hardest part of rally driving, is maintaining an intense focus on what you're doing, it's almost like meditation, you can't let your mind wander at all, and you have to be completely in tune with the current moment, otherwise you're in a wall.

Listening to engine notes while glancing to the dashboard to change gear, listening to the pace notes, aiming for the curves & straights ahead, knowing which gears used for what kind of curve, executing it as quickly as possible, there's.. just a lot to do. Rally drivers are truly on another level among other racers.
Their eyes are fixed quite far ahead they dont look at the dashboard. Some older rally cars don't even have it connected or only connect the revs. It feels different when you look at it but when you drive so fast you are reacting on a delay so you have to decide to turn half a second before your hands actually turn the wheel. You make decisions about what you are going to do a few seconds in advance so you really need to look as far ahead as you can and have absolute trust in the co-driver when you tells you how to turn into the blind corners or crests
Was always a dream to be a rally driver since i was 6 years old. But my body and issues with it did not let me do it. I still enjoy watching clips like this. Always good luck for you guys und stay safe.
it looks like the car is an extension of his body, even driving down this road at the speed limit i would be nervous, but he's pushing 100mph and it feels like the walls are closing in. honestly amazing.

This video is from during a test, so I had driven over the road a handful of times by then. In the actual rally though we only get the 2 passes of recce in a road car (where we make all the notes you're hearing) and the next time we see the road is at speed, at the limit, in the rally car. It's why we love this sport 🤩
