There's a computer or two in there somewhere. This car's got a rev limiter (and not just a basic "now you have spark, now you don't" type). Vintage GT40 rev limiter was valve float or putting a rod through the block.

The film of the blue GT40 racing into the dark and wet is the first time I've seen an onboard bthat looked like racing in the wet as I know, i.e. great handfuls of lock, cars all over the shop, on off on off.

Absolutely on the limit all the time :). So different from modern racecars. The driver needs to constantly make corrections to find speed.

There is something so majestic about the sound the v8, the blue light shining over the instrument cluster, working the steering wheel as the race track rushes by out side. These GT40's belong out on the track.
Great to see this magnificent beast on a track in its natural environment singing to its heart content and not locked up in a vault somewhere.
I love when the Rev limiter is the pedal hard against the floor....
"What a car"...I mean It's nearly 60 years old and it looks as if it would beat just about any car today and make the most glorious sound whilst doing it :)

omg, knowing that modern F1 cars can take Eau Rouge flat out, and seeing the GT40 have to lift so massively makes me think it must be absolutely terrifying to drive. this man makes up for lack of downforce with giant balls.

For those that don't know, the owner has the original but races a Gelscoe motorsport GT40 recreation at these events, from what I understand.
I've seen this race at goodwood, it's absolutely nuts.

He probably also races the original one as well, most likely at more important races where: (a) organizers only admit originals, or (b) the original isn't ready... Looking at the pictures, it's very hard to spot the visual differences between the original and the Gelscoe replica, as they both were painted in the same livery.

You should also search for Carlos Monteverde's car collection, FICA FRIO. That's another collection of cars that still get raced pretty regularly...

For most curves it felt that it was going out of it, one of the most exhilarating cockpit car laps I have ever seen. The ending shots are pure gold.
Also nice that at the end it shows outer angles, during the video I couldn’t help but think that “my cars and driving skills DO NOT turn at all like that” (newbie here, that is). And lo and behold, the slip angle on some turns are delightfully extreme. What a joy to see.

I was lucky enough to inspect one of the original GT40 race cars. I was amazed at how small it was and obviously light and fragile. The fellows driving them at 205 mph had to be the bravest of the brave.
