As a type 1 diabetic I can say with 100% certainty that even as a diabetic you can still eat chocolate normally just like anyone else. You just have to manually dose yourself with insulin (or hell if you have certain insulin pump systems automatically even) if anything things like pizza are a much bigger concern for diabetics because of the carb+cheese combo making it more difficult to figure out how to dose for your individual body because everyone is different. Might be smart to cut back on sugar and carbs for better control (for some) or just to use less insulin because that shit is hella expensive but there’s no actual reason you “can’t” eat chocolate. If anything newly diagnosed like that you’re going to want to keep those chocolates on hand for when your blood sugar inevitably tanks because lord knows glucose chews are god awful
