British citizen here, capris are stunning cars having had some in the family this one is a Stunning example hope you love and cherish it and give it a good time out
Hi Jag Simon ! I could spend ages talking on here, and telling you about my experience, love for the Capri and, in particular the Ford V6 Engines of that time! As a 16/17 year old apprentice, people ended up coming from far and wide, here in the UK, and insisting on ME servicing their Capri and Consul/Granada vehicles. Nobody could get those engines to purr better than I !! Which brings me to... Your Tappets are WAY off ! Getting that Valve Train right really is a 'black art', which very, very few people truly understand. Working out the tricks, for me, was a thing of beauty. Thank you for the video. Take care, Mike Hughes, MKH Engineering.
Wow, great looking Capri! I had a 72 in high school. Same color as this one but had a black interior. It was a 2.0 liter with a 4 speed manual. Great car, wish I still had it but traded it in 1983 for a 74 260Z.
My best friend had one of these in the 80's. I had a 1968 440 Charger and raced him, and he kept up on the little end, but I ate his lunch on the big end!
How ironic. He turns the radio on and it’s playing a song that was new when I bought my 1973 Capri in August 1982 Los Angeles, just before my 19th birthday. I don’t remember the name of the group but the song was “What I Like about you” and they became really popular a year or so later with “I hear the secrets that you keep” . Great band and great Car. Lot’s of memories in that being my very first car.
Purchased a 1972 2.6 V6 4 speed in 1974. I was a junior in high school. I bought the car from a man that raced it on closed course, weekend events. I had a set of headers added. That car us so much fun. Very quick but not top end fast enough to run very the V8's.
Very nice survivor Capri. Found the addition of the 4sp auto very interesting. Glad the former owner was able to enjoy the car longer. Thank you for posting your collection.
WOW!! What a NICE Capri! My dad also had a 1972 Capri, his was Metallic green with saddle interior. I was 10 when he bought it brand new. I LOVED that car. He taught me how to shift on it. Unfortunately, after 6 months owning it, It was stolen and was taken on a joy-ride and banged up, so he traded it in and got a 1973 Capri, Copper Metallic/saddle interior. Both cars were the 2.6L V6 4 speed Manual Trans, and boy did they GO!. I liked the '72 better, it had the chrome bumpers the '73's were the big plastic ones. I currently own a nice 1969 Skylark GS 350, and would almost trade it to have one of these cars again. I Like your other cars too! Nice Cougar. My Mom had a '73 Country Squire wagon that was yellow too! Best wishes, and keep motoring!!! Gotta love us car guys!! Sincerely, George B. from the Boston area.
Thats a lovely motor i think the mk1 capri is the best shape far better than the mk2 and mk3 suxh lovely lines. Most in uk were supplied with single headlights i think they were escort mk1 headlights and tail lights
My first car was a well used 71 Capri. I think it was a 1.3ltr 4 cyl. Slow-ass car! I loved it though! Great handling car! My high school buds with their full size Detroit cars could kick my ass on the straightaway, but I would lure them to windy roads and they didn't have a chance! It was a fun little car!
Grew up with one of these in the Bay Area. I’d be stunned if that’s really the original interior as the CA sun baked the original vinyl of ours :) awesome Capri though !
I'll take a 1971-72 Cougar XR7, hardtop or Convertible. Great cars!! 351C 2or4 bbl, great burnout machines. Mom, had 2 of these new. 1 courtesy of insurance compy.

They would go nuts for that in the uk
The lower rocker panels weren't resprayed in their original satin black, although the rear tail panel was...hmm
I am from the UK.
I don't understand when you say this is a Mercury Capri. I know this as a Ford Capri. It is built by Ford so who or what is Mercury?
Sounds like a Brit to me
Is th capri for sale?
is it a keeper or a seller?
Why did he ruin it $4000 to a auto what a shame. I was thinking wow up to he said he converted it.
