Never heard more noise at Elland Road than when wee Gordon scored against Leicester' also do people realise that the last English manager to win the top league in England was Sargent Wilko at Leeds.

Eddie Howe might challenge that with Newcastle in perhaps 3 or 4 seasons time?

was at many matches that season to enjoy much exciting football, even when below par the leadership examples of Strachs, Vinny, we al plus Wilko saw us through...

Just one question. Why is there a picture of Cantona at the start of the thread?

  • @Darwinion

Oxford away was the real turning point. The narrator mentions we'd gone two games previously without scoring. The jitters seemed to be setting in. But what's not mentioned is we were 2-0 down at half time in that Oxford match. At home with the radio I thought we'd blown it. But that turnaround gave the team confidence and from there we never really looked back. (Except for Barnsley home... the bastards)

Cantona's contribution was totally over egged. He hardly started ,and came to a team who were never out of the top two.

Don’t ever take away what Howard did !! and Vinny was great but Strachan was the King , he covered the squad for injuries all over unlike Bielsa has done this year ! Rocastle viradi shutt Kerr beglin mclelland hodge etc etc great squad

One of the great management achievements from Wilkinson. I guess we don't hear about his bad buys but it seemed like he made a lot of inspired recruitment choices. I would say the Sheffield United manager, Chris Wilder or Nuno Espirito Santo have done similar things but you just can't win the league these days by being brilliant as a manager without the bottomless pockets of Man City, Chelsea etc.

Yes but Wilkinson manged the biggest screw up of all time! He gave cantona to man utd and that was the catalyst for all their success make no mistake about that!

Cantona was sold because he was shagging Leslie Ash who was Lee Chapman's wife.

Didnt Glasgow Rangers absolutely humiliate and humble the Champions of England back in 92 in the first ever Champions League. Leeds utd Cheerishing European football he said. European dream he said. Leeds get knocked out in the qualifying round without winning and a Scottish side remained unbeaten and were a goal away from the first ever Champions League final 🤣😂😂😂

Some of the results are incorrect such as it was 2-1 at home to Middlesbrough not 1-0 and 1-0 at home to Newcastle not 2-0 , and when chasing the last league championship before the premier League Brian Moore states that it's the premier League they are challenging for , pretty awful dubbed on commentary as well , "contonah!" Who the fck is that? Oh you mean cantona 🙄 great times though MOT
