For the youngsters who don't know this era of Arsenal glory - Wenger was Pep before Pep. People said their possession style couldn't hold up against English physicality. He proved them wrong. As Pep's playing career at Barca was coming to a close he called Wenger wanting to join. That's the clearest example of how influenced Pep was by Wenger's Arsenal. Unfortunately, the funding of the Emirates stadium (which was necessary because Highbury's capacity was only 38k, the rise to 60k would see matchday revenue rise by over 50%) caused the team to continually sell star players. Wenger and Arsenal dominated the transfer market in these days continually buying low and selling high to maintain top 4 an incredible 19 YEARS IN A ROW from 98-2016. Even Fergie only managed 18 in a row from 96-13.

I became a diehard Arsenal fan in 1997 and that defeat in the 2006 Champions League final still ranks as the most excruciating night of my life. I cried myself to sleep and my eyes were very sore the next morning.
1980 European Cup Winners' Cup Final Valencia 0 - 0 Arsenal 5 - 4 pens I cried all night long. I could not go to school for the rest of the week and that weekend was my birthday. I didn't celebrate. I am now 58, I've been a Gooner since I was four years old. That game is burned in my brain over every single game I have ever seen and I've seen quite a few.

His advantage in recruiting French talent at the time French players were at a historic peak was a massive advantage. It was practically the French National team.
I am lucky that I was 10 years old when I first saw the very first Arsenal game with my father, who also is a big fan. And I'm in love with this club ever since. When they became the invincibles in 2004, I was so happy. When they lost the Champions League title in 2006, I was crying like hell that night. 21 years as an Arsenal fan, I am thrilled.
As much of a bummer as the post-Henry era was at times, Wenger's class is what led to Arteta falling in love with the club. The new era led by Arteta is upon us. The development of Saka(21), Odegaard (24), Martinelli (21), Saliba (22), etc., along with maintaining top of the table position makes the future look great.

Thanks for your honest comment. It's easy to get caught up in the moment & as you say jump on the bandwagon. I'm sure that a lot of fans who were "Wenger out" now regret it but don't have the courage to come out & admit it.
Imagine if Arsenal had owner like Roman, Wenger managed to drag the team with limited resources for many years , if he had the amount of financial support Chelsea had the story would be completely different
Superb stuff. I was a North Bank season ticket holder from 1988 and was lucky to experience the golden years. 43 minutes of smiles, tears and rekindled memories for me, thank you so very much. The mighty Arsenal will return.
As good as Arsenal were in the Arsene Wenger Years, he was always hampered by constant limited transfer budgets. He was instrumental in the rebuild of the Colney training ground - making it state of the art and bringing it up to date with a lot of modern equipment, and then the obvious construction and move to the brand new Emirates Stadium. It's crazy to think that he could sign quality players, build such strong teams and win titles and trophies with what little resources he had. An incredible man.
Addendum: And we did it ALL, without the backing of a Billionaire Chairman pumping bottomless funds into the club!! So, suck on it Chelsea, United and City!!!

This is a fantastic documentary! I was wondering if you would ever do one for the later and more difficult Wenger years (2006-2018), it would be an interesting watch. Keep up the great work!
The more you learn and know more about Asene Wenger, the more you respect him. Positive, respectful and professional in and out of the field. A decent human being. Worked for the dickhead Stan Kroenke unfortunately and all the failure and frustration from fans were not directed to the owner but transferred to him alone. When Wenger was the manger, fans pointed fingers at him for his fault, then he left. In came Emery, here we go again it’s his fault, then he left. Arteta stepped in, won 2 cups and 10th firm in the league, one week played like Arsenal and another like Sunderland and that begs the question: Whose fault is that exactly?
thank you for this, Arsenal was my first favorite club! You are amazing at what you do, and every video so far was one of the best football docs that I have ever watched. Incredible work!

Beauty of life, everyone has his side of the story. As Barcelona fan, that was the first Barca UCL since 1991, and thier rivalry with madrid was intense, Ronaldinho and eto against the Galactic's.
You`re not alone. To this day I say the ref cocked up by sending off Jens. I remember Souness after the game saying it totally ruined the Champions League Final for Arsenal, & the neutrals as a spectacle. He should have let the resulting tap in after Etoo went over, stand. I still believe we would have turned them over from 1-0 down. We would have still had Pires on the pitch, with over an hour to play.
I was born in 1999. Started watching football in 2004-05. Watching Bergkamp, Henry, Pereira and team is like having flashbacks of some beautiful dream you had in the childhood.

Great videos bro. Love these documentaries! Im from Norway and I have become a rosenborg supporter. "Rosenborg Ballklubb" was founded in 1917 and has two golden eras, one in the 60s , I believe. And of course the late 80s to the early 2000s when Nils Arne Eggen was the head coach. I personally think Rosenborg is the biggest club in Norway but if you want to make a video about some nordic clubs , then I would definitely recommend Rosenborg as one of them. Rosenborg won 2- 0 against real Madrid, drawed 1-1 against Juventus , won 3-0 against Borussia dortmund , and of course they won 2-1 against AC Milan at the san siro. Peace from Norway !🇧🇻😀😎
Respect to Wenger and what he has achieved but it seems this team has a long history of bottling things up. Arteta seems to be doing exactly what Wenger did then too
This is such a legendary football club with so much history and in that we had so much tears of pain and joy you cant buy from money that.....Arsenal will always be in my heart, a life long fan in this journey. Also Arsene Wenger is such a legend not only in Arsenal but on the whole of Premier League
The Champions League loss to Barca and more recently the Europa League loss to Chelsea were some of the most painful memories for me. The team that won the double and Invincibles though should have done so much better in Europe. The team we had in the final was no where near as good as prime Arsenal. I think the EL one hurts because we played soooo well then bottle it against Chelsea in that manner. The Barca match is so frustrating due to the red card.. It does make you wonder what could have been if we didn't lose such an important player that early in the match.
To be an authentic Arsenal fan you must be old enough to have experienced the workaday football produced by Terry Neill, Don Howe and George Graham teams. My first game in 1968 at Highbury was a terrific match against Leeds, earnest endeavour epitomised the match, my gaze was transfixed to Jackie Charlton, his giraffe like gait something to behold. But the team provided honest, dogged, and determined football, the GG era really solidified Arsenal's boring reputation, the 89 team probably provided my favourite ever sporting moment. The Wenger era obviously provided great beauty and plenty of excitement, but the first ten years was an amalgamation of GG's 'boring' solid era and Wenger's imaginative, stylish tactics, this is my point, the greatest period in Arsenal's history was the binding of traditional values and the fresh, French fantasy of Wenger's tactics. Those who experienced the dreary days of Howe and Neill and then the joie li vive of Wenger's football have balance, I've always found the best supporters are those with football equilibrium, experiencing the joy of winning and the despair of losing, similarly, my preferred Arsenal people are those with similar symmetry to my own, appreciative of the workaday, ecstasy with the fancy stuff.

@@yw9113 you can’t just list a bunch of great players and say “this team should have won more”. Any team’s ability to win is dependent on not only their own team, but also their opposition. If they had the budget of United and Chelsea, that list of great players would have been even longer. For one, CR7 was ready to go to Arsenal before United.

You gotta be from the US...
Muppets to believe this
After watching this I think we owe Arsene Wenger an apology for thinking he was the problem after 2005/2006 seaaon. He deserves all the love and respect from us.
I became a diehard Arsenal fan in 1997 and that defeat in the 2006 Champions League final still ranks as the most excruciating night of my life. I cried myself to sleep and my eyes were very sore the next morning.
Not an Arsenal fan. That was truly horrid.
1980 European Cup Winners' Cup Final
Valencia 0 - 0 Arsenal

I cried all night long. I could not go to school for the rest of the week and that weekend was my birthday. I didn't celebrate.
I am now 58, I've been a Gooner since I was four years old. That game is burned in my brain over every single game I have ever seen and I've seen quite a few.
I’m so glad I wasn’t old enough to remember that game 😭😭😭😭
i supported arsenal from the day i joined form one in 2003 and felt in love with it,that 2006 champions leage final with barcelona still hurts me up to date,i remember how i cried and my mum was just consoling me may she rest in peace..thank you for the good memeories lads ...18 years being a fan and am still in love with this club
His advantage in recruiting French talent at the time French players were at a historic peak was a massive advantage. It was practically the French National team.
I agree, I used to think of Arsenal as being a French team that just happened to play in England!
He Wenger paid dearly for it from English referees, always biased when it comes to Wenger arsenal matches 😭😭😭wenger suffer alot for this club.
If wenger had this team in his prime, I swear we would go invincible again
@@Kira-lyagamiyou mean the current Team? Do you even realise how many world champions there were at Arsenal and that time? This Team now would never win against the invincibles

Without Arsène Wenger Arsenal would not have reach at this level. He made Arsenal Europe top 10 club, they built new stadium 🏟, they are on top 6 six in every English Premiere League, Arsenal can purchase any players they want, they are known all over the world, they have millions of fans around the world and playing wonderful football because of Arsène Wenger. Superb stuff. I was a North Bank season ticket holder from 1988 and was lucky to experience the golden years. 43 minutes of smiles, tears and rekindled memories for me, thank you so very much. The mighty Arsenal will return.
Kroenke out. I'm a liverpool supporter but respect arsenal a lot. Sad chelsea think they're the biggest club in london now.

Such tough scenarios for Wenger. Phenomenal club. This season we got this. Come on the Arsenal!
Just found this channel and let me tell you, this is some of the best football content on this platform, remember me when you get big bro 👍
The reason i became a fan of this massive club. Arsene Wenger....Thank you Arsene!
Good for you hopefully we are still a favorite and Arteta can bring back the glory days....
Paris 2006 and Baku 2019 were some of the most hurtful moments as an Arsenal supporter
As a chelsea supporter, Baku in 2019 was my favourite match to watch ever, it was fun to watch from the second half, lots of goals, no stress coz we were all over u guys, and Eden’s last match for us
2006 was heartbreaking, 2019 was just humiliating
This is the best documentary I've ever watched. It's so good that I wish I hadn't watched it looool. Now I can't watch it again
I think I have watched this several times. And every time I teared up at the 06 UCL final loss. And after being so impressive in the knockout stages, even led in the final after down to 10 men.
That Champions League Final on 2006 was when I started supporting Arsenal and I have never looked back since then.

You`re not alone. To this day I say the ref cocked up by sending off Jens.

Wow! This documentary is amazing. Narration is captivating. Good job guys.
The video quality is so quality and great to watch. Big up to you and this channel.
Masha'Allah Fahad, this is top quality content, brother. Well done, and thank you for this.

I keep coming back to the intro every other day, it gives me goosebumps EVERY SINGLE TIME. Unbelievably good documentary. You're amazing.
