As a Celtic, it was the one and only time I hoped for a Rangers victory. Why ? Because, just like the original " battle of Britain (Celtic v Leeds 1970 ), Rangers were written off by the English media, just as Celtic were before their matches against Leeds - and in 1992, as in 1970, the Scottish champions emerged victorious, both defeating the Leeds teams home and away.
Celtic fan but I remember watching this game and kinda cheering on Rangers. Yea, there is the obvious rivalry but we are all Scots, and beating an English side is always good in my book. Especially as they are so condescending of Scottish football.
I know exactly what you mean Mark, I spent 3 years in London in mid 80s and it’s hard to explain to your own supporters that you don’t mind Celtic in my case doing well against English teams
Thanks for upload. Remember the buzz that year, i was 9 and my grandad took me to all the games at ibrox. Amazing. Funny seeing an official video playing Billy Boys at the start 🤣
the game was the first time I had payed attention to any football match, and it made me a Leeds fan at 12 years old, strangely enough it was also the day of my wife's 8th birthday, we wouldn't meet for another 11 years.
That was a fantastic Rangers side full of players with the perfect mix of character and skill. What a will to win they had. You just don't get sides built like that anymore.

The Leeds players that played the night of the game at Ibrox still talk about the atmosphere as the best they’ve heard, Gary Mac for example! We just gunned them down in those games! The lack of money doesn't meanwe cannot compete. Look at what Jim Mcleans Dundee United in the 80s.
