What a great midfield Leeds had back then. Echos of the great midfield of the 60's and early 70s. I had also forgotten how dangerous they were from set pieces too. Good memories.
Leeds fans well remember the midfield - Speed , Batty , McAllister , Strachan - BUT really forget the contribution Steve Hodge also made to the team with his goals.
Great review, wonderful memories & DESERVED CHAMPIONS - so many headed goals from super crosses & setplays - something we don't do much these days MOT😢
Brilliant midfield quartet, painful watching saints get beat by 4 at home though(remember being there and Strachan destroyed us on the night, ran the game)RIP Gary Speed....
At the end of this programme Wilkinson address's the Leeds fans in the City center below and said we're have to go win it again and that was what cost them!! It was sheer pressure to do it all over again, with the benefit of hindsight Wilkinson should have just concentrated on the Eroupen Cup and settled for a top 4 or 6 finish in the league 😕
11:22: First great GOAL of the season AND for Leeds United from my all-time club favorite player: Tony Dorigo! In that season we won, he scored 3 GOALS, didn't he?
At the celebrations in Leeds City Centre at the end Wilkinson told the fans "We're have to go and win it again" it must have been the pressure to do it all again that cost Leeds the following season, Wilkinson should have concentrated on the Eroupen Cup and settle for a top 4 or 6 finish in the league
I think they really pushed everything to the limit to win that year. Not thinking about the consequences it brought them the following season. Selling there best potential player Cantona to there rivals was the biggest mistake ever. It's like selling Ronaldo to leeds on the same level. They were letting in quite a few goals that season but had the strike force to overcome that. They were at the end of that season obviously knackered. It showed it the following season. If they came 2nd or 3rd or even 4th maybe we wouldn't be in that situation at the end of that season. We would of pushed to try to get better. Anyway I'm an absolutely an avid leeds fan and really hope we will push it this next season to get were we belong.
@@rossomac21your centre backs chipped in with a few goals, I remember Chris Whyte getting a few. And I thought your full backs were really progressive attacking full backs who assisted in a quite a few goals. Similar to today’s modern wingbacks.
That’s football in general. Back then it was 4,4,2 and lump the ball to the big striker or down the channels. In a way although the football wasn’t the best, it seemed a bit more exiting than the possession based stuff we see now.
We have got to thank Leeds in all honesty. Their title win in 1992 inspired Man Utd to 25 more years of total dominance which led to them having 53 more trophies than Leeds and reclaiming their throne as England's most successful club.
+Sam Crofts I'm flattered that you still find the time to hate Leeds you bitter little shit twaddler...oh and by the way, your times up. Man utd are crap now lol
Just spent a fantastic afternoon during COVID19 watching one of the greatest seasons of football ever at LUFC. Made an old man very happy lol.
God bless this wonderful football club. X

Leeds had so many creative players capable of scoring goals, which was one of the reasons why they won the league that season.
Lee chapman the most underrated striker to win the league
one of the best all uk midfields ever, RIP gary, sadly missed
If those players like strachan, chapman, lukic were younger they could of dominated like manc united.
great season 😊 I remember it well ! all this before too much 💵💵💵💵💵 ruined it 😡
4:34 didn't realise Chandler from Friends was a Leeds fan.
Some good memories there. Fantastic midfield, RIP Gary. What the hell happened the following season?

McAllister and D.Batty are really cool!
15:35 get used to seeing leeds united name on the top 2 of this sheet because it will be there for the rest of the season

The following season Leeds sold Cantona and replaced him with Frank Strandli...failed to win a single away game...and finished 5th bottom
When we fuck up, we sure commit to it 100%

I don’t know how but Leeds will win premier league sooner then you think they have this boom and bust cycle going on through their history
@@natureclips5849back in the championship so it ain’t going to happen 😂😂😂
They were the days ALAW
They were great champions of England until they met the famous Glagow Rangers
True blue Bears I’ll give you that. Rangers had a fantastic team then👍👍👍
Alan Armitage yea they did won't be seen again I'm afraid
Proper gangsta, Lee Chapman was in that box.
Gary Mac was class!
Were so good that season they would've tempted even the most patriotic of rival supporters to buy a Leeds season ticket....
i love leeds united #mot
@ 1:22:53 Marching On Together the club song of Leeds united FC
Howard Wilkinson must be the least media savvy manager, he comes across as dour as drying paint. Good job he was better at club and player management.
TelexToTexel Does a certain Mr Bielsa not remind you of Wilkos style with the media. Haha. Doing the job on the field is what really matters. MOT
To be fair, the other 21 managers in the division would have been similar in demeanour.
Here we goooo were Leeds United
David Batty reminds me of Vardy
That Sheffield Utd away game was freakish
Remember Newcastle 4 years later. The had an even more awful April just like Leeds here and did not recover
Happy days.
The days of Tony Yeboah? First Premiership season? Remember it well.
Not yet - he was a few seasons later . Superb player though .
who's here after leeds united are promoted to the PL
Batty V Man City goal - Bedlam !!
Got crushed to F**k that day in the Lowfields
This is the 30 year curse. Why did it start I wonder
ooh ah Contona? ;-)
Gary Speed RIP
Amanda Stavley and Saudi should of bought Leeds instead of Newcastle

With all due respect to the players, it has to be the worst defensive line-up to ever win a title.... the front six saved their skin enormously.

This club is on its way back and these days are on their way back. MOT.

No Vinnie Jones & Chris Camara
Wilko had better players and certainly better finishers (aside from Pablo!) but Bielsa’s team play infinitely better football than this team.

and now, Sam Crofts, well...
@substance74 look at newcastle...

3rd in the league? Wow, that sure is shit. Id much rather be 20th in the championship......
+Sam Crofts Man U bought the title as they have massive funds, just like todays teams. Hope Leicester break that routine.

Hope that leeds utd will be in premier league in 2021.
