yeah, there's not a youtuber out there who's done what you've done in terms of giveaways. really appreciated the close-ups on this one. it's truly a beautiful work.
That knife does have a great sound & looks even better. I love the thumb ramp poon really draws my eyes to it & imagine it feels great. The way he has rounded the edges makes it lóok much more refined & comfortable in your hand. The hidden hardware leaves a more smooth look to body construction. Also it doesn't take away from the overall beauty of the materials used. The size seems beefy but not too large for every day carry. The differences between the older & this newer created gem, shows how much he has improved the details altogether. Who ever receives this piece of awesome craftsmanship, will truly own something beyond the norm! No, there's no one who has given this caliber of a gift in the history of knife channels. While there are some content creators that spend their own money for giveaway prizes, none of this cost. I appreciate you sharing this comparison & this is my comment comment! 😆 Take care buddy!
It's cool to see the progression of a maker over time. They are all beautiful knives and anyone who owns one is lucky to have it in their collection. I could personally never afford one but I'm blessed to have the collection i do and am more blessed to be part of an amazing community. Videos like yours makes it nice for me because i get to see knives I've never seen and hear different opinions that set me on a good path in my collecting. I'm considering selling a majority of my collection just to obtain a knife of this stature. Thank you for all you do in and for the community. Maybe someday we'll get to meet and talk knives in person. Funny thing is I'm in orange county and probably not that far from you. Lol
Very nice work on these and such a cool design. There is something very satisfying about the opening and closing action on folding knives. All of the parts mechanically going into place. I really like these bigger folders. Smaller ones are great and useful too.
It's always fantastic to see already incredible makers continue to push themselves to create an even more amazing product. The top swedge is more refined on the new one and it matches the rest of the grind so well. For me, Brian Nadeau always had a very satisfying action. Comment, Comment
This is what i meant when I asked about your oldest custom on the live a few weeks back...I have been really into Morrish Made custom knives lately and was able to scoop one of his older knives from 2017...It's cool to see how things and processes have changed over the years to the other knives I have from him from like 22/23
Comment lol. Love the comparison. So cool to see the evolution over time, especially with the chamfered edges and snappier action. My archangel has the original pivot but love the 10 pointer for sure. I think Frank originally made that for Jim’s Battle back in the day but am not 100% sure. Thanks for another great video to watch while bored at work!
@@DirkWerning you got it. Grimsmo, Brian Tighe, Rod Olson, Northarm, etc. make knives with flipper tabs that I can easily buy and retailers can import them, but if I had one sent it would probably be seized. Just stupidity
Not really any visual differences, but that sound...must have been a lof of work on the alignment, tolerances, and everything. You gotta love it when makers really believe in CQI! Beautiful
Comment or something😂!!! It was an awesome review seeing the how Mr Fischer has refined his knives over the years!!! Great review and awesome knives!!!
I just wanted to add that Dirk is absolutely correct that all you need to do is reach out and contact a maker about getting a knife made for you. If their books are open they are wanting you to do that. I have done it twice now and they have both been amazing experiences and I can not wait until I have both these knives in my possession.
@@markparks9996 I think there’s always room for improvement. And just naturally over time a maker refines and tweaks things to be better than the last one.
The pivots on the twins are so sick. You can definitely see and hear the action difference between the older one and new one. The newer one looks and sounds way more satisfying to open and close. But both look like amazing pieces. It's awesome being able to see how much a maker progresses in only 4 or 5 years. Seems like they are advancing so fast now.
Comment or something. Love comparing early models to later models of makers. The snappy action on knives is such an incredible feeling that you cant describe unless you're sick in the head....i mean passionate like us lol.
I find it really interesting how even though it's been over five years since the first version was made it has the same style of the maker throughout the years but evolves into the more refined version of the same design. He has the same language kinda David Lespect style always comes out almost the same style in every version
I LOVE the shredded carbon and dark theme of the old one. The new iteration seems much more refined though. It’s great to see a custom that’s not just intended for a shelf, it really looks like they are meant to be used. I’m not one for safe queens, even with them being so expensive they would make for great users. That pocket clip is the only thing I would change about any of them! Otherwise, freaking AWESOME knives!
Haha I definitely agree with you about just reaching out to makers when you want a knife made. I have done it a few times now and seems like the higher end hand made guys say yes more often than not. But most cnc guys are booked up and you have to either win a loto, grab one at a show or be super quick with the fcfs stuff.
@@JoeyH832 that’s sort of true also. But I always say reaching out is always a good place to start. And if they say no today, reach out again in a few months they might say yes. It’s about building relationships with people and over time… you’ll get something made.
Flipping a knife that’s a step ahead of everything else you’ve tried by miles is a special experience. The problem I see with it is its only going to get harder to find something better each time (for me so far, it’s my Shiro F3NS). Also love the refinement on these Archangels. I much prefer when someone comes up with a design and refines it where possible over time than when people (or companies) constantly throwing new knives out.
@@adamzappia2213 oh I agree. It’s tough to out do yourself each time. And after dinging a great flipper knife it is hard to find the next better action. That’s the game though isn’t it 😂
I couldn't afford a handmade David Lespect so I finally went with the CKF one and I still haven't received it yet but I'm excited to get it in my hands!
Super cool comparison , things I took away from this is I like the new clip better visually. The cutout is very pleasing on the eye. The acoustics sound better, and the smoother edges is good to see. He’s definitely kept the same core idea but with all those little improvements showed a lot of growth as a maker. I do agree with you though the backspacer looked better on the older model. My question for you is other then the clip adjustment is there any other things you would like to see changed / updated on future versions?
@ I’m always down for rounding off edges and making its more comfortable for daily task. Especially if I’m locking into a project and the knife will be in my hand for awhile. Tough mixing the balance of wanting almost a more aggressive edge to get a good strong grip when doing things like food prep for example and there’s oil or whatever else involved , as well as getting it nice and smooth for comfort while doing daily task around work and home. It’s amazing how much ergonomics really play into the construction of a knife
I wonder how competitive that family is? I wonder if they secretly pick each other's work apart. Do you think Todd looks at the Battle (I think that's Frank not sure) and says I can do better?
