jumping spiders are actually really smart players. Their intelligence seeks the highest out of all the other builds in the game. They’re strategists who optimise the most out of the least amount of effort. They can take out opponents 2 or 3 times the size they are. I mean honestly almost all spiders are smart players, they know how to use their environment well even though they’re blind most of the day.
Jumping spiders were correctly placed in A tier. However, their intelligence rating should perhaps have been a little higher. Had a girlfriend who had some as pets and I swear those little things recognized her. I'm not afraid of spiders, but don't really want them crawling on me either, but these jumping spiders actually seemed to show a limited kind of dog-like affection for her. They often rode around on her during the day when she was at work and just out and about. They were actually pretty cool little creatures.
You are definitely right. I can't remember what documentary I was watching but in it the researchers believed the jumping spiders to be the smartest in the whole insect kingdom. They use their eyes to communicate with each other I guess.
There's a really good book, Children of Time, about how Jumping Spiders were left to evolve on another planet and became an extremely intelligent species based on what they already had going on with them.

You can gain resistance to that debuff through research. Very few spiders can bite you let alone kill you and most bites attributed to spiders are the fault of other household pests.

There is already a spider like that in a sense. It's a type of jumping spider in SE Asia. In multiple studies it has shown to have it's own form of communication that it only uses with members of it's species. It also has been observed to actually have higher intelligence than almost all mammals other than primates, dolphins, or whales. When hunting larger targets it will actually throw rocks as a form of distraction, use previously caught small insects as bait etc...

for people asking about the goliath bird eater- they're just big tarantulas, and funnily enough nowhere near the most aggressive. Bird eaters, like other tarantulas from the americas, are a lot less aggressive than ones from asia or africa, and make good pets (provided you have a basic idea of what you're doing).
Not necessarily. animal builds have immune systems. Unless you help your host somehow, it will attack you. Plus you have a short lifespan to gain experience.
Another thing to consider is that both the tarantula and the jumping spider have the lesser known ironically cute perk which was shadow dropped in the 21st century update of the game where some players of the human build provide support to them in a similar way cats and dog players are supported

Yes but he went over the fact that jumping spiders have excellent vision, mapping and planing, especially for a tiny 2 cm being In the rest of the clip he showed of it attacking the other spider, you see the jumping spider spot the web from afar, then scanning its surroundings and coming up with an attack plan (and of course it comes up with some splinter cell style stuff)

I would have to agree. Jumping spiders also have some of the most intelligent hunting strategies in the spider guild. They actively change their hunting patterns and maneuvers to optimize EXP gain. Data miners are still just figuring out the depth of their hunting capabilities. :D

I think this tier list deserves a remake since it's 5 years old. I just watched the insect tier list which was amazing. I think, perhaps, even instead of a new spider tier list, maybe make an arachnid one? Btw, Jumping Spiders should have HIGH intel levels. They are extremely smart and that’s part of the reason why they’re so accurate, because they need to carefully calculate their jumps.
There's also evidence of them running around the edges of other spider victims webs and tucking on the strings in order to make the spider react so that it positions itself more favourably to the jumping spiders optimal attack position. Quite smart
Had a Brazilian Wandering spider in my house before. We tried spooking, it didn't budge. We tried attacking it with a pole, it bit the pole. We tried fire. It didn't die. We had to stomp it with a pole 3 times and apply fire before killing it. It was too big to be left alone. Br wandering spiders are so aggressive you should approach them with caution. The mofos have no fear. Just hatred to everything in their path.

If evolution has something to say, they may become the first s teir spider. All it takes is the eusocial trait to mutate. Pretty much once, and even ants will be given a money run. The one problem is humans, we will likely Torch their webs.
I’d say the intelligence stat of Jummping Spiders should have been mentioned. They need to form complex plans of attack to kill other spiders that use webs. First, they have to observe their surroundings and calculate the best form of approach to kill the enemy web-base-using spiders, then take the risky jump. Second, if now route is available, they try to putt them selves on a branch above the web, then use their silk as an anchor point to lower themselves down for a sneak attack.
Unique among arachnids, jumping spiders also have the "Adorable" buff, which can sometimes prevent it from drawing aggro against humans. It certainly works against me, I love those little buggers.

There was a Jumping Spider main at my High School who was pretty keen on camping the "Trash Can" Area that's so common for Fly mains. This Jumping Spider main had potentially the most overpowered camping spot of any player I've ever come across. Huge tech for any up and coming Jumping Spider Mains. That specific Player convinced me that Jumping Spiders can't be ranked outside of S tier.
Oh ya there’s only a few species out there, but there’s social tarantulas that can get around 5 or 6 inches in size and will live with around over 20 in one web. Fun pets

The tarantula build also has a much higher size max than most other spider builds. The Goliath birdeater is a great example of how minmaxing the size spec of a tarantula build both opens up new PvP opportunities and deters most human players through sheer Intimidation.

Nursery Web Spiders are also pretty cute, they're part of the wolf spider subclass, and despite being quite large they prefer curling into a ball and squeaking to attempt to scare away predators and only bite as a last resort. One of my sisters suffers from the arachnophobia debuff, and even she found this cute.

When their eyes go black, that means it's looking at you. The family name is Salticidae, and there are several genera. Fun fact: There's a player by the name of Number16 that has the longest standing victory lap record for any spider faction of 43 years. It was a trapdoor spider build. Unfortunately, their longstanding run was cut short when a crow player discovered their location and dug them up.
The jumping spider's high intelligence and charisma stat could boost them to S tier, particularly if they're being kept as human companions. Very few arachnids get the kind of popularity and boost from humans that they do, and they're not seen as as much of a threat because of this. In the city biome in particular they could be considered S tier, since they can navigate around more easily and are less likely to be killed by their human co-habitants. Unfortunately that does mean they share space with songbirds and pigeons, however, which would be a dangerous threat to them.

There are a bunch of spider branches that have a low damage stat but are still very popular among players. The Tick build seems quite effective as they have no natural predators and have spread over a majority of the map. Also some low stat spiders are very well adapted to live in human bases. The Pholcidae branch for example also have the ability to confuse predators with their vibration skill.
up where we live in the up country Hawaii, no cockroaches, mosiqtoes or ants but we got lots of spiders. not cane or brown spiders, just little to medium size black ones(no hour glasses) that love all the bugs, we have to sweep/spray for them once a month around the outside of our house, inside on the ceilings, corners, porch because they set up fast.
Hey man, i'm a spider expert. And Black widows normally live in dark places. If your socks weren't in a dark place, then they'll be fine. Trust me, I live in Arizona where there are tons of black widows. And they are more common in the southwestern states. However one kind is found in the some of the northern states, the Northern Widow, and one kind in florida, the red widow.

I would have to agree. Jumping spiders also have some of the most intelligent hunting strategies in the spider guild. They actively change their hunting patterns and maneuvers to optimize EXP gain. Data miners are still just figuring out the depth of their hunting capabilities. :D

I think this tier list deserves a remake since it's 5 years old. I just watched the insect tier list which was amazing. I think, perhaps, even instead of a new spider tier list, maybe make an arachnid one? She claimed she was better at crafting these items than the mods, so Athena, one of the mods at the time, challenged her. Had a Brazilian Wandering spider in my house before. We tried spooking, it didn't budge. We tried attacking it with a pole, it bit the pole. We tried fire. It didn't die. We had to stomp it with a pole 3 times and apply fire before killing it. It was too big to be left alone.

I’d say the intelligence stat of Jummping Spiders should have been mentioned. They need to form complex plans of attack to kill other spiders that use webs.
First, they have to observe their surroundings and calculate the best form of approach to kill the enemy web-base-using spiders, then take the risky jump.
Second, if now route is available, they try to putt them selves on a branch above the web, then use their silk as an anchor point to lower themselves down for a sneak attack.

Unique among arachnids, jumping spiders also have the "Adorable" buff, which can sometimes prevent it from drawing aggro against humans. It certainly works against me, I love those little buggers.
Fun fact, some jumping spiders build use humans to protect themselves from bird players and other threats to them

There was a Jumping Spider main at my High School who was pretty keen on camping the "Trash Can" Area that's so common for Fly mains.
This Jumping Spider main had potentially the most overpowered camping spot of any player I've ever come across.

The tarantula build also has a much higher size max than most other spider builds. The Goliath birdeater is a great example of how minmaxing the size spec of a tarantula build both opens up new PvP opportunities and deters most human players through sheer Intimidation.

Fun fact: There's a player by the name of Number16 that has the longest standing victory lap record for any spider faction of 43 years. It was a trapdoor spider build.
Unfortunately, their longstanding run was cut short when a crow player discovered their location and dug them up.
The jumping spider's high intelligence and charisma stat could boost them to S tier, particularly if they're being kept as human companions. Very few arachnids get the kind of popularity and boost from humans that they do, and they're not seen as as much of a threat because of this. In the city biome in particular they could be considered S tier, since they can navigate around more easily and are less likely to be killed by their human co-habitants. Unfortunately that does mean they share space with songbirds and pigeons, however, which would be a dangerous threat to them.

Was hoping to see the goliath bird eater get a ranking but still a great video nonetheless! It's interesting to see that you've somewhat scaled back on the stat display sometime between then and now.
There are a bunch of spider branches that have a low damage stat but are still very popular among players.
The Tick build seems quite effective as they have no natural predators and have spread over a majority of the map.
Also some low stat spiders are very well adapted to live in human bases. The Pholcidae branch for example also have the ability to confuse predators with their vibration skill.

up where we live in the up country Hawaii, no cockroaches, mosiqtoes or ants but we got lots of spiders. not cane or brown spiders, just little to medium size black ones(no hour glasses) that love all the bugs, we have to sweep/spray for them once a month around the outside of our house, inside on the ceilings, corners, porch because they set up fast.
This is the type of content that once made YT compete against TV and now against streaming platforms.

Hey man, i'm a spider expert. And Black widows normally live in dark places. If your socks weren't in a dark place, then they'll be fine. Trust me, I live in Arizona where there are tons of black widows. And they are more common in the southwestern states. However one kind is found in the some of the northern states, the Northern Widow, and one kind in florida, the red widow.
