    They need asteroid bases controlled by NPCs that have refueling and random rearming but only if you're positive faction or you have to seize the base with a raid, then the faction your party is positive with takes control.

Im playing WOW now and in WOW 2 factions Horde and Alliance so you 100% know whos your enemy, in this game you must always ask your self who in front of you enemy or friendly player.

    1:39:00 The problem with CIG's way of doing things is not that they don't iterate, it's that they waste time doing things that anyone who has played MMOs knows will not work. Just because CIG can afford to try things out doesn't mean they should not care to learn from the mistakes and lessons of three decades of games.

  • @VFW-Mayer
    @VFW-Mayer 5 месяцев назад +8

    CIG should not forget to use patrols as a way to create a safe entry into an area. You can camp, but if the standard patrol that comes around every hour shows up, you will be fighting AI and Players who team up. Like in WOW when you stay near a roaming patrol as alliance. Any horde show up and attack you then they agro the patrol too.
    I want to know what the numbers of players per server / virtual server can have. A small virtual server for 1 - 100, a medium for 100 - 500, and a large for 500 - 2000? Let us know how many servers will it take to support 10,000 players on a shard or however CIG is dividing up areas and population density.

      @Haegemon actions speak louder than words. They have intended a lot of things that haven't come to fruition. This one is arguably the most important foundational piece they've tried. Without it, everything else remains a mess of glitches.
      When I can feel confident I can make a milk run without my ship hitting invisible obstacles, blow up when I move crates around, or any of a thousand stability related issues, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. I'd like to feel safe tossing some clutter into the common space of my Mole without worrying it'll result in my ship exploding.

    Kingdom Come Deliverance had quests that didnt feel repetitive AT ALL! It had a linear flow that tricked you into thinking every single encounter was different. Even the fighting didnt get stale for the entirety of the story.

  • @Opnn8d1
    @Opnn8d1 5 месяцев назад +1

    I don't have a problem with repetitive system facilitated quests, if they are open to players at any time, rather than slapping a cool down timer on the player. Having a factory that players can work in with different stages of production tied to consoles. One person offloads materials at the factory. Another player relocates specific materials to specific machines that convert the materials into components which in turn must be relocated to the assembly line of whatever the factory produces. The system will move the materials automatically over time, but players voluntarily getting involved would speed up the process thereby making the facility's efficiency player driven. The more players working on the different tasks related to a project. Those tasks would each require a certification to be able to take, which would mean running a training program that tells the player what a task involves and requires that they do it. Once certified, the player can do that task anywhere in the game that requires it. Materials relocation is just moving materials from one place in a facility. While repetitive, every relocation of materials is a piece of a larger project. It means something.
    Meaningful open tasks appeal to me. Anyone can do them, but they have to be done so other things can be done.

  • @MikesBasementx
    @MikesBasementx 5 месяцев назад +2

    The issue with letting/having players do it, is two-fold. One is that if players are suppose to be the gas station, it require that someone is willing to do it, which isn't always the case. The other more pressing issue is that, no one likes to sit around and wait for someone to come with the fuel truck. So, designing a system where it is more the exception than the rule that you would have to rely on other players to continue.

    • @BoatLoadsofDope
      @BoatLoadsofDope 5 месяцев назад

      Best way imo would just be having stations buy fuel. And have supply and demand set the price of fuel from stations.

    By requiring access keys and items to the "better zones" they just created a reason to camp the lower ones.
    And there is only one way to limit the farming of access items, namely to limit them so that each player can only have one (or one set of different ones - if there are more).
    And they should also be tied to the character so that they cannot be passed on to others.
    BTW.. If the contested zone is so big and the rewards are better the deeper we are in the zone... will we even be able to carry it? Or can we only fit one single thing in our backpack like now? At least one full armor set will be nice..
    So if the main prize is for example a ship component, I'm curious how they will handle it. How do people get it out? With a tractor beam? Back through the entire zone? And if they run into another group, will they lose it? And if they do get out, will they still have a ship there or will someone shoot it down? I reckon it will be a reward coupon and not a direct physical reward.
    Although it would probably be more fun.
    Actually, it would be "reverse camping" where people would not be prevented from getting in, but getting out with a reward. :D
    Ah OK, there will be some elevators to get out... so they will be camped. :)

    In my opinion, within the confines of Star Citizen’s core functionality, there is a lot of contextual grey areas as to what can be defined as ‘greifing’ vs legitimate PvP but I feel there are some key points and principles that most can agree upon: 1. The use of none combat objects outside of a combat environment to cause deliberate malicious harm to a none combatant is greifing (i.e. using a cargo box as a glorified hammer inside a safe area).
    2. Pad ramming.
    3. The camping of a player spawn zone where alternative relocation is not possible (not currently an issue but pyro play test had an example of this). Camping a ship’s med bed is not greifing as the player is only confined until either the ship no longer exists or they manage to access the terminal to change location.

    • @Haegemon
      @Haegemon 5 месяцев назад

      The best contested zone will be on the open where camping is a must, like in battlefield games.

    It would be cool if they made asteroid bases of varying sizes that could be classified by small to large and had 2 intrinisic materials in them, an abundant low profit material and a high value scarce material that could be discovered
    Via scanning.
    The two outposts you could create would be a permanent or temporary outpost. A permanent outpost would allow you to extract an abundant material from the asteroid that is relatively low profit but gives you an income for working it and the ability to do that rewards you for claiming, discovering ,and defending it. The permanent base could operate on a core that has to be fed materials to stabilize it and if you fail to stabilize it then it can go critical and the base could destruct, on the PvP side of things make it to where the bases core could be detonated via hacking chip which initiates a self destruct sequence. The whole point of this offensive strategy would allow players of enemy orgs to remove critical spawning locations for players if they use it as a FOB.
    A temporary outpost would allow you to extract the most valuable resources but requires you to extract as much as possible before a structural failure like the asteroid going critical and exploding maybe depending on the size of an asteroid determines how long you have id say 30mins to 2 hours. This would add a sense of urgency and if you bottle necked the way the mining machines spat out the more people you have the more profit you could gain but if people get too greedy when the asteroid explodes it despawns the asteroid kills the player and destroys any boxes in the blast radius.
    With scanning perhaps depending on the level of activity at a given outpost could create spikes in EMs that could be discovered by players exploring or scouting and from there players could choose to engage in piracy or assist in the operation to get higher profit margins or take over the operation
    This type of design would promote exploration, discovery, cargo, mining, piracy and PvP where its exclusively player operated no friction with PvE entities just you versus a clock and the threat of others finding you and anytime a base goes critical you get an explosion out of it.

      Since then all we have seen is basically that demo or some other snipbits to let us know they're working on it.

    These asteroid bases need to be an example of what is potentially craftable for bases, etc.
    To add meaningful gameplay, future blue prints, or special components, etc. need to be found/farmed at these locations. Add nefarious gameloop NPC's at some to provide missions for reds.
    To add to what SaltE said, we need to build an asteroid base where we can offer refueling, repair, markets, refining, and be our own faction.
    We don't have enough conversations around what will be provided to Org gameplay. This is a very key issue that we know so little about. How will CIG facilitate capitol ship control where orgs literally live on these ships, or travel in a flotilla? So many questions.

    • @Haegemon
      @Haegemon 5 месяцев назад

      CiG builds everything around NPCs because players in MMOs generally aren't trustworthy to keep a Lore based game. A player can't relie on gas stations owned by player orgs, specially orgs made by pirates or grieffers, or ribal orgs. As Jared said, they have to provide alternatives so any player can't find himself in a dead end.

    • @austinite3034
      @austinite3034 5 месяцев назад

      First off, I didn't say that there shouldn't be NPC options for basic needs. What I am saying is that players should be able to engage in providing services as comprehensive as NPC's and, via base building, be able to facilitate it wherever/however they see fit.
      If an org builds an outpost station that provides various services and it's successful, then other orgs might want to take it over. If the owners fail to upkeep the successful station then someone else will step in.

Advancing through the reputation meter usually opened up 2-3 new quests to be able to grind more daily. All in all, it usually required about 1.5-2 months of daily grinding. @yulfine1688 5 месяцев назад

      logging off won't do anything for you here.. that's not how that works, you can bed log or quit and that quitting will put you in the normal station not where you were at, secondly yes orgs will always be able to control things, that's just reality there is no real way to deter that without ruining things for orgs.

      with time we will see what impact military and stealth components being locked in there have. If we dont get a secondary market for them at some point i could see orgs monopolizing them and having a competitive edge verses every other player.

    Man it would be cool if you had a ship like a Starfarer that was treated like DoorDash.. The Starfarer pilot could set their radius and start receiving refuel requests from players in that radius.. Once accepted, it gives the player an ETA of arrival. Imagine that player requesting service is just setting up a trap to kill the Starfarer.. The Starfarer could then give that player a 1 star review with a comment like *requested service, individual ambushed me upon arrival (which then alerts future players that accepting a beacon for help from that player might not be wise)..

    What if one of those asteroid bases is the gas station he doesn’t work unless someone’s completed the contested zone they’ve claimed it. They run it. It’s player done. It doesn’t work unless someone’s progress to it. That would still fit within the model of what Jared just said and what salty Mike said. So yeah maybe NPC’s move in. They set up the fueling point gray. Another group comes in a tax. It claims it takes it over NPC is all flea during the fighting. It takes time for it to reset and become the gas station again.
    I don’t know if this is an idea they’re having, but it would still fit within the bill of a crafted experience a contested zone player driven solution.

    The problem is that the developers simply don't play the game. They are so far away from the game reality in the PU. They imagine something in theory that is completely different in reality. What fits abolsut are the memes design vs. user experience.

    Unpopular opinion, but I don't think they should show how much fuel you're going to use when you plot a quantum jump course.
    Google doesn't tell me how much I'm going to use when I go somewhere far away using GPS, also if that causes more people to run out of fuel that gives people who want to run fuel gameplay, and forces players to plan their routes better. Especially in a larger system such as pyro.

    As much as the rare and cool components will be and how much it will add to the game I also think it is too early to add in.
    Mostly because they are still really struggling to balance ship performance and combat and this will just add a whole other level of complexity which they honestly haven't demonstrated they are capable of dealing with yet.

      @@yulfine1688 the complexity is more variables the ship team need to balance around.
      It's not just the "stock" Loadout but they will also be balancing ships depending on different components.
      That is the real reason why all components are flat now, it makes their job so much easier when it's really just the core ship stats they have to tweek

    ah the zones have keycards and puzzles yip its bunkers. if they dont have a way to force players out tho people will just find the exit and dump loot out the back door until they cant anymore. Forcing people to rotate bunkers to unlock the good stuff tho could be decent.

    Ik Mike's mad about the starfarer but realistically having huge swathes of the game space be dependent on players having and flying starfarers was always a non-starter, even without the various issues of defending those starfarers from pirates, etc. It was a nice idea but it wasn't going to survive contact with reality. They are figuring it out; they're figuring out that they actually need to deal with the reality of building a game rather than the fantasy of players organically creating a perfectly balanced and operational ecosystem. It sucks for the people who wanna do the starfarer fantasy (assuming they don't ever make a niche for that) but there just aren't enough of those people to sustain the game. "People who bought the worst $300 ship in the game" can't be a load-bearing pillar of the game's essential infrastructure.

    seems with fueling they mentioned 5 stations potentially, in videos we see some landing zones to get fuel but in a hostile pvp area these are all locations that give your position away. There is likely still a reason to have personal refueling capabilities even if they are trying to make things easier for people.
