I've lived with back pain since my 20s when I slipped and fell in my bathtub. Now in my 50s. Can't count how many times my back has gone out from lifting something heavy to something as simple as sitting in my chair. I have been laid up in bed for weeks unable to move, to having to use canes to walk. I found this channel after my most recent back pain. That was 3 weeks ago. I have found the information in these videos extremely helpful in getting my back back up and better. Thank you Bob & Brad.

This just happened to me. I was cleaning the kitchen and my back went out. I had to lay over the island, and then hunch up the stairs to lay down to ice it. Needless to say, That is why I am here now.

I have a similar job where I'm sitting all the time. We need to get up and walk. I feel much better when I'm walking so I make sure to walk even if it's just to the bathroom every hour. If I don't do this, my back freezes up and will go out. I have arthritis. Hopefully your job allows you to do this. Humans weren't meant to be sitting or stuck in one position for long periods of time. It's too bad modern life doesn't let us move the way were supposed to be!

You may have sciatica or inflammation. Both of which can be helped by anti-inflammatory meds. But I'm not a doctor. Just a patient with experience. If it persists and you're in pain, you should see a doctor and a physical therapist.

I’ve been straining/spraining (don’t know the difference) my low back for 15+ years. I probably have “crippled” myself about 7-8 times, I’m only 43. My most recent and worst one was last week where I had to use a cane to get to the car for a ride to urgent care for meds. Now I’ve always heard to ice it but I’ve always heated mine because it felt so tight. Heat always loosens me up and I can eventually stretch and crack my back. I tried ice one time and it got so tight I couldn’t move at all and was screaming in pain. I will never ice it again. I’ve never been stuck in bed more than 3 days until this last one which was 4 days. Now, I’m not 100% but I’m moving fine after 5 days. I always get prescribed muscle relaxers, naproxen and Tramadol. I only take the relaxers and Tramadol for 3 days usually.

So I have been dealing with a herniated disc and sciatica since Nov 2021. At its peak, it was the worst on thanksgiving. Since then I’d been improving. However, two days ago, I sneezed so hard my back went out and now I’m starting from 0. It’s so hard to endure. The pain makes me want to not be alive anymore.

If you guys still have your backs go out, what hope is there? : ) Seriously, this concise summary of information on warning signs and pre-emptive things to do is really helpful. I've jotted them down on a card to help improve my back habits. Also, for me now at day five after my worst sudden back strain, it is helpful even just hearing you say that just about everybody has his or her back go out now and then, and recovers. Encouraging. Thanks. Long time fan, first time commenter. Subscribed.

Went walking and my back tightened so much I thought I was not going to make it home. What do you make of that? Also, every time I get up I can't put weight on my left foot right away, feels like it's broken & turned in.This, combined with fibromyalgia is stealing my life away. I do love watching you guys though and do what stuff I can when it doesn't hurt.

I have the same problem sometimes where as walking doesn't help a sore back no matter how slow or paying attention to correct gait. I don't know what the answer is as it could be a combination of things such as tight hips, legs or other muscles in the chain causing or in conjunction with a herniated disc etc. I would quit walking and concentrate on stretches, correct movements and sleeping posture outlined in other vids to get to a point where later walking would be more of a physical maintenance thing.

The motto I live by is “Movement is life!” But since I started a medication for Graves’ disease (hyper thyroid) one of the side effects is weight gain. It’s one thing if someone gains 20 lbs in a year but I’ve gained 55 lbs in less than 6 months and my body just can’t handle it! My endocrinologist says there’s nothing that can be done but I refuse to accept that! I used to love walking, I even worked my way up to jogging, but now just a few steps makes my entire body tighten up, including my lower back. If I can’t exercise I for sure won’t have a chance at losing this weight!! Would you have any ideas on what I can do to release the tightness my lower back and entire body feel?

Sliding off the bed doesn't help me.with my loser back herniated discs.... What i do is ... 1.sit on the edge of the bed and.place my hands around my back with the fingertips of each hand meeting at the center of my waistline (and with my thumbs holding on to the sides of my back). 2. I slide slightly forward until my feet are touching the floor.. and 3. .then I gently but firmly press my fingertips into the small of my back as i prepare to stand and continue to press until I'm in a standing position. I feel no pain getting up that way.

Hi, Im a new fan. I have had back pain into static nerve for 2 years. I was diagnosed with spondylosis l3-s1 osteoarthritis with osteophytes. I went to a PT and she had me push weights lying down on a machine. I am a pro portrait painter, so instead of standing for hours with my arms out, I sat on a chair...was bent over my palette. I now can't walk too well for a few days. Very Painful. I need to paint as its what i do, but I'm in constant pain and numbness goes from piriformis to ankle! what do you recommend??? Should I stay away from the weights? Thx so much!!! You guyzzz are great!!!

Anti inflammatories and ice, then leave things ready for the next day, cause you won't be able to walk, crawling on hands and knees is least painful . Stay in bed for 2 days then start the physio. Start trying too stand and walk on day 3 for 10mins every 2hrs,walk,bed,walk,bed. On day 4 walk around the house for half an hour every 2 hrs then bed, avoid sitting. Day5 you should be walking without much discomfort, but it will take a another 7 to 10 days for the strength and stability to build in your back. This works for me, I've torn the same little muscle 8 times over 25yrs mostly on a half bent over rotational movement.

Likely. Ive had that happen to me multiple times. Sometimes if I lay flat in my back or on my stomach it'll crack and get I instant relief during a spasm. Its likely that you had some nerve impingement and the crack adjusted the vertebrae away from the nerve.

when I throw my middle back out. why is it I can't bend down? I have to stay straight or probably perfect posture. i cant lean or curve my back forward while its out. it can be excruciating pain and is intense for a day or so. takes about a weeek or 2 to finally heal. I know I have poor posture and I'm sure it does ad to my issue. but why wouldn't I be able to bend forward or down towards the floor?

My back gave out and a few days before I started noticing hip pain. Is there anything I could have done to avoid this. I was getting out of the shower and bent slightly and pop my back gave out. Shoukd I have Iced it or rested a few days before when the issue appeared to be on its way? Any suggestions to prevent it in the future when there are some signs before it happens.

I fell on the ice (again) recently. Neither the Xray or CT scan showed anything, but now it is uncomfortable to sit in a chair. Up till this time, standing was the problem & sitting down made the pain go away. Now, the only comfortable position is horizontal - on my back or either side. To make matters worse, shifting from my side to my back and vice versa is even more painful than sitting or standing. What should I ask my GP to look at in trying to figure out what's wrong & most importantly, how to fix it.

Lower back really far down has been tight and achey and sensitive for months. I am a stocker at work, and I am constantly hunched over carts unloading boxes onto the salesfloor. I leaned over the couch to pick up my cat, and I acknowledge I was probably leaning over unnaturally to get her, and something felt like it just gave way in my back, and I instantly fell on the floor with the cat still in my arms. It took over an hour for my boyfriend and me to get myself downstairs and to my bed. Now it feels like my torso weighs 5 million lbs. And my hips cannot take the weight of my own body. I dont know if I should go to the doctor or not.
