True...there's also several companies that make custom covers for Ikea sofas (usually better quality fabrics!) and one that I heard of that makes legs for their furniture.

I don't feel safe going in to stores "just because" with this freakin' pandemic still going on. While Mama & I are both vaccinated, there seem to be a lot of covidiots here in the Lone Star State, who just refuse to take basic precautions at the very least, so the rest of us suffer as well. OK, rant over. Seriously, even if the videos drive me crazy, I love going on these virtual tours, especially with guides like you, Norrine! I don't remember the Ikea closest to us having an As-is section when Mama & I went last, but we may have just passed it without realizing. I am soooooo ready to be able to go shopping again! Love the As-is section! When we are shopping for something specific we always check there first. Typically we find what we are looking for exactly or a great substitute! Not having to assemble it is a bargain in itself!

I love the billy bookcases that are deeper then the normal ones. I bought one with doors that are wood at the bottom so I can store anything in them and use the top shelves for display.

That's what I used to have too..... I didn't see any of those. :( I ended up getting custom covers and they were great!!! comfort-works.com/en/ I did choose some that were on sale, think it was $400 for my couch and 2 chaise lounges I had. Felt expensive at the time, but so much cheaper than new furniture!!!!!
I'm interested in a custom shelf with storage underneath. I have a Micke large desk in white and wanted to make it have more surface area to work with. My dining area is my office/craft room. I made some as is items into a custom table already lol 😆
When I was staging our house to sell, I shopped online at IKEA first. Having the article number makes it easy to find the right item in store (i bought lots of plastic plants!), and I also can shop the prices easily (the similar plants were double the price at Target!) If the plants are in plain containers, I use the white plant vases to drop the plant into. Those are the container/cups a number of us use for pencils, etc. I see one on a shelf behind you! Watch the sizes of the Alex drawers. The depth and width are unusual. I found that the GRÅSIDAN set is wonderfully sized for the Alex drawers-the largest is 11x11. And for only $9.99 they are a steal! I also found great lap blankets (to "toss" at the end of the bed), a nice tray and espresso-sized cup sets for the end of the bed. All at unbelievable prices! Isn't it nice that you can buy only the number of dishware and flatware that you need? No buying extras because the set only comes in one quantity. Think of those tealight holders with M&Ms or Holiday candy in them!
Nice store tour. I do visit my store here in Atlanta….. We do not have a big section of reduced and discontinued items like yours…… I always look at the items not for what they are using or sold for……but how they could be hosed in my space. As always very informative and lots of ideas you give . 🥰
I love my antique book case with glass doors. Don’t have an IKEA in my town. Like their pieces though. I ordered children’s beds from them. Saved a lot space in a small bedroom. The cost of shipping was quite high. Thanks for store tour 🛏🪑🛋

I found a twin bed over the be rack in Kohls it was 20$ I don't remember the original price. It had 2 shelves and when I looked at it I could see that it would fit right over my drafting / art table it was great to store artist canvas and I added hooks all around the lower shelf so I could hang my paint tubes on. For me it was the find of a lifetime. Ive given to my Granddaughter now because I have another system ,I am building in my studio. Slowly but surly I will get it all done. I love Ikea but alas there is only one in the state of Minnesota and it is 175 miles away.
I have had a "hankern" to go to Ikea for a while now. The closest one is about four hours a way...now I think that's probably a good thing. I have not seen the As Is department before. Yes it is a very good thing.
If using the metal bookcases outdoors where the temp drops below freezing be sure to bring them inside for the winter, unless they are specifically guaranteed for outdoor winter use. I’ve had some metal furniture (not from IKEA) that expanded and contacted so much from the changing temps that the paint cracked and moisture got under the cracked paint causing it to rust underneath and flake iff. It definitely depends on where you live and how cold the winters are.

Hi, I bought two, 3 drawers dressers in OfferUp, and placed 1, kallax 8 cubes on top of each dresser. Also got another kallax 8 cubes and placed it sideways, I use it as a top surface. This is a small room, and finding I lock top surface. Thank you for all your suggestions, and T4s

The grotesque ones, such as gnomes and dwarves, indicate fear of aberrant sex. Grain of salt info, but they are creepy.

I really love Ikea. I have a few pieces of Ikea furniture and a lot of home goods, so this isn't Ikea hate... I grew up pretty poor. We moved a lot and had a lot of crappy furniture. In the last few years, I have done a lot of research on wood and building furniture, as I plan to go into the woodworking business. Here's what experience has taught me: Not all Ikea is created equally! Do your research before you buy! Check out reviews online. In particular, make sure you look at reviews from people who have owed the product for at least a few months. Also, look for a change in reviews in long time favorites...has a product that used to get great reviews suddenly started getting mediocre (or bad) ones? It could indicate that a cost cutting measure has changed the design and lessened the quality of the product. When you are in the showroom, do not be kind to the displays. Shake them. Bounce on the couch. Lean back on the back legs of the dining chairs. Do all the stuff your kids do when you aren't around, and worse! And look at the pieces with a very critical eye. Are there cracks in the joints? Has one of the hinges broken off of the doors? Does it wobble? Does it just seem too light? Remember, if the piece can't survive the showroom. it can't survive if you should ever move! Also, check out your other options too. You will be amazed by what you can find on Facebook marketplace, thrift stores and yard sales. Sometimes, all it takes is some paint and nee hardware to make an old dresser into a stunner again! Just look for real wood pieces and you can't go wrong! Also. don't assume you can't afford custom work. You would be surprised. Last year, we were looking at redoing our kitchen cabinets. We checked out some ready to assume options online, as well as off the shelf options from Lowe's, etc, and the Sektion system from Ikea. And, just because I was curious, I called 3 local cabinet makers for bids. Surprisingly. I got a bid for all birch cabinets, installed by the cabinet maker for $2000 LESS than the other options we had looked at! So, make some calls...it certainly can't hurt!

Yes, I would just use pine boards for the shelves so that they are stronger for the weight of the pots and pans.

I really love Ikea. I have a few pieces of Ikea furniture and a lot of home goods, so this isn't Ikea hate...
I grew up pretty poor. We moved a lot and had a lot of crappy furniture. In the last few years, I have done a lot of research on wood and building furniture, as I plan to go into the woodworking business. Here's what experience has taught me:
Not all Ikea is created equally! Do your research before you buy! Check out reviews online. In particular, make sure you look at reviews from people who have owed the product for at least a few months. Also, look for a change in reviews in long time favorites...has a product that used to get great reviews suddenly started getting mediocre (or bad) ones? It could indicate that a cost cutting measure has changed the design and lessened the quality of the product.
When you are in the showroom, do not be kind to the displays. Shake them. Bounce on the couch. Lean back on the back legs of the dining chairs. Do all the stuff your kids do when you aren't around, and worse! And look at the pieces with a very critical eye. Are there cracks in the joints? Has one of the hinges broken off of the doors? Does it wobble? Does it just seem too light? Remember, if the piece can't survive the showroom. it can't survive if you should ever move!
Also, check out your other options too. You will be amazed by what you can find on Facebook marketplace, thrift stores and yard sales. Sometimes, all it takes is some paint and nee hardware to make an old dresser into a stunner again! Just look for real wood pieces and you can't go wrong!
Also. don't assume you can't afford custom work. You would be surprised. Last year, we were looking at redoing our kitchen cabinets. We checked out some ready to assume options online, as well as off the shelf options from Lowe's, etc, and the Sektion system from Ikea. And, just because I was curious, I called 3 local cabinet makers for bids. Surprisingly. I got a bid for all birch cabinets, installed by the cabinet maker for $2000 LESS than the other options we had looked at! So, make some calls...it certainly can't hurt!
