I picked this camera up a few weeks ago. Worst feature is the low rez 230k screen. Near unusable in bright light. The files when you get them right are very nice. So nice I bought a DP2 Merrill. That camera with the last firmware update is not really slow. Boots up quick and focus speed is decent. The files from this camera blew my mind.
Same journey here. I took a risk on a DP2s, took less than 20 test shots, blew them up on the screen and IMMEDIATELY went on Ebay and bought a DP2 Merrill and later the same week I found a deal on a DP0 Quattro.
Always down for a trade for that x-pro.. kidding! Haha, it's such a fun little camera. I'm taking it out for another video once spring brings out some nice colors to really test this sensor!
Sorry for the late reply! With my sigma cameras, I have to convert the raw files before editing them. I do this with a free software they offer on their website, which allows users to convert their X3F (or whichever raw format the Sigma camera is using) to a .tiff format that Adobe can read. I hope this helps!
I truly appreciate your comment! I haven't tried the sd Quattro but I plan on it once I can find a good deal on one. I've also heard rumors of a full frame foveon sensor in the works. This would be fascinating to test out as well!
@@MattsNotes I love my DP2 Merrill (F2.8 up to ISO 200), file output is much better then the DP1 Merrill (1/3 photos botch on my model, too bad cause the wider angle is very handy for landscape) and I do have a regular DP1 (small, super slow, but beautiful color output, too bad the lens motor tends to die after a few years). If you can score the DP1/DP2 for a very low price, it's fun. Beautiful pictures to be had with some patience and work. But the DP2 Merrill is a dream if you know how to wait for the right light. Quatro series is nice but bulky. Less detail, but faster, higher ISOs ... Atm I'm saving up for the SD , for other stuff I use a Sony RX1R or A7R3 (love the image output) or a Fuji X100F / Canon 5D Classic for street ... For anything nature and landscape the Sigma's are beautiful (can do some street, but not much)... Thank you for your reviews ^^
Great to hear and thanks for the input! I do have the sd1 and it's very fun to shoot with, although tricky at first when first using it or when handing it to another for use. The colors on the camera are unbelievably rich and incomparable to any other DSLR. I plan on finishing a vid on that camera by early next week. Thanks for viewing!
Hahaha thanks for the comment! Did you mean overpaying? I agree this camera can be very expensive for what it is, in fact it was a fourth of the price before Mattias Burling (great youtuber too) made a video on one of these old sigma cameras a few years back. I used to see them for under a hundred bucks then they skyrocketed again lol
Added a DP2 to my DP3M and man, the images are as expected so with all the quirks, image quality makes it a pleasure to own this camera.
An addicting camera lineup for sure!

@@MattsNotes im waiting!!
@@romvnko I made a sigma sd1 video a couple weeks back! I have another foveon video coming in the next few weeks with another sigma too c:
Really want to try this camera .... sounds like a “digital film camera”

Hello do u need Sigma’s own program to edit the image? Such as RAW files or i can just do them with adoba programs?

Glad I stumbled upon your channel. Great review style. Maybe you've already been asked this, but I'd like to see your take on the SD Quattro.

Nice video Matt!
I thought the photos you took were beautiful 👌
Keep up the great work 👍
Stay safe ✌
Thanks friend, you as well!
You get this camera for two reasons: color rendition from foveon sensor and portability.
beautiful photos
Thanks friend!
Have dp 2
Great camera indeed!
Very good review
Thanks for your appreciation!
It's merril ?
This one isn't the merrill, however I do have two merrill bodies and I'll do a video on them very soon here! Thanks for watching

Why are people overpsying for this lousy camera?
