    I've got a glass thermometer. I knew how to read it off, no problem. What I can't do is to persuade it not to be set to maximum.

      In reference to the glass thermometer shown in this video, each mark on the Celsius scale represents a value of 0.1 degrees. For example, look at the scale on the bottom of the thermometer. The marks after the 35 represent the values of 35.1, 35.2, 35.3, 35.4, 35.5 (long line in between 35 and 36), and so on. I hope this helps.
