    I bought this board in 166cm the first year it dropped and also ride it at Mount Bachelor. It’s honestly a perfect Bachelor board for deep days or if you wanna have a retro ride experience on a spring groomer day. But I’d honestly contend that you have to wax this board after every single use, the edges lose their fast so fast if you ride it hard….. Mervin bases man 😂😂😂

    Great review man!! Basically have it narrowed down to this or the storm wolf. I’m 5’10 and 170 and thinking the 161 retro ripper may be a little big on me. So maybe the 158 storm wolf. Im a surfer and looking for a fast carver that works in grooms or powder. Any chance you going to make a battle of the surf snowboard video?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  Год назад

      Thanks. What is your boot size? Most important when sizing a board so hard to say. I did recently ride the 158 and it matches up more with the 161 RR. Those are two very different rides. Check our review on the Storm Wolf. It is a stiffer much less turny/more straight line friendly ride vs the super turny circle carvy style of the RR. So comes down to riding style.

      @@thegoodridesnow thanks for the quick response. I’m a size 10 boot. And I guess it’s hard to answer that question cause at low speeds I like to carve and slash but I also like to be able to hold rail and not have it wash out on me at speed.

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  Год назад

      Ok size 10's will work with both the 158 SW and 161 RR. Based on the info given it would be a safer call to go with the Retro but there are other options like the Weston Japow and many others that might better match what you want as both of these boards are at opposite ends of the riding spectrum. Would you recommend sizing up a little bit for this board? I generally ride 158 to 161 boards. I recently purchased the T Rice Pro as a 161 and it worked perfectly for me. Since you generally ride your boards a little shorter than the RR, I was wondering if I also should sizing up the RR to a 166 (never had a board like this before).
    I'm 6'2, mostly between 175 and 190lbs and size 9,5 boots.

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  Год назад +1

      If you like the T.Rice Pro 161 pointy and it isn't hard to turn then the 166 RR will work for you. If you found the TRPro difficult to turn go 161 RR.

    Hi am 5’11 & 230 pound size 10 boots do you recommend the 161

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  Месяц назад

      Hard to say knowing so little about you. It depends on how quick you want your board to turn and what you are used to now. I thought the 161 turned pretty fast for 5'10", 185-190lbs and 9 boots. If I was your specs I would go 166. I would only go 161 if you prefer something that feels small/quick and very easy to control at the loss of float/speed and carving power. Yes it will be very similar to the 161 Retro Ripper. They have a lot of overlap. The Dart has a faster base and better float. The Retro Ripper has more camber/pop/carving power. If you really want to build a swallow tail quiver this could work.

    • @awiegwa
      @awiegwa Год назад

      @@thegoodridesnow LOL...I actually have the start of a swallowtail quiver. Before my quiver was mainly pow boards and planks...then it evolved to shapes and now there are a bunch of swallowtails. I have a fun quiver with various shapes.

    Im looking at this board but I was wondering if my feet are too big for harder carving on it. Im 5'8 and 145lbs so I was thinking 156 would be good but Im a size 10 boot. should I size up to make sure I dont toe/heel drag or do you think 156 would be good?

    Difference Between this and the Endeavor Archetype?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  6 месяцев назад

      Very different! Endeavor is not that set back and doesn't ride as much near the tail as the Retro. It also has a little early rise. The Retro has a slower base but more pop from all that full on camber.
