This might be the most overlooked turntable on the market. A great price, all the essential features of a great table yet people seem to either go too cheap or too expensive.
Is this the best of the budget friendly record players and the cheapest of our higher quality, entry to mid level tables? I think it could be. In this Video I'll compare the turntable I'm currently using at home to some potentially more popular tables that consumers seem to be going for instead.
Let us know if you think this table might suit you.
I have a Dual 1019 Turntable (German) from 1965 and it still works; mechanical all the way and built solid with fantastic sound with a pitch control and of course it plays 33 1/3, 45 and 78's.. $129 cost in 1965 and today it is worth it's weight in gold, All the ones I have looked at lately from all the popular brands not even touch this turntable. I am having it cleaned and serviced as I am typing this comment. As you can tell I am back in an era that everything was just well built. All of them are plastic now. NOTE: This unit plays and stacks 45's (12 at a time and albums 6 at a time, I know you just don't stack 33 1/3 records; I have 65 year old records I still play and they were all stacked. PS my unit almost looks like the day it was built even the dust cover no scratches.
Just ordered the LPW40WN because of this video - if you were closer to the Gong, I would have ordered from you guys as well. Was looking at dropping close to $1300 on the Debut Carbon Evo but you definitely changed my mind. I wouldn't class myself as an obsessive audiophile but I appreciate quality. Cheers for making these videos.
That shaking up of all the need vs want and price vs quality and features I will want vs features I'll end up not needing is exactly what lead me to the LPW40WN as well. I did so much research before buying and everything else was either more expensive than I wanted with features I wouldn't need or was cheaper but less quality or about the same as this but was missing features I did want etc. I feel like the LPW40WN really is kind of the best bang for the buck on the market by offering quality where necessary and cutting cost where it wasn't needed anyway.
I've been spinning mine for about a year now and absolutely love this thing.
Please review the LP3XBT. Would love to see what you think about it after spending a little time. Also would love to know if you could upgrade the phono cables to get a better sound.
the reason I have an automatic turntable is late night when I'm listening to vinyl I sometimes fall asleep and it's nice to know it will go back safe and turn off other than that I would use my manual turnatble.
These beginner videos are great,
do a speaker one please!
2M Red better than the AT-VM95E?!
I don't think so!
The 2M Red sounds awfully sharp, while the VM95E punches way above its weight...
Much better to upgrade to the ml stylus when funds allow, money and about ten seconds of time well spent !
@@keithbrowes1974 Yes exactly!
I'm getting a Roksan Attessa turntables, it's on par with a Rega planar 3 performance wise, but I've ordered it at a price of £399, it's on offer, that's about $500, that's way less than the equivalent competition, the Rega planar 3 cost £1400 that's around $1800, so it's a clear winner as far as I'm concerned !
Personally I’ve got the lp3xbt and so far it’s a great turntable for the price and paired with an external amp and some decent bookshelf speakers it sounds awesome.
Awesome video!!! I wanted to ask for a whole set up video if you have time x
I might buy myself the AT-LP60X and I don’t really know what else I need to it. I only know I would need speakers but that’s about it.
I had this turntable and it's realy good
Here in Japan there is also the AT-LPW50BT....I am between AT or TEAC (TN-4D-SE) at the moment.
Im in japan too and looking for a turntable. I was surprised at the lack of options. The atlpw50bt is discontinued on the japanese audio technica website. I dont understand the lack of support here. It seems like the regas are available here now at least.
Randomly came across this video and I'm just struck with your accent, which is a very interesting muddle indeed. I'd say you're a Scot living in the States, but there's a real Northern Irish twang in there as well. Hard to tell!
And to add to the muddle Bendigo isnt in any of those places.
Pretty sure he lives in Australia as he said the cost of something in Aussie dollars also Bendigo bank is an ad I see pretty often so I would assume that there’s a Bendigo over here.
I bought a Victrola Eastwood and the only problem I have is that it doesn't have tonal arm weight adjustment and a lot of the albums I like are bass heavy.
DO NOT buy the 2M red, upgrade the stylus to the EN or ML level and it will demolish the Ortofon, and you will not even need to remove the cartridge to do this.
I'm with you. I got an OM Red and was very disappointed. It may be a matter of personal preference, but I like the Audio Technica lineup better than most other brands dollar for dollar. Yes I'm sure I'd prefer a $500 Ortofon to a $60 Audio Technica model, but the OM Red is my least favorite cartridge of the half dozen I've tried.
Really nice talk on the LPW40. You mentioned briefly the LPW50, what are your thoughts on it? It has adjustable feet which may help on getting it set up properly.
Any insight on the difference between this and the lpw50? Not really seeing much online about the 50 at all It's currently on sale at a certain store for a little cheaper than the lpw40 at $560aud
Great 👍 review and information ! Do you have any information on the Teac 180 bt turntable I can't find too much info on utube ?
Just curious if you are familiar with the Audio Technica LP5X. I was looking at the LPW40WN as well and wondered if you had to pick one or the other what it would be? Major difference in sound quality?
Hey Jeff, I'm not super familiar with the 5X as they don't sell it here in Australia. I know it uses the same cartridge as the W40 though. Differences are the LP5X is direct drive, has a 78RPM speed, and is a (dampened) plastic plinth. Due to the plastic plinth on the 5X i'd probably lean towards the LPW40
Hey , I have a Teac GF-350 .
It’s old and has been out of use for 10 -15 years .
It’s in good good condition but I don’t have no vinyls .
Can someone tell me about how good or bad it is compared to what we have in the market ?
I would like to start buying vinyls but i don’t think I’ll find my kind of music in india .
Is it worth keeping ?
Are all mid-priced ($200 - $500) Audio-Technica cartridges compatible with the LPW40WN if I want to upgrade later? I'm looking to upgrade to their Audio-Technica VM540ML/H Turntable Headshell/Cartridge Combo, but just want to make sure the swap is compatible. I've looked in vain for info on the net but I can't seem to find this basic answer, even on their web site. They just list their cartridges, not what turntables they're compatible with.
now if I new about the lp w -40 I would of gotten it instead of the pro-ject debut 3 they are both solid wood but the debut is more expensive and they both are manual TT's and the cart would be easier to change and there are no reviews of that TT thats why I may have not seen it at all JRo
What speakers would you recommend to go with the lpw40?
What about the 120XUSB compared to the LPW40WN
Hi, nice video, keep on. I would realy like to see an review on the AT-LP3XBT, because Iam interested in buying one and would like to hear your opinion an the truntable. You got my "like", "subscribe" and a comment^^ ;) Greetings from Germany
Will see what I can do ;)
I want my first Vinyl player to pair with Dynaudio Audience 50s and Primare i22 amp which has really good DAC, I was liking the LP60 on your previous video but do not like colour and automatic driven. What is my next option? Budget is $400 and looking for something to hold on to for as long as possible, I would love this LPW40WN and could spend over budget unless their is better for the price.
No links to all of those
Nooooo I don't want to get a Manual, want an Automatic, found a good one from Lenco in Bamboo wood, plus I'm not in a position to buy one now as I'm abroad.
That at model
Has good engineering
For it's price
Have you got a Problem with Automatic Turntables?
i'm probably getting a LP60X, what are good speakers to pair with it?
Hi Rodi! Great choice. We’ve been packaging them in the store with the Edifier 1280db bookshelf speakers. Small, affordable but surprisingly excellent.
@@Bendigorecords thanks man! excited to get started on my vinyl journey
@@Keesdeneef nice! It’s a lot of fun :)
@@Bendigorecords hello! thanks so much for transparent and easy beginner information. would an external amp be recommended by you as well for this setup? moving in to an apartment alone so finally want to get out the suitcase stage haha! cheers
@@johnvega2974 Glad you enjoyed and found it useful! An external amp an passive speakers definitly gives you more choice of some great quality components though there are some pretty good powered speakers that do a great job if you are limited on space/budget. Amp + Speakers I'd have a look at something like the Rotel A10 and some Encel Gelati's or something else with at least 5 inch drivers if going for the combo.
why not show the actual turn table while talking about it?
if not, why not! hey?
i am not spending 700 dollars on that
Entry Level is not really something that costs around 300 EUR. LMFAO
I do wish you people would just get to the point!
Buy vintage
Even though Vintage turntables do not have the proper replacement parts? I’m calling BS on the vintage crap. (Though not as bad as those who shame those who can only afford/only have room for the suitcase players. I will go verbally postal on this!)

Nowadays there are 3D printers and the electronics are no problem at all.
I own Lenco L80, 3x Thorens, Braun, B&O, Philips, Fisher and 2 modern DJ turntables, modern Thorens and modern Dual.
Sometimes you have to put in a little more effort, but all parts can be obtained.
Never had a problem getting parts.
