Okay, quite interesting that there appears to be no counterweight or anti-skate function available on this model. You'd think that if one were going to swap out the stock conical for something like a Shibata or Micro line, that they would be able to adjust the tracking force and anti-skate accordingly (to ensure no damage is done), like on most TT's. To be fair, now that it occurs to me, I get that the anti-skate might already be built into the arm, much like U-Turn's Orbit models. But that still leaves the question of why it lacks adjustable counterweight. Am I missing something here? Whatever the case, you might say I'm kinda on the fence about this one until I find out more details than the video shared.

There’s definitely differences for better or worse depending on the album. Bluetooth is always gonna be worse than a direct connection, but it’s convenient. Vinyl gives you something tangible that streaming cannot. This is probably the perfect table for your needs

Hey quick question I am a pretty experienced buyer of turntables and such but I can only find these entry level videos I want one that will last longer than my last one did since it was so cheap (only lasted 6 months before it just stopped working took it to shops and they told me it was a 200 dollar repair minimum) I want a turntable at around 600 dollars but and quality speakers that won’t break so soon just if you see this that would be great to get some help
mine is currently stuck in a loop of trying to start a record. the needle moves over the record goes down but immediately shoots back up and goes back to starting position and it repeats this till i press stop
The Only thing I would have Changed would be to make the Tone are available with the changeable Head Shell , yes 25 bucks more but a better Cart All Around is what I'm looking for !
Got mine delivered and set up today, paired with the Edifier R1280Ts under Reddit’s direction. I noticed that after being played, the vinyls had a different look to them. Almost as if the groves weren’t there before. According to a quick google, the stylus could be damaging them and said to swap the needle. If the “wear” I’m seeing is normal, should I still upgrade the stylus? I really only got into vinyl because I bought a few(10+) limited edition ones, I’d very much like to keep them in tiptop shape.
Why do we love vintage? Because it never goes out of style and stereo will never be obsolete. It seems a great way for people to play their vinyl without having to worry about adjustments and settings and all the other mechanics of most turntables. And their easy stylus upgrade path seems great. But I worry not being able to replace the cartridge makes it a throw away item when as with so many cartridges and styluses becomes unavailable in 5-10 years.
😅Black silver! I think that with bronze colour is a little kits 😊* I am waiting more about sounding with rca that is more important. In my opinion the sound is great for the price.Only I found o problem: when there is a grain of dust skip or stop to play the song. I have a many years experience in hi fi and don't remember to happens so often! But I repeat that the sound is great! ❤😊
Amazing review. I am not new to vinyl; just had a twenty year pause. I have a lot of old records and I want something that we can put on the bookshelf and just chill out with. I only have 13 inches of depth so this will fit and I will get the speakers as well. One question. Can you link up a blue tooth television to these speakers as well? I want some streamlining.
Looking at replacing my AT-LPGO-BT. Would this be considered a big upgrade or should i look at a different tier? Trying to find something better between 250 - 400.
@LennyFlorentine awesome man!! Trying to get something that my klipsch reference speakers would go good with. Your awesome brother! I watch your travels as well and appreciate what you do!
Just ordered this on your and others recommendation I may want a receiver soon mostly cause I still like the radio and want to build a little rack system over time. Child of the 70s and 80s :) I am not an audiophile and avoiding that rabbit hole personally:) Do you have a recommendation for a receiver? And thanks !
Have exactly the same question. It seems that LP3XBT is a bit better, can change the headshell/cartridge also and has adjustable counterweight/anti skid. Also the price is not that higher, looking in Google search, you can buy it for just around 20 EUR more. But how important are the extra features, I am not sure. Would be nice to have side by side comparison with details explained.
It looks like a winner and I can't wait to get my hands on one. Thank you for the great video, I have a quick couple of questions if I may. Why doesn't audio technical include a USB drive slot for recording vinyl on the fly without hooking it up to a computer? And why don't they make anything for the fans of portable players? My dream portable would play three speeds I have interchangeable stylus ability like this one and have a USB slot for onboard recording without the need to hook it up to a computer a lot of us final collectors like to record our vinyl and listen to them on the go on our computers or car systems etc. without having to depend on cloud. I hope they make some thing for us in the near future
Odd that they didn’t include counterweight. The tone arm end looks like there is room for it. Maybe the automatic function doesn’t work with the weight. 🤷♂️ Looks nice though.
Since the headshell is integrated and the stylus inserts all weigh the same, you don't really need an adjustable counterweight, which is generally used to compensate for a range of different cartridge bodies.
My LP70XBT has problems! When I push the START button the turntable spins but the Tonearm DOESN'T Move. I have to push the STOP Button then it lifts and moves to the record. ALSO!!!!!! when it gets to the last track (on ALL Albums) it stops moving at the SAME point in the last track and bumps over and over in the same spot. I have to manually lift the arm OR push stop. What's going on? HELP!!!
@@LennyFlorentine Thanks so much Lenny for getting back! Seriously appreciate it. That is the direction I am leaning. Hard to get the girlie white one :) but I’ll live with the bronze if need be. Just pulled the trigger. Bought the bronze one and made sure I used your affiliate link. I recently bought a Audio-Technica AT-LP60X during prime day and it was a great price that day but perhaps to my good fortune it isn’t working so I must return it and I decided it was worth a bit more to get one with a removable cartridge. Yeah... I'm also researching for a first turntable for my son... and I swear, sometimes it seems like people make it difficult on purpose to get into vinyl records if you haven't spent a lot of cash on equipment... I was 5 years old when I learned how to use my grandmas turntable (an old radio/turntable combo, tube based... don't remember what year it was built...). That thing had no tracking force adjustment, no antiskating adjustment... I have zero idea what cartridge it used (but it was a detachable one... because of course I had to try and take it out). And man I had a blast with it. The turntable was a tool, having fun and enjoying the music/stories was the purpose... not the tool itself. If you take care of the records, you're good to go. I sometimes think the community around a certain topic forgets what the primary goal is: to listen and enjoy the music, in your favorite format...
how does the anti-skating works in the turntable you´re showing , i used to buy boxes covers , arms and stylus from AT in the 70´s they were the best brand for turntable parts ,the best in the world at the time as said by many not only me, before AT i used to buy SME but it was not so good and the geometry to install the arm on a turntable was way to complicated to buy those strange SME arms without any sense, i guess most of the SME users don´t even know that there is a perffect spot for a arm to be installed they only install them on the hole it came with the original arm
Why no any Audio-Technica turntable offers AptX HD support. All my Bluetooth speakers and headphones have Aptx HD. What is the problem to have at least one model supporting that codec?
Why only the entry level turntable has to have fully automatic mode, this is non sense. In the past, this was a privilege of the the high level and pro turntables. Also track recognition, repeat, random and shuffle playing. In present days this can be made much easier and cheaper. Also, remote control :)
Guys, I really wish you would have spent a little more time on that stylus display with some better video on how the stylus fits into the groove. The camera was moving a lot, had troubles focusing on the subject... Or, maybe do a video about that. I mean, it's a good selling point for the LP70X, some more info would be welcomed. And if you already have a video about, or Audio tehnica has on their channel... than, my bad, I should have googled it first...
I just bought the white version 'cause that's how I roll 😋 It's a very nice design, it looks like a well polished deck with that lovely VM95 cartridge. I like the conical "C" stylus, but it;s so nice to get my paws on any of the upgrade stylus' that make this a VERY versatile deck. It's really not much different from the older LP60 otherwise. I see no reason to upgrade if said LP60 is working fine for you, but if you're just starting off, this is easily the better choice. Nice review, I like insider info 😉

i think that a biginners turntable should be good as a young person if not happy with the sound will buy only cds for life, i myself started with a late 60´s pioneer and it was great made me try to find even better what is sad to me is that the late 60´s pioneer is still very good in sound with original cartridge this compared with turntables around 1.000€ ,plus the cartridge which the less expensive i saw with already some quality is a Grado prestige III Gold , now that they cost 200€ less than when they came out, it reads all sounds in a record , see it´s specifications
Bought it yesterday, sent it back to the vendor today, it couldn't play 7inch records correctly (12 inch records completely fine), while using automatic function, tonearm gets on the very edge of the record and then slips down on the slipmat. Anyone tried 7 inches with this turntable and experienced similar problems? Hope it was only one defective unit.
weird you claim "but for a lot of people this is going to make a huge difference not only for looks and sound quality but to take care of your records to because a lot of what you guys are buying out there as your first turntable is probably killing your records" but no mention of what the tracking force weight is.🤨
I always used to bang on about why so many people who reviewed entry level turntables never seemed to offer the Rega Planar 1 or 2. It wasn't until I realised that they're stupid expensive in the US because of import silliness. It's such a shame that you don't get them easily in the US as they would blow almost everything out of the water. And the beauty of them is they're so upgradeable as they're the same platform across the models. I bought one many years ago and added bits. It's something like a Planar 5 now.

That's great, but Bluetooth defeats the purpose to play LPs, which is higher sound quality! Bluetooth is pretty compressed! But that's just me, everybody different!😊
I’d say Bluetooth for me is more of a situational fix as I don’t use it unless I need to wear headphones or move the turntable away from the system. It also adds flexibility for teens that may wanna play their vinyl on the floor

Great video! What are the main differences between the Model 70 and the Model 60 (beyond aesthetic ones)?
With the 70 you can upgrade the stylus and it’s a huge build quality difference
mine is currently stuck in a loop of trying to start a record. the needle moves over the record goes down but immediately shoots back up and goes back to starting position and it repeats this till i press stop
How does this compare to something like the Fluance RT82 or RT83?
😅Black silver! I think that with bronze colour is a little kits 😊* I am waiting more about sounding with rca that is more important. In my opinion the sound is great for the price.Only I found o problem: when there is a grain of dust skip or stop to play the song. I have a many years experience in hi fi and don't remember to happens so often! But I repeat that the sound is great! ❤😊
Do you have to buy speakers separately? No built in speakers?
Amazing review. I am not new to vinyl; just had a twenty year pause. I have a lot of old records and I want something that we can put on the bookshelf and just chill out with. I only have 13 inches of depth so this will fit and I will get the speakers as well. One question. Can you link up a blue tooth television to these speakers as well? I want some streamlining.
Yes, and you could even run the turntable bt to the tv if you so desired
@@LennyFlorentine Awesome. Thanks for the info and quick response. Ordered!!!
Looking at replacing my AT-LPGO-BT. Would this be considered a big upgrade or should i look at a different tier? Trying to find something better between 250 - 400.
If you are replacing a 60bt this is 100% the one to get!
@LennyFlorentine awesome man!! Trying to get something that my klipsch reference speakers would go good with. Your awesome brother! I watch your travels as well and appreciate what you do!
I hope he sells a ton of them. Records more records 😊. Very nice product.
Just ordered this on your and others recommendation
I may want a receiver soon mostly cause I still like the radio and want to build a little rack system over time. Child of the 70s and 80s :)
I am not an audiophile and avoiding that rabbit hole personally:)
Do you have a recommendation for a receiver?
And thanks !
Yamaha RN303 is a great value! amzn.to/3BXYaLU
Which turntable is best? The lp70xbt or the lp3xbt?
Have exactly the same question. It seems that LP3XBT is a bit better, can change the headshell/cartridge also and has adjustable counterweight/anti skid. Also the price is not that higher, looking in Google search, you can buy it for just around 20 EUR more. But how important are the extra features, I am not sure. Would be nice to have side by side comparison with details explained.
The 3 has a removable head shell and weight, little larger. The lp70 has a tonearm latch and more aesthetics.
I believe the lp120 and maybe the LP3 have usb off the top of my head and they do make the portable soundburger turntable!
@@LennyFlorentine they do but they will not record vinyl unless you hook them up to a PC or a laptop
This guy is such an Audio-Technica-ass-kiss!!
I like the white one.
How would it compare to something like Monoprice Monolith?
Definitely gonna be a fun one
Odd that they didn’t include counterweight. The tone arm end looks like there is room for it. Maybe the automatic function doesn’t work with the weight. 🤷♂️
Looks nice though.
Since the headshell is integrated and the stylus inserts all weigh the same, you don't really need an adjustable counterweight, which is generally used to compensate for a range of different cartridge bodies.
What about weight to balance the arm so it’s not pushing on your album to hard and skating so it rides nicely on your vinyl?
It’s preset to match the tonearm/cart so it’s not needed
Oh..hmm that’s pretty cool🤘🏻
Maybe the AT rep should have a talk with CAM as he absolutely trashed your tables and the VM95E cart recently.
Trashed ? Does the AT rep have his own RUclips channel ? I'd like to see the video
I like the Lenco 3355 on Bamboo, looks great, may well get it in September
What if you have a 12" 45 rpm or a 7" 33.3?
It plays any 7 or 12" record.
At the top right of the tonearm base, there is a slide-type record size selector.
The white one is definitely jumping out at me. Great price point also. I dont understand the point of BT on a turntable?
Gives you more options for turntable placement around the room and if you want to use headphones.
HELP!!!
By the way with a Costco membership one can get the Denon DP-300F for 299 instead of 429
I’d tell you to do the LP70x, not that the Denon is bad. But I think you’d be happier with the 70.
@@LennyFlorentine Thanks so much Lenny for getting back! Seriously appreciate it. That is the direction I am leaning. Hard to get the girlie white one :) but I’ll live with the bronze if need be. This one seems to have many of the features I like with the fluance with the added automation. Manual may be for the serious but auto return makes me happy:)
Thanks!
Great video! Do you know if the white turntable will be available in Australia?
Great design. Would be 100% better with a normal interchangeable head shell /counterweight.
Do those speakers also come in a non-bluetooth passive version?
They only have the powered for now
I wanna know what the big white speakers were.
Nice starter for my niece perhaps. People crying about tracking force crack me up. I remember what my 70s changer was like.
This would be great, they tuned this thing to work perfectly with those stylus.
Also the automatic function and upgradeable stylus option are very nice touches. 👌
Can anyone suggest me if i should go for the AT-LP70XBT or the Sony PS-LX310BT?
I am in the market for this ..
What happens with non standard LPs like Lazaretto that plays backwards, and with infinity loops?
If the tonearm never goes to the middle it won’t auto lift.
how does the anti-skating works in the turntable you´re showing , i used to buy boxes covers , arms and stylus from AT in the 70´s they were the best brand for turntable parts ,the best in the world at the time as said by many not only me, before AT i used to buy SME but it was not so good and the geometry to install the arm on a turntable was way to complicated to buy those strange SME arms without any sense, i guess most of the SME users don´t even know that there is a perffect spot for a arm to be installed they only install them on the hole it came with the original arm
can this be upgrade from felt to rubber to minimize vibration? I like this feature on the Fluance line but they are not fully automatic.
Yes of course
@@LennyFlorentine Just realized that was a really dumb question:)
Sp3x speakers are out of stock can you recommend something similar?
The Kanto Ora amzn.to/3Afn1tx but they are more expensive
I ended up going with the Klipsch R-51PM with the AT-LP70X
to me it makes no sense buying speakers more expensive than your "record player", but hey if it makes you happy do you.
@@VinylandKicks86 yeah I wouldn’t have paid full price but they were 40% off yesterday. So not much more than the Sp3X.
@@VinylandKicks86 a very controversial concept that I love
Why no any Audio-Technica turntable offers AptX HD support. All my Bluetooth speakers and headphones have Aptx HD. What is the problem to have at least one model supporting that codec?
Why only the entry level turntable has to have fully automatic mode, this is non sense. In the past, this was a privilege of the the high level and pro turntables. Also track recognition, repeat, random and shuffle playing. In present days this can be made much easier and cheaper. Also, remote control :)
Can’t say I disagree with that
It’s between this and the Denon DP-300F. Anyone have an opinion on their preference?
Nice, can you upgrade the cart, or just the stylus?
Cart is built in, stylus only
I bought one and the factory anti-skating wasn’t set properly. It would skip on every record, even brand new ones. I returned it and got the LP3XBT
We filmed a stylus video as well, should see that soon
Will the table work with any blue tooth speakers
Yes
Is this going to hurt my records since there is no counter weight?
Happened to notice, how do they have 2 elliptical styluses in their demonstrator. That seems pretty confusing. Elliptical and better elliptical?
One is nude
@@LennyFlorentine New to vinyl here... can you elaborate a bit on the difference between one elliptical and the other (nude) one?
Can you hear any difference between the AT-LP70X and the AT-LP60X?
Can be huge, big difference in stylus
Don't any of those have a counterweight?
I just bought the white version 'cause that's how I roll 😋
It's a very nice design, it looks like a well polished deck with that lovely VM95 cartridge.
So cool! Be sure to let me know how it is!
Does it have a built in preamp
Yes.
Does it play 7 and 10 inches on automatic mode?
It's got a slider switch you need to manually use right next to the tonearm housing top right. Works for both 7 and 10 inch sizes.
If you sre left alone in one of those chambers alone ..it will drive you mad. Seriously...it will make you go insane...you can hear your heartbrat, the blood in your veins, your lungs breathing...its wild .
I can attest to this!
i think that a biginners turntable should be good as a young person if not happy with the sound will buy only cds for life, i myself started with a late 60´s pioneer and it was great made me try to find even better what is sad to me is that the late 60´s pioneer is still very good in sound with original cartridge this compared with turntables around 1.000€ ,plus the cartridge which the less expensive i saw with already some quality is a Grado prestige III Gold , now that they cost 200€ less than when they came out, it reads all sounds in a record , see it´s specifications
Is the stylus included or extra?
The blue conical is
weird you claim "but for a lot of people this is going to make a huge difference not only for looks and sound quality but to take care of your records to because a lot of what you guys are buying out there as your first turntable is probably killing your records" but no mention of what the tracking force weight is.🤨
Probably in line with cart specs?
@@SnapperX3 i highly doubt tracking force weight is below 3g otherwise it would've been mentioned as a selling point.
@@VinylandKicks86 2.0 grams on the nose. Forever Analog measured it.
@@SnapperX3 forever analog has not reviewed this turntable.if you're not making this up where can i find this video/review?
@@VinylandKicks86 Sorry recordology.
That white one!
Its just as overpriced in EU. I have a rp3 from 84, never use it anymore tho. No suspension, No thanks.
@@Error2username No they aren't the same.
Rp1s are a couple of hundred quid. They're FAR higher in the US and still reap awards from experts.
You might not like them, but please do demonstrate your evidence on why they're worse please. Actual empirical data
Love to hear feedback on various brands, Rega is interesting. I know a lot of people that love them, but I’m not in that camp yet. But it’s not to say I never will be. I also like automatic tables which is probably why I don’t use them often. Thanks for sharing! Appreciate feedback!!
@@LennyFlorentine No problem. Yeah, if you're into automatic then maybe not the best choice. The reason I recommend Rega is they're robust and last and sound great - they have great separation and really good neutral sound.
@@jimsregaturntableshifijukebox Yes that's what I said - they're upgradeable. The point is this video is about entry level and even at the entry level not only is great (it has won awards for decades after all) but because of the upgradeability it makes it a good consideration). I don't know why you brought up such points that I didn't make.
1 Q:Is the Bluetooth version really better?
Are audio Technica turn tables made in Taiwan?
When were you here? Totally missed you lol
Mid August!
Some of these turntables don’t come with speakers which sucks and I know some have Bluetooth but I still like mine to come with speakers……..
Is Audio Technical paying you for the informational??? The turntable looks very nice but what wasn’t mentioned was no way to adjust the tone arm tracking force!! I have found that tables that have a factory set tracking tend to be heavy and ruin grooves on records Nice looking table but no way to adjust the force
Not a paid video, I’ve had a few questions about the tracking force so I will have to find that out. They overtest all their products so I’m sure it’s perfected, not sure if it’s adjustable.
