i was wondering how to get the visor for the helmet
I made a new tutorial on the helmet and an easy way to make the visor. Go have a look ruclips.net/video/GwXjKehCJ5c/видео.html
@@Heroesworkshop thanks
It’s never to late to start working on your Halloween costume
@@TEZAFIM1 the day before halloween
@@trickish-spark3961 depending on how skilled you are you could easily get it done in 10-14 hours. its just about getting the supplies fast/beforehand
Such a good decision going for the desert color scheme. It would've looked badass in black too, but the desert look is so much more memorable. If I saw this suit at a con, I'd remember it more than the all-black counterpart.
Thanks so much. Part of me is glad I made it unique and went for the desert scheme and immortalized it in a video for me to look at forever.
The other part still does want the default one though for myself lol. 😓
I need to make some ODST armor tbh, been wanting to for years.
Everyone needs to make one. They're badass. I said I wouldn't make another one but I think I would eventually in a few years.
I just want to keep one for my personal collection.
Heroes Workshop Are you really living your best life if you haven’t made yourself and ODST suit?
@@DaedalusProps Exactly!
@@Heroesworkshop I wish, but 1, I'm broke, and 2 I'm not great at making cosplay props and I'm to broke to keep on trying and trying
same here man
That solution for closure with velcro plus magnets is simply genius - will use it with my Mandalorian armor build.
I’ve been a lifelong halo fan and this is exactly what I wanted. Thank you so much and don’t stop creating!
That detail is insane, it looks like cgi or something
Thanks! I’m gonna make another one but the default colors. It’ll be offline but I’ll do another suit up video and maybe tutorial on the SMG this time. I really want to make that last time but ran out of time.
I think I’m going to ask my friends if they want to make a ODST uniform but with actual body armor and metal
Sounds cool
@@Heroesworkshop and heavy lol
that would be very heavy lol, as somebody who has worked in russian grounds forces even just wearing plates carrier and helmet gets tiring pretty quick, i cant even begin to fathom how heavy it would be to wear it on arms and legs as well, either way i wish you all the best in your journey comrade:)
I understand that you posted this a year ago but I have always wondered the same thing of if it could be done and how heavy it would be, and would I care how heavy it was lol
ODSTs are badass as fuck, my Spartans in all the games I could I made them into an odst since I’ve got the backstory of he was an odst who dropped into a covenant cruiser by accident and fought through it eventually destroying the ship but loosing his arm and leg in the process from fighting an elite and due to his efforts he was made into a Spartan and given a prosthetic limb and his helmet is the helmet he wore when he was still an ODST just upgraded to work with the mjolnir system
only problem is theyd have to be a sp4 which is basically a mass produced spartan
Wow!! The detail on this is amazing. Great build!
Thank you for appreciating that as much as me.
This is looking so good! I love all the detail you added
Thanks. I’m glad you like it! It took a lot of work but those details were worth it :)
Simply awesome. Think this build was the first one I watched you guys do and I was amazed the entire time. Such amazing work!
Glad you liked it, Rex.
Just bought these templates from you guys for a little quarantine project and I have to say, it can be a little overwhelming initially trying to get everything printed, cut and scaled. Thanks for posting this because it had some really helpful tips!
Glad it can help in someway. I’ll be posting new Pepakura foam tutorials in a few weeks. Look out for those
this is phenomenal
Good job you did way better than I ever could have done! And it just looks amazing 😉
Thanks! I’m sure yours looks cool too!
nice job on the armor too
oh my god this is awesome, Shame i probably wouldn't ever be able to do ANYTHING like this
Looks amazing, job well done! I like the different color lay-out 👍😃👍
Thank you very much!
incredible how one guy did this, great job comrade
Thanks buddy. Stick around and you’re gonna see more of these armors from here on out.
I was so confused with the shoulder piece, i didn't realize you had this video, helped a TON. love the template so far, it's my first time building anything by hand.
Remember to always refer to this Pepakura Foam tutorial. The techniques and concepts can be applied for any foam Pepakura you come across ruclips.net/video/vRrfclFDiS0/видео.html
@@Heroesworkshop definitely will do, thanks for the awesome videos!
Thanks for watching and supporting the channel. Helps me be able to make more content.
Simply Beautiful.💗
Thank you 😎🙏🏻
Very impressive
Been obsessed with good cosplay recently, instant subscribe button from me.
Thank you.
This is definitely eye catching since most media of ODST shows us mainly the all black look, and occasionally small coloring here and there. So seeing something basically the opposite is nice to see
It was nice to try something different.
I could totally see it the game as an alternate skin. So I went for it to bring into reality.
Great job!
Thanks for checking it out!
Wow that look awsome
Thanks!
That was cool
That’s awsome
Great work on this project, Stealth and Spriken! It's evident you put a LOT of heart and soul into it and it came out awesome. The decals were icing on the cake as well as the weathering effects. Is the spray gun way better than rattle cans? I need to invest in one
Yes, spray gun is better because I use acrylics for foam armor but I’d still use rattle can for resin/hard armor type stuff. Just used to it.
Can you make a video doing the chest plate? Mine looks like something a 3 year old built while the rest of the suit looks great
That's a really great video ! I bought the templates and I'm slowly working my way throught it. Unfortunately, I'm having a hard time with the helmet. Especially the ''side chin part''. I'm trying to look at your build and your helmet but I can't seem to find a way to accomodate the templates so it looks great. Thanks for the video btw !
Hi, I’m not sure if you’re completely new to Pepakura and foam but this helps explain a lot. ruclips.net/video/vRrfclFDiS0/видео.html
I’m happy now
Nice
Thanks
If you ever have nylon that looks a bit too shiny (yours looks perfect this is just a suggestion!) or want a more earthy and textured paint you can use a mix of thin glue and colored chalk. I’ve seen people mix brown and tan to cover up shiny nylon and other materials that stick out (an all black pouch on a camo uniform for example). I suppose you could mix the right colors to get a more gritty looking mud or grime paint that you could use for weathering. Instead of a brown coating of dirt it could be a simulated splash of dried mud.
Okay
FINALLY!
One question, what thickness of EVA fam did you use?
Nice video and nice idea combining velcro and magnets. Also, the "simple" parts of a build needs mentioning again and again. It's far too easy to jump right in and stress through the build. Practice pays off in the end.
And take care of yourself, Stealth. Those are toxic fumes and dust released whenever you use the woodburner and your rotary tool :)
Cheers Mr. Spriken :) You got some video time as well.
Sweet costume men👍👍. Hope we can meet in future con. Im making Master Chief from Halo 4
That’s really cool!
Is there any way to harden or treat the EVA foam to make it more durable, and able to be “used” in a sense? I’ve always wanted a set of armour like this but the foam seems so delicate, like I wouldn’t be able to run around and roll and climb in it. Would painting it in fibreglass resin or bindi work?
id say heat sealing it with a heat gun or blow dryer
What is the thickness of EVA foam used for the video?
@Heroes Workshop, I may have made my helmet hole too small to fit my head into, I've already done all the other weathering and painting steps. I'm going to cut a part of the back off of the helmet and make it removable so I can put it on, but since I used Plasti-Dip there's obviously a safety issue here.
Do I need a dust mask or a full on respirator when cutting through Plasti-Dip?
It would be wise to wear safety gear when cutting it apart. Wear a dust mask with a filter at minimum.
what are all of the foam thicknesses used?
Excelente !!!! Wow!!!
Thank you!
What mm of EVA fome did u use for making the armour?
What size foam did you use for the body armor
Where can I get that mannequin? Ive been looking for one for an armor stand like that
the templates from your store are already scaled as the armor you build in the video? or i need to check the proportions as you?
Read the product description.
What type of black long sleeve shirt is that you were wearing at the beginning and where can I buy one for my project?
It’s called a tactical combat shirt. Also look up Emerson Gen 3
Hey, I have 2 quick questions. 1 What did you use to make the visor, like what type of plastic? It looks so cool and I would love to have one on mine. And 2, where did you get all the foam and how much did you end up using?
It was a vac form visor. I got the foam locally. You can also get it online. Search on my website under cosplay supplies heroesworkshop.com
@@Heroesworkshop That's super helpful. Thank you!
Is there a way too help me make the chest plate
molto bella
Grazie
Hey Stealth what Sandtone are you using. I really like the colourconcept with the dessert style.
I used a color called “dune” from artminds. I got the jar from Michael’s.
www.michaels.com/diy-home-decor-acrylic-paint-by-artminds-8oz/M10400792.html
Did you do anything to help keep the leg pieces from sliding off?
Straps that connect from the belt and they drop down and connect to the thighs with clips.
hey where did you get your mannequin
Hi you have inspired me, I bought the template off you and I'm Having a crack at making this, But I'm having an issue that The Side Chest plate File is crashing pepakura Everytime i open it.
Can you email me on my website using the contact form? I’ll send you the working file.
Where’d you get your visor for the helmet? Or did you vacuform the visor? Regardless, enjoyed this video of all the other videos.
It was from a helmet I already had laying around but I would’ve vac formed and dyed it if I had to make another one. I’ll show that at some point in the future when a project calls for it.
@@Heroesworkshop Excited to see shen the time comes
How much would this cost to have someone make?
It'd look cool if you roll up the sleeves with it. Awesome cosplay!
Thanks but what about the forearm armor?
@@Heroesworkshop The way I imagine it would be without gauntlets, and rolled sleeves with a tac band or gps on the forearm/wrist like you would see on a modern day operator in a desert environment. I dont know best how to describe it but for example jack cooper from titanfall 2 or modern warfare mil sim operator hahah. It's my imagination so it might look goofier in reality but I have thought of this being my dream cosplay of integrating modern mil stuff into an ODST costume.
Great job, I thoroughly enjoyed this video when i watched it but i didnt comment smh
What size foam do you use? What would you recommend from the Amazon list?
You can make this whole suit with 6mm if need be
@@Heroesworkshop thank you!!
Yeah what he said
Do you need an air brush to paint these or can you use spray cans? Also great video!
I wouldn’t use spray can paint. It’ll crack when the foam bends.
Use water based acrylic paints.
Okay, thanks!
would like to know what cuts are straight n wot not
Then watch the Pepakura beginner tutorial and apply the techniques to any pepakura files. ruclips.net/video/vRrfclFDiS0/видео.htmlsi=8pqjtvby05T12QEv
I’m making this for Halloween this year. I was wondering how tall you are, just to see if I can adjust it to my height
You need to scale it to you. The templates are not scaled to anyone’s height. Every part need to be scaled to your own proportions.
So is the foam like the helmet 8mm thick
Yes. A lot of the armor parts are 8mm thick foam
10:54 Why does this look soo much like a stardard marine but like very well armored?!
Cause no visor in helmet yet
Looks fan-fucking-tastic big daddy!!
How sturdy are the parts like the helmet, I'm trying to make one but dont want to be too rough and break it
Not sure what you’re going to be doing in it but for cosplay use it’s fine. Any costume will break if you’re not careful with it.
@@Heroesworkshop thx
Hi really nice..do you have those templates ?
Hi. Link is in the video description
@@Heroesworkshop thanks will download tommorow
What did you use for the under suit ?
I used Atacs desert tactical pants and shirt.
Awesome! But it’s a STAFF Sgt rank. Got my ass chewed for that once
Soooooo I just went down the rabbit whole and I’m now I’m gunna start on a full ODST set of armor and weapons but I’m confused on how scaling would work and how to properly have it fit me
This in-depth tutorial teaches you how to use the Pepakura Designer and foam Pepakura templates and there are tips on scaling as well. ruclips.net/video/vRrfclFDiS0/видео.html
@@Heroesworkshop thank you I’ll be watching it and start planing out the build
question for all the cosplay ppl out here, would it be worth it to 3D the pieces or is it better to just use EVA foam? (saying both options are viable as a choice)
Why not foam? Look at my result. It’s all foam. Even the helmet. 😎
@@Heroesworkshop indeed haha, looks amazing !
👏👏👏👏👏
😎👍🏻
what sealer did you use?
It’s called “bounce foam coat rubberizer”
What thickness foam did you use for your build? It looks like 6mm or 8mm?
Both. Depends on the part.
@@Heroesworkshop Fair enough, for the torso and thigh armor. What mm foam did you use for them?
I don’t remember. Sorry. Try to use your best judgment. That’s how you learn for other projects aside from this.
Magnets? How do they work?
Magic
Do you take commissions?
@@Heroesworkshop is there anyone you could recommend
What thickness of foam did you end up using?
It varied depending on the part I was building from 6-8mm
@@Heroesworkshop do you happen to remember which parts were the 6mm and the 8mm? looking at most of the video, the "white-ish" area might be 6mm and the black the 8mm? or the opposite ?
hey how much millimeter of foam do you use for the armor
It varies from 8mm, 6mm and details were 4mm
@@Heroesworkshop Thanks
The camo is atacs au
Yup.
do you have an approximate cost for this entire project?
No. Sorry.
I can’t find the templates? Or is it the one I have to pay for?
They’re linked in the description.
As the video mentioned.
I'm sorry to bother you but when we buy the templates does it show us what millimeter of foam to use? Or does pepakura tell us what millimeter to use when we put the template on the program?
Foam thickness for a project is something you learn over time through trial and error. No, the files don't say what thickness to use but I can recommend using 6 mm for the helmet and 8 mm for the armor and thinner thicknesses for details on top of the armor parts. Once you build that you'll understand what thickness is to use in the future for other builds. Remember to watch the beginner tutorial on pepakura and foam building that's on my website and RUclips channel here.
@@Heroesworkshop thank you so much for taking the time and commenting back!
so spartan or odst which is better
I like both to be honest
question what type of foam are you using?
Eva foam. It’s used in almost every video on the channel.
@@Heroesworkshop Thanks a lot. I am new and only seen two videos. Hope to see more. Your ODST suit looks amazing
Call me crazy, but it looks perfect for rough work
Thanks
Where are the progress videos
This is literally the full progress vlog of the entire build.
Is there an actual step by step video anywhere
I have a beginner tutorial on how to use pepakura and foam. The point is to watch that and apply what you learn to other templates like these ones. It's on my channel and website . It's impossible to do a tutorial for every single thing I make.
Oh okay thank you sorry if the comment sounded rude

Did you 3D print this?
Check out other videos. Nothing I make is 3D printed at the moment. Just handmade out of Eva foam.

I got templates from a different RUclips channel showing their build, they were $5, but I still didn't get them. Talk about money wasted.
Sorry to hear that.
