Going back to someone’s theory that Intamin wanted the ride torn down for liability reasons, the reality could have instead been that they offered to upgrade the ride with an LSM launch for CP to improve their public image, and possibly at a lower price. That would make a lot more sense, as they get good PR benefits and get money (and potentially a fixed relationship) with Cedar Fair. And happy birthday
That makes sense. Intamin probably wants to repair their relationship with Cedar Fair. That way, Cedar Fair will start putting new Intamin rides in their parks again.
Happy Birthday, I did not have high hopes for this video from the title and description, but it was actually solid info and speculation. Rare to see on this platform for this particular subject
Thank you for the news. I hope this repairs Cedar Fairs and Intamin's relationship because I love Intamin coasters and would like more at Cedar Point. Happy Birthday and congrats on the subs.
Happy late birthday! I was by a cedar point employee that dragster would reopen but with brand new trains, my guess is that the track is being sent their to be adjusted so it fits the new trains or a nee launch all together.
Yeah, the simple explanation here is probably the most likely. TTD is gonna have an Indrivetec LSM system installed, get new trains, and maybe a tweak to the break run (but probably just better breaks). Also a re-theme and new paint.
BTW it's going to Italy, then from the port in Genoa it's going to the Manufacturer/Company that Intamin uses/used to make the track and supports for TTD. It's all common knowledge
It's not "common knowledge" not everyone looks at random shipping reports and decodes where it means they will go based on the nearby companies related to Intamin.
I agree its pretty common knowledge since its Intamin track and was manufactured in Italy. This is Intamins project and I am stoked. Making a return to Cedar Fair hopefully
based on this information it looks like the port of genoa is just a holding area. like when you order a package it goes to a few different places for some time and then gets sent to the final destination. i think it is really going to the intamin factory in switserland
Happy birthday man. They are clearly gonna put it on a train or trucks and drive the shipment up to intamin. Here’s my theory….. everybody. Drumroll……. I give. 85 percent chance that if dragster stays, it won’t be ready until 2024. There’s no way.. 15 percent chance it will be ready in time. There’s just no way. Fat chance. That’s a lot Of work. It takes 2-4 years to Build a bridge. They aren’t flipping a ride in a half year.
Does Intamin manufacture and refurbish track in Liechtenstein? Presumably there would be strong rail linkages between there and Genoa. I'm of the belief that having Intamin on this project is simply a necessity. We're talking about a ride that, even 20 years after creation, is still highly-experimental and drastically beyond the size of what other companies are experienced with. Given they are the original builder, they are the only maker to go over 400 (and, for that matter, one of only two makers in operation to go over 300), they are the only ones who built the original launch mechanism, and they have a lot of expertise in using LSM launches for taller rides, working with them on this is kind of a logical step (or, alternatively, if Cedar is hellbent on not working with them, scrapping the ride seems to make the most sense.)
I'm assuming all the track is going back to the nearest port to Intamin main HQ for a verification check before it goes to scrap. None of Intamin's locations are production facilities. Production is left to existing steel manufacturers. i.e. Intamin's subcontractor Stakotra in Slovakia.
It might not stop in Genoa it could be shipped by boat from new york to Genoa and then end up somewhere else And Genoa is one of the closest ports to intamins headquarters so it might very going there
Because not everyone knows what a shipping container is, but calling it a container the size of a truck puts it in context Oh and I literally called them shipping containers in the video…
But they have taken down EVERYTHING. Supposing they were just sending it back to Intamin for fabrication work, why take the supports, the transfer track, the station track... That's a lot to take down and ship like that. My thinking was that CP might use only the footings going forward, and Intamin just wanted the old scrap for various reasons. Maybe saying it another way: Just because it's getting shipped to Intamin, doesn't necessarily mean it will come back to CP.
Last part is true, however there is a very logical answer to all of that. All of that track will need to be retrofitted because it is all track that controls the train’s motion (block zones). As for supports, intamin doesn’t use radio tower style track any more so it is entirely possible that any track work will require reworked supports too
This dragster thing really puzzles me. I feel like it would be much cheaper for Intamin to come to Ohio and retrofit the track than for all the track to be shipped halfway across the world
You know, that’s a great point. I have heard rumors of intamin being on site last month but I cannot confirm that at all. I’m hoping they announce something soon about it because we now are starting to have to figure it out on our own
Paying people to live in another country for months and months would cost WAY more than shipping the track out and back. Also, no way in hell are they going to outsource something like this.
The track is going to intamin to be fitted for its new launch system this is from my friend who is a cedar point executive . The name top thrill dragster will retire now he said it will have some exciting new twist and that it will be a lsm launch of some sort. He said expect a press release by the end of the year I also was told wait till the plans for 2024 come out there will be exciting plans and he said for now I'll have to put a cork in it.
Do we know how much track is being shipped (so far) or is it only just a few pieces? Seems like a big expense just got bigger with sending it all over seas to be worked on rather than having new track installed or the work being done onsite to just bring back the same experience. I really don't think a change to LSMs will be something too many people will be happy with after it is tried, and if the park attempts to advertise this as new, even with a new name and theme, wont get the response the park is hoping for and people think they will be giving. Seems like a very expensive risk, just to keep a 20 year old ride. the money would be better spent on something new. ANd if only a few pieces are being sent, maybe Intimin requested them for something else? DO we really know for sure ?
the cost of shipping one way must be less than the cost of steel/manufacturing new track. also, it's probably more likely to fit back on the structure properly if they just modify the original.
@@eddieholt8222 On a 20 year old problematic ride? Sell the damn thing. If your vehicle was 20 years old and giving you problems, would you keep it and keep putting money into it, or get rid of it and buy a new car?

If this is just an LSM retrofit, why would they need to remove the track after the drop? Wouldn’t they simply need to remove the launch track unless there will be another launch and layout alterations after the top hat
This is a good move for Intamin, but it's still up in the air on if Cedar Fair will want to build a relationship with Intamin again. It's a hard business choice for Cedar Fair, since Intamin rides are great but very unreliable, while B&M continues to deliver ultra-reliable rides.
@@StationWait But that's it though, something is better than nothing is not acceptable from a Company like Cedar Fair. There is no way anybody is going through all of this trouble, re-investing millions, converting 20 year old track to fit an LSM Launch System, which theoretically will downgrade the attraction and resulting in a possible decrease in capacity. The hydraulic launch is what made it what it special. Why not do the fabrication work in the States, engineering offsite in Europe? Why is the Brake Run Track not being scrapped and being shipped off just as careful as the launch track? Huge crane is still sitting offsite, why? If all we're seeing is an LSM conversion, what is a crane of that size and magnitude even needed for? We're about to be shocked, and wowed. I'd put my money on TTD being sold, and we're seeing it be shipped off to become Europe's Tallest and fastest coaster.
it is hard to judge considering B&M, Gerstrauler and Zamprela (who we already know CP has a current working relationship with) are all about the same distance from Genoa as Intamin is

I certainly hope that will be the case lol
Apparently even their newer rides aren't doing all that great though..

@idkwhattoputhere lol well in my defense, this video/comment was before that fact was revealed to me. I still lowkey hope it’s intamin though

If it's a new launch system, it must not feel less intense than the original. If that's the case, Kingda Ka rules.

I said the whole time that Intamin is tied to the project. It's their coaster and they would take responsibility for their coaster.
Why would Intamin drop containers of track at their HQ?
