It's funny. I used to listen to this song as a depressed, suicidal 14yo coping with horrific trauma, hoping that one day I'd gain the courage to be a part of the world. And here I am, almost 20, and revisiting this song, it hits so differently. Everything I thought I'd never be capable of, I'm beginning to become capable of.
The shell of a person that I once was, the trauma of a girl scared to speak out for fear of more harm, and the silent, scared little girl that I used to be is no longer who I am. I have friends, I feel capable, something that I never thought possible. Sure, maybe my current path is not what I would have thought I'd do with myself as an adult, but I'm sure as hell happy and for the first time in my life I am not that scared little girl anymore wondering what I did wrong to deserve my scars. I might be scarred, but I am not broken, I'm just different. Those broken pieces still make a whole person, and I will use the voice I never thought I had to tell the story I was always made to write
For the first time in my life I believe what I'm telling myself. I don't feel like I'm telling myself these things to feel better about how inadequate and worthless I feel. For the first time in my life the words coming out of my mouth I'm able to believe. If I could tell past me one thing, it's to not give up. The light at the end of the tunnel never felt so good

I was bullied ..Yeah it sucks . Even worse is when ur teacher bullies you . But just speaking to someone is not gonna help tbh . Im saying from my personal experience , maybe Im wrong .
What helped me is that I stared getting physical in arguments (I know , I know its wrong and everything but tell that to kid who was choking by some retared kid once . And Its not like I beat kids , I just say to them stuff like ,,Im gonna beat you so hard if you will continue (with bullying)´´ But I got fight with someone like 3 times . But usually I just slap someone or scream at them ..Yeah kids are scared of me and Im happy that they leave me alone ) But hey if someone is actually reading this and you are going thru bullying , heres my advice (warning maybe Im worng Im 13 and I dont know or understand a lot of stuff so dont take me too seriously) : Show to them or that person that you are stronger than they think . Or try to scare them . Try to have reputation "you dont want to mess with me" . Dont let them break you and dont revenge yourslef . Bullies are usually kids that go thru bad stuff in their lifes too . Funny that Im saying that cuse once I was bully . I didnt bullied that person for fun I bullied that person bcs I was scared of him ...

I'm not anti social but I don't really like to talk to people and hey I get it. I just started high school and being a freshman makes me feel small at times. but some times you just got to let and just be you. I know it's not easy to talk to people but all is put yourself out there once and I'm sure at least one person will take notice.

This is my message to everyone here who has depression and especially if you are suicidal. Don't do it. it's not worth it. Trust me, things get better. I'm recovering from depression and being suicidal myself, it get's better. All you need is someone there to encourage you to fight on, you commit suicide is giving into your bullies, your abusers, who ever picks on you. Don't let them win. It get's better, trust me. I may not know you personally, but never give up. You are beautiful and whoever says you aren't is blind. Be that beautiful you you were meant to be.

I use to outgoing when I was little and something happened in my life and now I'm shy and quiet, the weird part is that for some reason I get quieter over the years, like last year I use to be able to talk to someone and not really be afraid of being around people but now I'm just can't talk, I try to but all I do is repeat what to say in my head over and over. I wish people would tell me to be myself, and it's ok. That I can speak freely, and sometimes people will but I just can't it's so weird! And even with friends it's hard.

I was like you. I was able to talk alot and didn't care what others thought of me, but now I'm quiet as can be. I'm scare to speak up and scare to talk to anyone. But you know? If you dont push and force yourself to speak up even though it's very scary, you'll end up regretting later. No matter how hard it is to force your voice to come out, you just gotta try it. I'm kinda able to speak up a bit, but still quiet as a mouse. You can do it, just try! Even if you failed, at least you tried. Gotta force yourself a little bit! Good luck!

If anything, use your envy (I assume you have a little envy) as some motivation to improve. Don't beat yourself up over it, because that literally accomplishes nothing but hurting you and making you *less* likely to improve like you want to.

Popularity doesn't mean anything. (For the most part.)
In my experience, and most people's, people who are "popular" (during high school, anyway, which I think you may be in?) are generally worse off for it. They're often unhappy and unhealthy, and feel ingenuine, insecure, and cold. (That's not everyone, just a generalization of one category of "popular" people.) *Especially* if they're a bully.
Don't let other people tear down your self-worth like that. You are a human being and a living thing, which gives you the magical ability of automatic worth. Over time, you will learn to see the value in yourself as others recognize it. It's sort of like when other people see a pattern: you'll wonder how someone else saw it, but you missed it.
That's literally exactly what this song is about. Regret for not seeing your worth earlier. Sadness for being sad for no good reason. In short, regret and sorrow for making stupid mistakes that you wish you'd not have made, for not seeing things that were right in front of you. Please, whoever you are, don't keep making that mistake. It's pointless, and you're gonna regret it just like the writer of this song. You have such worth and value, you are wonderful and awesome, you are everything you wish to be, you just have to see it.
And if you aren't some things that you wish, such as easygoing or kind, etc, things that you can change... do something about it! One of the wonderful things about life is that being alive requires a person to constantly be undergoing change, in so many ways. Down to the diffusion of particles in the cells that compose your body, you are constantly changing without even knowing it. Every time you think or experience anything, your neurons and synapses register it into your short-term memory, which alongside other processes permanently alters your biochemistry. In short, your experiences and choices change who you are.
You have the choice to make those experiences and changes good or bad through your decisions. Please, don't choose to let negativity rule you. I've been there, done that, most of my life, and it's not worth it. You gain so little and lose so much. Don't do it. Be positive. Be willing to see your worth and see how great you really are. (And see the same in others, and make them see it, too!) Because you are worth it. You are worthy of seeing how green the grass really is. And of a whole world more.

Was bullied by my crush when he found out I liked him,hurt by his friends,was abandoned by my best friend on vacation time before turning to fifth grade,was left behind by my friends by they're other friends,my baby brother dying,and suicidal threat at the age of 10.

About your brother, we don't know.. If he was Muslim he would go to Heaven, if he was not, he would go to... Hell. If he was trying to have the pardon of God right before his death, he would be to Heaven. But only God knows.. Maybe he would go to Heaven because he was a nice person AND believed God?

When I was younger (middle school) I listened to this song dreaming I would be able to do this in the future.
It ended up my dreams have come true. If I could go back in time and tell my younger self everything that’s happened since I started High school, I doubt she would believe me because it’s just so different than what life was like in middle school. Everything’s improved, my depression - though still there- is much less severe than when I was younger. I have a much better group of friends, my health and self-confidence is very much recovered from when I was younger, and overall I’m much happier and much more confident.
Mainly, what I’m saying is: Life may suck right now, but just be patient. Sometimes it’s not you but the people around you that need to mature.

This song really made me feel good, i'm self conscious, and i purposely wear over-grown sweaters and jackets 24/7. i also get very shy, and nervous around my own family A LOT, i'm not very social (unless i know you very good) The only place where i can be a social butterfly is on the internet. Sometimes i think about suicide, but i'm too afraid to actually do it.
