Wondering if you can tell me: can I view video from the Osmo 5 in real time through DJI goggles via HDMI or similar cable? Not sure if the Osmo and Goggles have compatible output/input ports. the dji goggles do not have an video in capability other than the wireless connection to drones and the action can output video via usb-c to a computer but not to an HDMI convertor

I'm trying to 'build' an underwater drone but without the drone, only the camera. The camera would be mounted to a wand (like a metal detector) and I want to watch the video stream through goggles rather than a tablet-type monitor.

Thanks for this video. After many years of GoPro (from the first models to Hero 7) I am looking to change it up to something new. Love the video. Was out in Alaska about 25yrs ago and brought back memories.
DJI is really killing it. As good as the 5 is, I just bought a 4 and it’s so good that I don’t even feel that upgrade FOMO regret. They need to go ahead and release a hybrid mirrorless camera and send everybody else back to the drawing board.
I started my journey shopping for action cameras last night and I still have a shopping cart full of items on GoPro’s site, but after your review I’m reconsidering everything. This is my second video of your’s that I’m watching and I’m going to subscribe right away. A few questions : 1.) Would you recommend the Action 5 for capturing mountain biking footage? 2.) How do you feel about GoPro’s ND filters?
I haven't used GOPro's ND filters but I would think they are quite good. The Action 5 pro will work very well for mountain biking especially with it's very wide field of view
Wow. First off amazing video man! But wow it looks like DJI nailed this one! I fully expected to see them sell this for $429 given the specs and performance (that internal storage!), but they start it at $349! Dang!

There is a special mount for the stinger (lower part of the tail) and then some magic to make sure the camera is secure lol. the form and size are exactly the same

Hey Jake awesome review on the new DJI Action 5 PRO 👍👍. I like they're adding 45 gigs internal storage big time, it kinda saved the kayak shots. I like all the upgrades and agree 2.7k at 240fps would have been even better, but still they did good and awesome dynamic range too. Great review as always Jake. The DJI Air 3s is probably coming within the next like two weeks, there's FCC label and box photos. I don't really need to upgrade but fun to see where they go.

I’ve been looking for a decent action camera to replace my older insta 360 I traded in a couple year’s ago.. after this release I text my wife from the shoot I’m on and said “ honey, please order this for me .. “.. and now I’m stretched out on the couch of the Airbnb I’m shooting and taking a nap while watching all the release videos and yours 😆
Yeah I have asked them why that is. The old action had h264 and HEVC encoding where the 5 only has hevc. So that part of it because hevc is a much more efficient encoding compression. But still wouod like to know why
Great review, you do a incredible job of covering all the features 👍 For me, I like my gopro 12 as I have the media mod which allows me to connect the camera straight to a tv or projector without needing to use my laptop, and I can plug any external mic in through the 3.5mm mic jack. Does the action 5 have any accessory to do the same? If it does I'm definitely switching.

Looooong time ago I had a GoPro3 for scuba diving. I sold it and about a year ago bought a GoPro10. Nothing but problems, reliability problems, battery drain etc. Ordered an OA4 and sold the GP, happy as a clam. If you have any cloud whatsoever with DJI, please tell them that if they can make a compact camera like the Olympus Tough TG6/7 with its built in macro function but expand its capabilities to that of the Sony RX100VII, i.e. 20MP or more, ability to work in full manual mode, great sensor, 24 - 200mm zoom range etc., then I can guarantee that many many people in the diving community would buy it. Oh and with their new battery, maybe they should get into making electric vehicles ha ha.
Nice FPV footage. I always fly in 60fps since the drone is moving so fast 30fps looks odd due to the speed of the drone. I had to switch to a naked GoPro since most action cameras are too heavy for a 5 inch quad.
@JakeSloan I probably will get it since the price isn't all that bad. I have an Action 4 and am really impressed with how DJI always manages to leap ahead with features and tech for cameras.

Until you compare ALL aspects against the Insta360 Ace Pro, it’s of little use to praise the advantages. Yes, for those few that, after using an action cam still go grade Log footage, the Ace Pro is of no use; yes, for those that want 4k60 HDR, the Ace Pro can’t do it (I own one and I admit that even the non HDR footage from the Ace Pro has a lot of dynamic range! But it would be a lot better to have HDR at 4K60). But until a comparison is made to see REAL footage for REAL people (and not those filming for a Red Bull commercial), all this is just of little help. I never met someone that shoots in Log (action cam scenario, not professional for commercials) but all need an excellent dynamic range, stabilization, night performance and easy to use. The Ace Pro have that to me, the flip screen is an excellent bonus. This Action 5 Pro seems also to be a great alternative, perhaps even better. But without comparing both on the important stuff, internal storage, log etc is of little value.
Do you have a 5.3k tv then? Also, 4k from a larger sensor will give better detail and sharpness than 5.3k from a smaller sensor. Give me a bigger sensor allnday long.
I've heard that the Hero 13 has 5.7k but overheats like crazy. I don't even use 5.1k on my DJI Mavic 3 or 5.7k on my Insta360 X3. 4k is enough for what I do
IDK what it is but it's the same with my action 4, skin tones make your face look like plastic sometimes. Like maybe some kind of skin softening or noise reduction going on that really messes with the skin. I've stopped using my action 4 for vlogging because of this. Other than that, looks amazing
Everything awesome on the Action 5 Pro, blows the Hero13 out of the water! Until the 60mbit/s at 4k60p kicks in... until this is fixed by a firmware upgrade, ill have to stick with the GoPros. I mean, even the Action 4 had 120mbit/s

you may want to set it to manual settings to get your subject exposed the way you want it to

both will stream over USB-c but both will suffer in lower light
The bitrate and artifacts are REAL rough though.
Yeah I have asked DJI about the bit rate because I want to understand why they lowered it but I haven't heard back yet

The Ace Pro have that to me, the flip screen is an excellent bonus. This Action 5 Pro seems also to be a great alternative, perhaps even better. But without comparing both on the important stuff, internal storage, log etc is of little value.

I've heard that the Hero 13 has 5.7k but overheats like crazy. I don't even use 5.1k on my DJI Mavic 3 or 5.7k on my Insta360 X3. 4k is enough for what I do
@@jonahkaiguam I've got the hero 12 with 5.3 and it almost never overheats so I'm not sure why the 13 would start overheating.

IDK what it is but it's the same with my action 4, skin tones make your face look like plastic sometimes. Like maybe some kind of skin softening or noise reduction going on that really messes with the skin. I've stopped using my action 4 for vlogging because of this. Other than that, looks amazing
you definitely want to make sure sharpeness is turned down and noise reduction.
All this begs the question: how does it perform outside in triple digit temperatures ??
better than gopro used to but it will struggle as will most cameras with no fans

Until the 60mbit/s at 4k60p kicks in... until this is fixed by a firmware upgrade, ill have to stick with the GoPros. I mean, even the Action 4 had 120mbit/s
