Ichi is a skilled swordsman, and an efficient killer, but the thought of taking another person's life is a burden that he doesn't want to carry anymore. Having found that life is sacred, Ichi decides he would rather take a beating than defend himself and kill another person.

Was still cool tho how we just said " this man's lucky, you win. You won't see me again" and then leaves, super badass that he didn't make a thing of it, I love movies. Also random but as a 19 year old I'm finding older movies are often far more badass and passion-filled then I would have expected

They were not tried, were they? People condemn the massacre of civilians in Nanking, so why not the massacre of Japanese civilians by the US military? It is the same violation of international wartime law. Invading another country's territory or overthrowing another country's government is a bad thing, and I am sorry that our ancestors did something so utterly stupid, but double standards are not good. When we point out the problems with the victorious nation and the postwar process in this way, some people will say that the Japanese people are not remorseful. But demonizing the Japanese will not make the rest of the world come clean.

Brave and righteous men and women are born in every civilization it is almost impossible to say which produces more.
