With OTA updates, you can keep the unit up-to-date by fixing software issues and enhancing security. Just a few taps, and your device is on the path to improvement!
Note: Some car stereos run on Android 12 since they're made before Android 13 ones are released. You can upgrade it to Android 13 via OTA updates. Наука
I've been searching for real beginners videos on how to install these units, and yours is the best! Clear step by step instructions without skipping any steps which others do. Have you got an eonon reverse cam install vid ?
Thanks, having seen a few other videos it did seem most did a mix between giving advice and then just showing the unit working, I did hope my video would help more people by giving more step by step process.
I’ve got the dash cam and rear camera but not had time to fit it yet as I was planning on doing the same level of in depth video which takes a lot of time filming and editing.
I will have a video coming soon for it so subscribe if you haven’t done so and it should be coming soon.
@@MATechRUclips thanks - I'll look forward to it
Great video: I've watched almost every video on YT regarding VWA12S-6G and found yours amongst the most detailed and informative (start to finish). AWESOME JOB! 🎯 I just finished installing mine, and I must say I am very impressed with the head unit. I did encounter a few issues, but got them sorted out with the help of Eonon's great technical support. I haven't had extensive use of the hands free calling feature yet... I decided not to install the included mic. I'm hoping the built in mic on the unit will suffice - fingers crossed.
Give it a shot because I’m not sure if it defaults to the car internal mic if you simply don’t use the external mic, it’ll most likely use the one on the front of the head unit near the tf card slot.
Great video, thanks. Considering this for my CC. You won't integrate with your instrument cluster unfortunately. That's only for OEM head units.
Thinking about upgrading it to a virtual cockpit anyway to update the dials and then I believe you should be able to use the hdmi out from the head unit to mirror what’s on the head unit.
This is definitely a massive update and I’m sure you’ll love it in your CC.
As for the mic: I believe you can change the level at which it records sounds. Go to Settings - Car - Factory settings, and enter 126 as a password. Then you'll enter a setup menu with different tabs. Choose the "Voice" tab. You'll see many different volume options, among which is "MIC". I believe that when you set this at a higher level, that will improve the level of sound recorded by the mic (which should result in better sound quality for the people you are phoning). After you changed the level, choose "Apply" and then "Exit" and let the unit reboot.
Changing the level on that setting will simply increase gain which will result in more noise. This was also confirmed by eonon themselves during my troubleshooting (which has been quite in depth since I’ve had the unit).
I intend on unplugging the mic and testing the built in mic on the head unit but as I’be been working pretty much non-stop for the past 3 weeks I’ve not had a chance to test this yet.
If I manage to resolve the issues I will post a new video.
@@MATechRUclipsI think you'll discover that the internal mic is worse than the external mic you're using now. (I'm using the external mic supplied by Eonon.) When I installed my unit, I decided to first try the internal mic. The result was that none of my voice commands worked and the people I phoned often couldn't hear what I said. Using the external mic solved all those problems.
But... feel free to try ofcourse! In my case, the internal mic was a no go, but it might be different in your case.
very nice setup 🤍
👌🏽
Hi, great video, friend.
Question: How do I get the car's original microphone to work?
Thank you very much
Unless your car has a physical cable that plugs into the old head unit it won’t be possible without tracing the cable and splicing the wire manually.
As my car used a aftermarket upgrade for the phone it has its own module rather than a simple cable and this changing the head unit bypasses that. You car could be different but essentially what you’re looking for is a cable similar to the included microphone that you can connect to the new head unit.
Glow up
It sure is 👍🏽
Do you think buying an improved microphone would help with the phone calls?
The mic included appears to be a lavalier mic which is designed to only pickup sounds close to it, not sure whether a different type of mic would perform better
@@MATechRUclips is it correct in that the inbuilt vw microphones will not work with the headunit?
How about cold boot time?
The head unit will be done in less than 6s and then CarPlay is usually booted within about 12s.
Put it this way, it’ll be done by the time you e belted up and start driving.
@@MATechRUclips Thanks for the quick response 👍 Just ordered to replace my cheap chinese one which takes 2 minutes to boot into carplay.
Don’t think anything I’ve tested is that slow 😂
Can I suggest you to more grow your RUclips channel?
