- Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine is a multi-platform action-adventure video game by LucasArts released in 1999. The first 3D installment in the series, its gameplay focuses on solving puzzles, fighting enemies, and completing various platforming sections. The story is set in 1947, nine years after the events of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and puts the eponymous protagonist, the adventurer Indiana Jones, against the Soviet Union. In a race for a mythological Babylonian power source, he joins forces with the Central Intelligence Agency and collects four pieces of the Infernal Machine, an ancient device that allegedly opens a portal to another dimension.

Indiana Jones and the infernal machine on the nintendo 64. Recorded using a dazzle and on original real console hardware and game cartridge. Игры
After the James and Mike Play video of this, I've been promoting your video to the retro community not familiar with the game, cuz your ass sold me on this game. Excellent work as usual.
Big up that you watch this channel. I love both of you guys :D
It's nice to know, that one of your favorite youtubers also watch another of your favorites.
Still have have my original boxed n64 copy that I bought from blockbuster for $11 in 2001.
One of the greatest Video Games🤠
🤘🏼
I missed this one as a kid. Looks like I would have loved it.
Can't go wrong with an Indiana jones game! Except for maybe the wii staff of kings
WrecklessEating No this game is god awful - if you get stung by a snake at anytime - you have to reset the game as you will always be poisoned to death even after checkpoints - its crap graphics and worse controls.
+seetube5 Don't listen to this guy, sounds like he watched James Rolfe and Mike Matei play it... those two are idiots. Yes if bitten by a snake you will die of poison... unless you use antivenom, which is plentiful and cheap. Those two idiots just didn't even think to look for an inventory. The graphics are also among the best on the console, and I think the controls on the PC version are ok, not great but still fine. Since the N64 controls are improved over that, I'm sure they are fine too.
shivore To be honest - yes i did watch James and Mike - but to be fair the game would be worse now, then when it came out. But i feel James and mike recent play-through would be a true experience to today gamers.
+seetube5 I had the PC version of the game and it was good. I can't speak for the N64 version, but the graphics were reasonable for the late 90's. The controls were a bit stiff, and jumping across platforms had to be pixel perfect (which was frustrating) but the exploration and puzzle solving was rewarding. There was a good range of environments to explore (some of them were huge with networks of caves and passages to navigate through) and it was fun overall.
Just because James and Mike said it was shit, doesn't mean that it is.
Ugh Blockbuster only release...
That is like a death sentence for after market prices...
@ch282 I bought it directly from Lucas Arts back in the day.
Here in Brazil it is common because it was sold in all stores
This will forever be my most cherished gaming experience of my childhood
I got this game when I purchased my N64 in 2008 (Long story short, I wanted a N64 when I was a kid while the system was still current but I didn't get one. I wanted one for years and I took matters into my own hands later on) and I think that this and Battle for Naboo are the best looking N64 titles that I've seen. Julian Eggebrecht of Factor 5 in a recent interview stated that this was the craziest thing that the company has worked on (which is saying A LOT); cramming a game that took up 2 CDs into a single cartridge while also trying to improve it.
morefredmoore2 yeah its just a shame indy never seems to get the games that the series should have in recent years
***** My favorite is still Indiana Jones' Greatest Adventures on Super Nintendo. I'm hoping for better Star Wars and Indiana Jones games this generation...they really didn't deliver during the 7th (especially in comparison to the Star Wars games released during the 6th).
That's true. Although emperors tomb on Xbox was pretty fun, the staff of kings was meh
***** The original Xbox 360/ PS3 Staff of Kings game oddly was never released, the watered-down Wii/PS2 "re-imagining" is all we got. Maybe the initial game could have been great, but who knows. 0_o
I have yet to try out Emperors Tomb on Xbox. I got the system not too long ago (I grew up with a GameCube so no Xbox) so I really have no excuse not to. :P
Yeah the beta SOK footage looked awesome, shame it took a step back
Hi. I think the official reason why Tomb Raider never appeared on the N64 (according to N64 magazine) was because Sony signed a deal with Eidos to make Tomb Raider a Playstation exclusive (excluding PC of course) which applied from Tomb Raider 2 onwards. Tomb Raider 64 had been in development but was scrapped when Sony and Eidos agreed a deal. I can't remember which issue of N64 it was but if I find a link I will post it here.
EDIT: This was taken from wiki and had a link to an article but the link seems to be non-existent. "In September 1997, Sony Computer Entertainment America signed a deal
with Eidos to make console releases for the Tomb Raider franchise
exclusive to the PlayStation, preventing the Sega Saturn or the Nintendo
64 from having any Tomb Raider game released for it until 2000, a
deal that would prove very beneficial to Sony both in terms of revenue
dollars and also in further cementing the PlayStation's growing
reputation as the go-to system for must-have exclusive titles."
Another Sony moneyhat, no surprise there then. At least N64 got this instead though.
that's weird because Tomb Raider wasn't originally on PC, it actually released first on Sega Saturn. Released in October 1996 in Europe (Sega Saturn), and then in November 1996 in America on Saturn, PS1 and PC
@@joesaiditstrue you clearly didn't read my comment properly. I said Tomb Raider was a PS exclusive from TR2 onward except on PC.
I purchased this directly from the Lucas Arts site upon hearing it was only available there. I knew it would be rare. I still have and play it.
Me too
I have aids.
Don't forget that Indiana Jones came before Tomb Raider. Tomb Raider, Uncharted, all of them type games, Indiana Jones was the first. Without Indiana none of them games would of existed 💯
This game came out three years after the first Tomb Raider game.
@@henkman00lmfao
@@henkman00are you serious? 🤦🏻
@@henkman00 Yes before THIS game, but do you honestly think that this was the first popular Indiana Jones game? Come on dude.
@@bodacious117 Guys, he said Indiana Jones came before Tomb Raider. He never said that THIS game came before Tomb Raider. Read the comment guys. Don't make yourselves out to be more remedial than you are.
Looks like Ocarina of Time and Body Harvest put together. Holy crap I did not know this existed. I want it! Great review!!
I'm years late, but I discovered this on PC as a Christmas present in 2001. It is the game of my childhood, I usually replay at least once a year. Absolutely adore this game, thanks for spreading awareness!
The Legend of Zelda: The Infernal Machine. Factor 5 could do no wrong.
This is a far more fair take on this game than the recent James and Mike mondays video. :p
+MurraySwe That was just so painful to watch. Really unfair to this forgotten classic. I never played the N64 version, but I loved the PC version growing up. One good thing that did come from that James and Mike video... it motivated me to dig this out and get it working on my PC. Started playing it again last night... it's still a ton of fun!
+shivore Good man. :)
It really angers me when they label a game as shitty when it is clear that they are not even trying.
@@PikaLink91 that's because they go into games how they would as if you were JUST playing the game. They go into it blind, no knowledge of controls to give a more accurate review in the eyes of someone who was at a friend's house to play a game. You can tell in most videos they both don't have any idea what to do. They do more of "at first glance/first impression" reviews rather than actual reviews because they aren't doing reviews. They're playing games. On mondays. Hence the name. Other wise it'd be called James and Mike's review mondays.
@@ClownNaround Still, there's a difference between this, and actually trying. Sure you won't master the controls at your first go, but what you do first in any game is figuring out the controls, so that you know what you have to work with. Otherwise it would be like a carpenter only unpacking his toolbox when he has arrived at work, where he hasn't checked or gotten familiar with his tools beforehand. Without practice, he thus say his tools suck for the job, even though it is really him who should have come prepared. Also, it is just the their attitude. I can be bad at a game, but that don't mean I immediately label it as bad. I suck at many games that I don't call bad.
I played through this game last year, found all the secrets and secret levels and it was pretty good. Some complaints I have are that some of the levels are REALLY long with no save points, so it was a pain to start them over again. There were times when I stayed up too late because I refused to have to restart the level over from the beginning, but questioned my sanity as the level went on and on. Also, occasionally the game crashed on me and I had to reset my N64, so that was very annoying. it definitely had some bugs. Pretty good adventure game overall, I'd give it a 7/10.
Thank you for actually playing this game, unlike Cinemassacre. That channel has a lot of problems brewing under the surface.
I know exactly what you’re talking about

This is where gaming started for me as an 8 year old. I remember playing it with my father who bought it. I had to play it with my dad at my side to translate it all.
This game is special to me and will always have a special place in my heart.
Looks amazing for a 64 game.
Yes, but Indy has a massive head in this game. Almost nendoroid proportions.
The absolute most challenging game I’ve ever played. But seriously the most rewarding when you finally figure out a puzzle you’ve been stuck on for months, finally unlock a door and can advance.
Stoy!
This adventure game ranks up with N64's best adventure games.
It was so rewarding when figuring problems out, or finally finding an elusive treasure!
It's crazy to think both ELMO games were basically made by the same groups.
The game is even better than the 4th film!
How was your experience in the Aetherium?
no64dd thats right this is way better than the 4th film! haha, i loved this personally, great story and locations etc so its my kinda game.
Your reviews are excellent!!!! Being born in 89 I have a huge huge huge appreciation for any n64 title and the story behind it so that being said your reviews really hit the spot!!!!
i love this game! I always prefered it over tomb raider, but I never finished it though. I remember it being very VERY hard.
Gustavo CVE yeah some of the sections are crazy hard
***** this game always looked good
I bought this game on PC when I was in High School and I have fond memories of the adventure. Now I really want to try the N64 version to experience the soundtrack and overall experience.
When you bring up the difference with the expansion pack, it'd be cool if you showed a few comparison screenshots.
0002pA Agree
This game looks soooooo awesome! i would love to play it!
0:44 Indiana Jones and the Golden Eye
I’d buy that for a dollar
I finally caved and dropped $90 for a good condition copy on ebay. I loved this game as a kid.
👏 great decision
@@n64glennplantI'm really looking forward to it. I actually never managed to finish it back in the day. I remember renting it over and over again from blockbuster but never figured out what to do in the desert level with the Pyramids. Its about time I figure it out 😂
I can’t believe how incredible this game looks. I am not a fan of the Indiana Jones franchise but the design of this game has mesmerized me, I would have never expected this to be such a special adventure game
If you liked ocarina of time it plays in a similar way but with levels instead of an open world. It’s a fantastic game, well worth seeking out
N64 Glenn Plant I will definitely. I got a Japanese N64 very recently and your videos have really opened my eyes to so many amazing 64 games I never considered before. It’s very exciting to own one again
Great review, Glenn.
I've been hoping you'd do a review on this game for some time. I had no idea that it was never released officially in the UK. I actually got my copy though Blockbuster video. I remember waiting anxiously for it yo be released and then being utterly confused over the fact that it would not get a standard wide release. It's kind of amazing since the game truly is a hidden treasure for the N64 and still holds up fairly well even today.
I discovered your channel while rediscovering my own N64 memories. I still have my original console and game library from my teenage years and decided to dust it off and play these great old titles. The N64 was my very first console I ever owned and purchased with my first job at a Sam Goody record store.
Indiana Jones has been a life long love of mine and the Infernal Machine has always been one of my favorite titles. It is incredibly challenging to say the least and to this day I am still stuck fighting against Marduk in the atherium level.
Still, quite glad you reviewed this gem. Keep up the great work!
-OAD
I played this on a pc back in 99 and it is still one of my all time favorite games.
You're pretty much my guy on all 64 purchases. Excellent work as usual.
Appreciate that!!!!
@@n64glennplant Appreciate you and the videos you provide bro.
Cheers.
I literally got this at a local retro game store a couple weeks ago for $20 and was looking for video reviews on it, but alas there were few to none. Great review Glenn. I'll be playing this next!
I personally LOVE this game. I can't remember if I've ever played any of the other 3D Indiana Jones games, but I distinctly remember playing this one enjoying it thoroughly
The OG Xbox Indiana jones is decent too
This game is fantastic, i still play it on my N64 and PC RetroArch.
I was able to buy my copy when the local blockbuster went under.
My favorite game of all time
I just picked this up for 35$ from the local game shop. Been enjoying it heaps. Great review, thanks.
I wished they released Staff of Kings for 360 and PS3. Let alone hate how Lucas arts games had a reputation of being delayed and canceled like Battlefront III.
Lieutenant Yoshi Staff Of Kings was meant to be different game entirely for PS3/360 (www.unseen64.net/2009/08/04/indiana-jones-and-the-staff-of-kings-xbox-360-ps3-cancelled/) but they changed it to a Wii/PS2 with token DS game. The best part of Staff Of Kings is how you can play one of the old Indy Point & Click games from back in the day.
Lieutenant Yoshi 2009 was a difficult year for many companies lots of plans canceled
I wish they would come out with an Indiana jones video game for ps4 and xbox one. Set in the 1940's where Indiana Jones under the OSS must travel around the world preventing the Ahnenerbe from finding an ancient scroll to command a lost army of Golems.
Excellent video! Excellent review! I’m so happy to see that this game has a following in this day and age. Back in 1999 I thought I was the only one who actually liked this game. All my friends were busy playing goldeneye and I was playing this game and the legend of Zelda. Originally, I played this game by renting it at Blockbuster. Years later, ( in 2005 I believe) I picked up this game used for the N64 on eBay for a really low price. I’m really glad I did. Even though my Nintendo 64 is in storage, I just recently bought this game on Steam and plan to play it again soon! I never actually beat this game before, so I’m going to have to try it out now. I wonder if it will be easier for me 20 years later LOL Thank you once again for posting this awesome review!
Oh wow this is on steam? I never knew I’ll have to go get it
N64 Glenn Plant Yes it is, I was surprised too! Pick it up before the sale is over... I think I only spent like 3 dollars for it. What a steal! 😊
I love your wrestling reviews but I must admit. it's pretty nice to get a break... A break from the the terrifying, the nightmare inducing, the all around beast of a being! Glenndust!!!!
This game NEEDS to be on the Virtual Console.
The Side Quest Gamer Review Show It would probably be hard even with the license considering its Factor 5, the bane of emulation
I am happy to say I am a proud owner of this game, I got it just before the prices when up. Another reason why I love my N64 :) Great review!
Game thats size of Shadowman for rental only is silly idea. I claim that INDY is one of the must own titles for N64. It is also technically insane achievement. For example, there are full snowstorms on big, sharp 640*480, fog less, highly textured areas without slowdown. I have not played any similar game on PS2 than could compete with Indiana Jones 64, even graphically.
I'd be agreeing with you there although the colossus game was pretty epic in scale and visuals
The games now on GOG. I played it and had no problems getting it to run on my windows 10 PC. So far, I'm having fun with the game. Plugging an Xbox one controller helps make the game feel better to play, and i do recommend using a controller.
We need for Indiana Jones games
Amazing graphics on N64
I swear finding a n64 copy of this game is like finding a ancient artifact in a temple, the temple being my dads basement.
Haha that’s one way to think about it
I have turned this game on in the eavning and played through the night to a sun rise many times. Definitely a hard game but it isn't overly frustrating thanks to unlimited respawns except the moving platforms.
…..the raft section 😯 😂
@@n64glennplant lol you really need the level map for that section
So, I just found out today that this game was so incredibly rare...but, I managed to play a copy around 2002 or 2003 because a friend of mine had bought it from a Blockbuster that was going out of business. It was hard for my 10 year old brain to figure out, even with cheats, but it was definitely a fun and rewarding experience. For sure will be getting it on Steam.
I had this on PC, it was honestly one of the most fun games I ever played.
Love your videos Glenn! You should keep it up even when u finish all n64 games
9:58 nice forearm
I LOVE this game! I was able to find it at a good price for my N64 and snatched it up! Highly recommend!
Niko Capkanis I payed 35
Guys today in 2023 it’s worth $100 dollars easy. Less copies now days i paid $75 for this gem
I've wanted this game for so damn long, and this review only further cemented that.
Hope you get it eventually 👍
This game was at the top of my wishlist back in 1999... Thanks for the review!
Riiven Myst thanks for watching :)
Hi Glenn, it wasn't that the N64 couldn't handle the huge environments - the N64 features a large number of games with levels that completely eclipsed the size of those found in Tomb Raider - Tomb Raiders levels (though taking a long time to finish - bad control+puzzles) have always been a series of small, windy paths attached to small box rooms - the PlayStation and even PC versions of Tomb Raider, 2 and 3 have extremely short draw distances and load in small sections at a time.
The main issues were that N64 cartridges didn't have enough memory for the FMV developers wanted to use, of course cost came into the equation as well - it was a high investment for any developer to use cartridges and Nintendo were notoriously inflexible and burnt a lot of bridges with 3rd parties before the N64 launched. Also Nintendo's dev kit's caused alot of headaches for developers with needless restrictions that prevented developers from making full use of the system, leading to those who could (eg Factor 5, Rare, Iguana, some EA teams, Boss, later UbiSoft titles) to develop their own microcode and modifying the dev kits - Rare even stated that the actual dev kits Nintendo provided were that bad that they even had to solder parts together(!). Core, combined with zero interest from Nintendo and signing the Sony contract ensured their would never be an N64 version. Another great review!!! :)
Didn't know it existed until right now, i would have totally bought this.
Imported this game back in 2001 to rent out in my games shop here in Australia, I also bought a US N64 for it to play on, after trying it out myself I was so disappointed that the PAL release was cancelled as it was easily my favourite game on the system.
Sure Indys arms sometimes poked through walls but these were minor bugs in a otherwise BRILLIANT title, Great review AGAIN Glenn, keep em coming -- Ahem (rocket robot) -- Ahem
This looks ridiculouslly good to be an n64 game. Heck! It almost looks like an early Dreamcast game. The textures are unreal (for the N64). WTH did they do here?
+lmk10000 lucasarts were always awesome at pushing the N64, it’s just a shame we didn’t get even more titles from them
It blew my mind when I heard there was an Indiana Jones N64 Game. Unfortunately, being in Australia, we never got a PAL release, so I wasn't even aware of it. I've tried multiple times to get an emulator working of it in Project 64, but it just always crashed.
However, I did manage to score a rip of it for PC, which ran quite smoothly. And I have very fond memories of playing it in my more teenage years. I am heart broken I will probably never get to experience it on Nintendo 64.
You could buy a flash cart to play it on hardware that way?
Waaaay too expensive from what I've seen. As much as I would love too, it would be hard for me to justify such an immense cost.
I've been an Indiana Jones fan ever since I was a little kid. I had the PC version back then and some of my best childhood memories are playing through this game with my dad and my brother, though I never beat it. Last year I bought the N64 version and played through it again and finally after 14 years, I beat the game. This is my favourite N64 game and one of my favourite games ever. The Indiana Jones trilogy (Crystal Skull doesn't count because it sucked) are my favourite movies and this game felt like playing an Indiana Jones adventure. The story is great and, unlike games today where you can beat them in a few hours, this game could take up to 30 hours to beat. I will never be Indiana Jones, but this game made me feel like I was him. What a great game!
11:29 Jar jar binks 12 o'clock! I never noticed that Easter egg until now.
My brother and I first bought this game on the PC. Unfortunately, we didn't realize our graphics card was out of date and we could not afford a new card so... Thankfully the game was ported to the N64 so I only had to wait one year to play it. It came out right when my school went on Christmas break so I was glued to my TV for hours! Even though the controls were frustrating at times, I still loved this game and played it a bunch as a child. I'm sure it has aged poorly, but for it's time It was a great game! It's definitely the best Indiana Jones story dealing with Soviets and Aliens........
I bought this title around the time it came out, but I cannot remember if I bought it new, or if it was a loose, pre-played title at Blockbuster. Never played through the whole game, but will definitely give it another shot soon. Great review!
Wow this is a big nostalgia for me. I played this all the time as a kid and couldn’t really get past the 1st or 2nd level, but I still loved it.
I didn’t know that it wasn’t really available. I’m guessing we picked it up from blockbuster and didn’t return it on its deadline because I remember having it for a long time.
The spiders in this game absolutely terrified me as a kid. It made it really hard to play and progress thru
Ha yeah it’s one of those titles that gets progressively better the further you go into the adventure
I didn't even realize this had those jeep, mine cart, and rafting segments - the puzzles need a lot of patience and time in the earlier levels.
Yeah it starts to get real tough in the sanctuary onwards
I remember ordering this from lucasarts website and checking the website daily for more info. I had never played the Zelda or Lara croft games so it was a whole new type of game for me. I might just have to go dig out the N64 and Fire this one up. I love how factor5 always put at least one secret unlock able mission at the end of a game. They also did this with the Rogue Squadron games. They took such pride in their work and created amazing games capes. I miss them more than old rare. Thanks for the vid.
nthierwechter i miss them too, such a waste of a great studio :(
Never realised this actually released, this might be the first game I play when the Analogue 3d comes out.
On waiting to buy one minute they’re available too
Decided to finally start playing my copy Ive had for years.
Only downside is since the expansion pak is running the high res mode, on the Ultra HDMI mod, the interlacing artifacts are noticeable.
I guess I may have to find the jumper pak to play with the 240p mode?
There doesn’t seem to be a toggle to turn it off.
The main thing is that you’re playing this! But why aren’t you playing the new Xbox game it looks amazing!!
@ I dont have a console that can run the new one. I still only have up to PS4 and Xbox One.
I have this game. I've had it for over ten years. I'm gonna have to get an N64 and play it asap
Hope you enjoy it
I never even knew this existed, it looks amazing!
This game was always rented out at Blockbuster, and then was off the shelf suddenly. Looks pretty good, about $30-35 isn't bad so I might pick it up.
Pimpalicious1987 i think thats fair if you can get it for that price, id say anything up to 60 would still be good
***** It's no wonder it was always rented out now, I didn't know it was only in Blockbuster stores(or mail-order).
The sequel, Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb looks pretty interesting also and is on GOG for 6 bucks.
It's a good game I loved emperors tomb
I always remember wanting to play this game when looking at it through Nintendo Power. I had no idea it wasn't readily available in stores. I might have to pick this one up and give it a play.
It's worth it trust me - quite a challenge too
Definitely one of my favourite games on the N64. I actually bought it from blockbuster and didn't rent it. Blockbuster probably wanted to sell it since no one was renting it, due to it not being popular. I guess I just lucked out!!! Anyway great review and new subscriber:)
In short, This game is amazing. I remember playing this on PC with my cousin and being disappointed that the N64 version was never released here. Factor 5 apparently had some amazing custom microcode to make the game run so smoothly in high-res mode. On top of that, the lighting, animations and facial models are some of the best on the system. Best of all, Now I can play the PAL version on an Everdrive! It's been a long while since I've been this excited about any N64 game.
It may not look much these days, but this game was a technical masterpiece for the 64.
The PC version of this was the first video game I ever played. I played using a wingman extreme joystick, which made the controls a lot better than trying to play with the keyboard. I also love the graphics on the PC version, I guess just because that's what I grew up with. A few years ago for my birthday my brother got me the n64 version, and i love it, just not as much as PC. My biggest complaint is you need the memory expansion to play the mine cart level, which was my favorite on PC. I didn't have the memory expansion the first time playing on n64, so I picked one up specifically for it.
I had the PC version as a kid. I still love it today. In my opinion, it's better than the next game they released, Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb.
See I quite liked emperors tomb! Got it on my Xbox on launch day it came out
I thought Emperor's Tomb was good, I just preferred Infernal Machine. Felt that it had a stronger ambiance of mystery. I recognise the logo you use. I used to read that magazine back in the day. Were you a journalist for it?
Emperor's Tomb had the better controls and graphics. Infernal Machine had the better puzzles and story.
Thanks for the great retro review. Been watching your videos religiously ever since I found them on Retroware a while ago. Keep up the good work, and never stop!
In regards to Indiana Jones, I remember playing the PC release back in the day. I managed to get a "special" copy of it from a neighbor. I was really surprised how well this transitioned to the N64. I was really impressed how much the N64 could achieve, especially with the expansion pack.
Layr9639 thanks i certainly won't plan on stopping until everything n64 id finished :)
In the pal version, at least, the mine cart levei is locked without the expansion pak. Also overall sound quality takes a hit without it. Sometimes the old Blockbuster rental carts can be found in reasonable prices, and this one is really worth to look for.
no matter how you play it, its still very fun :)
AVGN just made a little monday video playing this game. They sucked at it and called it a rubbish game.. They did not even make it passed the first level.. I love James and Mike, but they just suck at playing N64 games..
Yeah, I watched that. that was my first view of the game. that poison thing did genuinely seem like bs.
+Ben Shearer Well I've never seen the game being played before and saw it in like ads in a PC magazine back in the day, but even I could tell he was poisoned. Three guys playing a game and none figured that out was kind of bizarre, especially having played so many games between them.
so true they never do well with n64
They are just so used to the 2D games of old, that their brains have not evolved to comprehend 3D envionments.
But, you can easily do a funny first impressions video without outright mocking a game that doesn't deserve it. Plus, why go for a Game Grumps sort of thing, when they should be going for a James and Mike sort of thing?
I remember looking forward to this game & was gutted when it didn’t end up coming out here 😢
Yeah the curse of late releases hey!
@@n64glennplant definitely
first time played 16 years ago, still play it from time to time, probably one of the best game I ever played! Totally recommend this!
I didn't even know about this game until I came across your review. I purchased the game from amazon for $42 and so far am loving every aspect. It gives the tomb raider feel--which I played on the ps 1 way back in the 90s. Overall, an excellent game and a wonderful review.
This is truly a great game and to me it proves that they could have put the Tomb Raider games on the n64 because the environments in this game are just massive. It's still my favorites of all the Indiana Jones games and one of the best N64 games in my opinion.
Got it when it came out on PC. Since it was bought it was the only game that was played on the old PC until we beat it. It was that good.
I had (and still have) the PC version. It used to be my favourite videogame. Thanks for this video!
Btw, the PC version does feature falling rocks when you climb up a wall.
It was a very good game on PC back than. Holds up very well the direct competition with "Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation". I remember my dad both them both. Each takes me around moth to finished. Almost every level in "Infernal Machine" presented the new location in variant countries. So many secrets and challenging jumping puzzles. Shooting mechanic wasn't so great on keyboard though. But nether is in "The Last Revelation".
It's a shame that N64 port was delayed so much and Dreamcast port has never been in plans.
i have a rental copy it still has all the stickers from block buster. i got it about 3 years ago for around £10 but i also had to buy a NTSC N64 to play it on. lol
All n64s are region unlocked. Just remove the plastic loading tray and the NTSC cart will fit in a PAL system.
I never played this game, even on emulators it doesn't run, but after seeing this video i can't wait for a opportunity to play it.
That's right, good ole lucasarts games were tricky! One of the reasons I don't like emulation
***** that's true, but it was because of emulation that i've got to know the n64 and it's games, and what made me buy the console, i didn't have it when it was new.
This doesn't look that bad for a N64 game pretty impressed!
It was made to squeeze as much power from the console. There were even more improvements with the lighting.
When i was young I remember spending a few months trying to complete this on the PC, I loved it. think i'll give the emperor's tomb a go.
This game brings back a lot of great memories. I bought this game at blockbuster when they were selling off the older titles to bring in newer games. The only problem I've ever had was this game freezing every once in a while.
This game is amazing and I am sure Tomb Raider could have been ported to the N64 but it must have cost a lot of money and time.....sad it never happened but we got this amazing game.
I borrowed this game(PC) from a friend as a kid. The game was already quite old at that time, but man did it blew my mind! The game kept crashing on me but that didn't keep me from playing it non-stop. My parents got quite annoyed after a while of constantly hearing the crackling Indiana Jones theme every time the start up menu would load.
I loved the Indiana Jones movies, and I liked them even more due to this game. Maybe it's the reason why I like to wear a fedora today ;)
This is a game that I knew very little about until watching this review, probably because of its limited release. I remember being turned off of Indiana Jones games after not liking the one on the NES, but this one might be worth tracking down.
Game Devs: Aliens?
Lucas: No! I’m saving that for my amazing 4th movie!
Devs: Fine, I guess we’ll have to do something people will like instead…
Haha I know right!
Great review as usual, always enjoy your N64 reviews. Never played this game on the N64 but played it on the PC and loved every minute of it. I know I played it at least 3 times and wish I could play it on Windows 7 or 8 but it wont. I feel that this is the best Indiana Jones game ever made.
cardman1031 ohh its a tough one, i think id still side with fate of atlantis however i have some major nostalgia for that title
I had no idea this game even existed! It looks like it would have been really fun.
I not only have this game but I have the blockbuster players guide which is pretty rare.
I grew up with the PC version, and a few years ago got the n64 version. On the PC, controlling with the keyboard isn’t great. But with a proper joystick (I used a Logitech wingman extreme digital 3D) it’s actually very easy to control
Yea I never heard of this before. Thanks! That is weird as hell that the only way to buy it was through the publisher's website.
N64 was an awesome System shame it didn't have that long a lifespan especially here in the uk 1997-2001.
Gee, that UI sure looks familiar... I wonder where I've seen it before...
