      there's nothing that looks like this. Not that I've seen. I've seen children absolutely menaced in films, chased up the stairs by a madman but it wasn't as bad as this.

    I know this film has a lot of controversy surrounding it (you either were terrified of it or thought it was boring.) For me, it was a master class in building tension and dread. I saw it in theaters alone at a 9:30 PM showing. For a good majority of the movie, my shoulders were pulled up to my ears, my stomach was knots, and my breathing was shallow and quiet. When the actual scares did come, they were quick and unexpected (leaving me on edge not knowing when it was okay to relax.) The whole thing was like a movie version of having sleep paralysis or night terrors. The sound design, the analog horror feel of the whole thing, the static filled darkness playing tricks on your eyes. For me, they all worked as intended and left me feeling uneasy long after the film was over and I was back at home.

    • @_willandjack

      Watching this alone in a theatre must have been insane!

    • @MISTERBABAD00K
      @MISTERBABAD00K Год назад +4

      @@_willandjack it felt oppressive. It felt like I was trapped. There were maybe 12 other people in the theater, but it was dead silent. No one stirred. No one got up to use the restroom. We all sat there, transfixed on the screen, afraid to make a sound. When it ended and the lights came up, there was an audible exhale from all of us.

    I’m a single dad of 3 amazing daughter’s that are my life and my middle daughter has hd these horrific night terrors that used to have her comming into my bedroom horrified bawling in hysteria asking to sleep in my bed. She’d climb in and be shaking , I’d stay awake till she fell asleep becasue I was worried about her. I’ve since experienced sleep paralysis and I think that’s what she was experiencing because it feels so real, she’d tel me about her nightmares the next day in the light and they were terrifying to me as dad even, so seeing these children as a dad and the terror they are experiencing does something to me, it hurt inside seeing these 2 hurt and fear , takes me back to my Angel and the fear she’d feel , so this movie true disturbs me ina. Way no other film has. The demon telling him to put the knife in his eye and him doing it bieng forced to somehow just kills me and worse when he says to dispatch he did it and feels really sick.seeing the dad in the bedroom and being so scared to talk to him jsut makes me pray my kids don’t ever experince these types of nightmares but they do. My baby daughter is 5 now and I’m praying she doesn’t get those terrors. Wild movie!

    As a single dad of daughters , one that was nightly tortured by the most terrifying nightmares she thought were real she’d come into my room every night bawling asking to sleep next to me. It want until jsut a few years ago thst experinced my first and second sleep paralysis shadow figure awake and seeing but frozen while it was trying to hurt my daughters . The ext day he wandered if it was sleep P my daughter was experiencing and why so realistic and terrifying .
    Watching this m it flashes me back to being a child teryvied I the night and looking at the stars so scarily BUT the way this hit me hardest is hearing the daughter and seeing the fenibtook her face and moth away , very much like my said er rd nightmares. Hearing the demon tell the boy to put the nude in his eye and then when the guy says heal feels sick, blood loss , it jsut hit me in a protective dad way that makes me bee to go check in my girls .

    I can always count on your reactions being so genuine, and even in scary moments, refreshingly hilarious.
    This film reminds me a lot of night terrors, at least ones I've had when I was very young. Recurring, vague, dark, confusing, but in a familiar place like my own home. Just ... it is so much more eerie with those kinds of memories plaguing me. It's what makes this so new as a horror movie because ... it feels like a memory, a bad one made from a developing mind that has yet to understand the world. The angles reminiscent of being small and defenseless, the darkness forcing your eyes to make up images for you, and the sounds something you're not sure what to make of. Is it good, bad? As a kid, I always was (and still am) conflicted by muffled sounds through the walls, never truly knowing what's been done or said. In my night terrors I was always lost in more ways than one, despite being home. And this film captures that terror perfectly (especially the eyes of the stupid phone toy; eyes always chased me in those repeating nightmares I had).
    There's an older film that has to do with being confusing, but at least has a plot to follow. The Cell, where people link up their minds to a serial killer's to try and pinpoint where his victims are in the real world through his nightmarish mind. Gross, confusing, scary is the best summary I can come up with for it if you want to try it out. I cannot remember how bad it got though, so maybe it is worse than I remember and just wanted to block it out.

      that's good. I was reading a theory by a film theorist and he thought the child was in a coma and that's why it was so long. He thought Dad was the first one to stop visiting, then mom killed herself and then the sister stopped coming. Oh and that cartoon held all of the plot if you see both of them in full.

      Me too. I feel like I'm drunk or something reading and hearing all the praise for this film. Like I missed something.
      I just found myself really pissed off at my time being wasted by the end of it. What was really distracting too was the digital film grain filter that they used just kept looping the same grain structures every couple of seconds and I was just bored enough to notice something like that.
      I've listened to 10 hour rainfall asmr videos that have more going on plotwise than this film ever does.

He talks about the child being in a coma as the result of a tumor and that's why he's sleep walking and whatnot. I slept walked a bunch as a kid and had that shit every night, Fuck maybe I have a tumor. Anyway take a look, its very interesting: ruclips.net/video/HhSNbKezP64/видео.html

    Personally thought it was quite a scary movie, but it's a lot of nothing, too. I've never actually screamed as loud as with that damn telephone, though and watching a lot of theory videos adds a LOT (like the upside down chair was a disguised entity looking down on the kids). If you haven't already, you should watch the original short film called 'Heck' (and the creator's other very atmospheric, yet very eerie videos when you're at it). It tells a similar story, although way more condensed.
