I work at a Mcdonalds. Sometimes I look at myself, and feel bad for not doing enough in this world, or doing something more. But, then I hear about a lot of people that don't work, and just mooch off of others. I literally have to remind myself that at least I am doing something, and am able to mostly take care of myself despite still living with parents. I am still learning, and am trying to gain the skills to move up further in this life.
Keep pushing! So many of the most fulfilling lives have humble beginnings.

In early episodes he was basically a grouch who acted mean to Spongebpb and got comeuppance for being mean. In later episodes he just got beat up by the world around him when he didn't do anything wrong. Compare Jellyfishing to Good Neighbors, for example.
In Jellyfishing he was a jerk to Spongebob, acted snooty towards them, tried to put them in a dangerous spot that inevitably put him in the same position, SpongeBob later apologizes for what happened to him, and Squidward at one point did get a leg up.
In Good Neighbors, literally all Squidward wants is to read a newspaper but SpongeBob prevents him from letting him enjoy his day, and Squidward ends up getting punished for something that wasn't his fault
As an artist trying to get recognized by others, I really do understand this feeling of trying to impress people. But not until I sometimes forgot that I’m drawing for myself. Seeing this video really help me understand my own validation as an artist, and thank you for that :)

I'm a writer and I'm working on a book, trying to finish it. I keep thinking to myself, "Oh, this chapter's too long." "Oh, they won't like that.", "Oh, this is cringy." I agree that you should draw (or write) for yourself, but not only for yourself. You have an audience. It's hard to keep the balance of writing for yourself and writing for others. It's hard to get both you and your audience to enjoy the work. But at the end of the day, its your work and no one can take that away from you. Keep doing what ur doing. All of you!
Me too!!!! I never cared about likes on a post, comments or followers.. Especially when I use platforms like Instagram or tiktok or whatever. I used to be obsessed with likes of comments but then I stopped because my art isn't worth likes and comments. Its worth the hard work I put into it.
I can relate to this. As a kid, I was bullied a lot by popular kids at school. I tried to be like them and I thought they'd like me if I did. I didn't feel like myself. I felt embarrassed and the way they treated me never changed.
I then realized that I don't need to be like the cool kids or popular to feel good about myself and be a good person.
I realized the same thing my friend. I too tried, but it was all meaningless. All in vain. No matter what I did to impress them, they still took advantage of just shamed me. I was a puppet. Now that I look back, I am ashamed for changing myself, but lately I’ve just come to discover and accept who I truly am. I asked myself the questions Uncle Iroh asked Zuko. Who am I and what do I want? I also added what do I like? When you do that, write down a list of answers that truly speak to you. Then read it everyday and stick to it. You don’t have to tell it to anyone because even your closest friend could discourage you. Keep it to yourself and then express it. Oppose ANYONE who tells you not to do what you love, or love a certain activity, or want something in life.
Ever since I was a kid, I always have a sense of empathy and pity toward Squidward. He has such a miserable life and sometimes it is such a pain to see it.
My girlfriend has recently cheated on me with my bestfriend of 6 years... so life had been really hard. Your videos have helped me through alot tho. Thank you man.

The Movie Whiplash is a great example of the Toxic pursuit of Validation and Toxic self-improvement. Where a student is pushed harder and harder to perform beyond his abilities to the point where he becomes not only burned out but also depressed, and that depression drives the student into the desperate urge to improve, not just for the betterment of himself but in a chase to seek validation from the professor. School becomes toxic when your pursuit of improvement is driven off of seeking validation from the teacher and not for your own self-love, so at least try the best you can muster, but don't go too high to the point where you crash down.
This guy takes kids shows that seem so dumb to the point of being entertaining and turns them into some of the best life lessons you won't hear anywhere else

This reminds me of the episode of _Regular Show_ called _Fancy Restaurant._ Muscle Man was trying hard to be someone he isn't to impress starla's parents. When Mordecai said "just be yourself, dude". Muscle man replied "myself sucks!". But then he started to be himself and he ended up getting on really well with her parents. Btw, your music choices are very good
Actually, he ended up figuring out her parents were putting on a facade too! It's a really good take on how the people you meet, some are doing the same thing you're doing to feel included so it's just better to be yourself and you'll attract like minded people.
Squidward is relatable for the majority of americans and I can respect how he feels. I am just as unenthusiastic about my job but I just accept it and make sarcastic remarks from time to time to cope. I am a squid and you are a squid, but the sponge is an unrealistically happy sponge!
Not just only in America, but all around the world as well.

This speaks to me. I always wanted to seek validation to be respected by others as I see them always in a high position compared to me, but if I learned anything, we are all equal with our own skills.
I have a small business and I can’t wait until the day that I make enough income with my business to quit my job. All I want to do is make jewelry. I hate working in a call center even though I work from home. My life wasn’t suppose to go this way.

Good luck on the business, I'm in the same boat with freelance writing, but I gotta ask you why you believe your life wasn't "supposed" to go a certain way? What kind of expectations did you have? The high expectations that statement comes from is a massive trap. Truth is, everything happened the way it should have and the only thing and I mean ONLY thing that matters are the decisions you make RIGHT NOW.
Remember this: Past decisions create the present. Decisions you make in the present day create the future. Decide not to decide, and you'll be a leaf in the wind forever.
I bet if if Squilliam just went into the Krusty Krab just how it is and had a krabby patty, he would’ve fallen in love. That would show fanciness doesn’t equal happiness. Sometimes it’s the simplest things that count the most. And Spogebob puts so much heart into making those.

I think part of it too is recognizing That not everyone is motivated the same way or interested in the same things

Everyone hates on Squidward for being a jerk to SpongeBob and Patrick but, in reality is a projection of a person that exist in real life. So is Squilliam. Squidward is a Narcissist who tries so hard to be like Squilliam and Squilliam is a Narcissist who is obviously faking everything just to purposely make Squidward jealous. We have that in real life. People are too busy wanting validation and wanting to follow trends just so they can be "hip and cool" and be popular rich and famous. They've forgotten how to be themselves.
Squidward was so misunderstood back then but so iconic and now the world relates to him on a deep personal level.
I’ve spent most my life in a chase for validation due to feeling embarrassed/depressed and feeling jealous of others which has impacted my mental health but things have gotten much easier as an adult. It’s best to focus on what’s most important and stop worrying about things you thought were important
In a way,Sqiudward( mainly )in Band Greeks and this epsiode,Sqiudward trys to be better than Squiliam,cause he's more "richer",and "cooler" and leads Sqiudward to wanting everything to be prefect in Band Greeks and this epsiode,cause he just want to be as sccuessful as Squilliam,and want to be appreicated by Squiliam. ( and to keep everything brief. )
Basically while also being Validation,can also be a form of stinking thinking from Sqiudward.( but moral of the story: *just be you* )
This video is a great reminder. Growing up, I thought that to make friends, you have to please people. That's what I did, but it didn't work. If your only purpose in life is to please people, you won't be able to fulfill your own desires. Instead, you'll just be used as a doormat. It's great to care about others, but not care about everything they say. You should think about what you think is best for you, not them. They are not the ones that live your life, you are.
This is something that I constantly need to remind myself as I'm trying to grow on RUclips and as a person. It's hard when society teaches us that we need to be popular to be successful, but in the end of the day, we need to remind ourselves that we need to be happy with ourselves while striving for better.
I think this is super good lesson and video tbh, because I recently left a server I was super unhappy in (wasn't the first time I left too) and ever since I left I've been super motivated to draw especially, and I seriously think it's because I used to wanna get praise and attention from that group of people so badly for some reason, but ever since I left and have been specifically showing my art to the people who actually love and enjoy it I've been happier and been drawing a lot. So yeah, the constant seeking of validation from someone isn't a good idea, you'll just end up unhappy

This was nice! I didn't think Spongebob episodes could be used to discuss deeper life concepts. I agree with the points & arguments made in this video. It's a very human thing to crave external validation but I think it's when we learn to appreciate that it isn't everything that we begin to live our lives more authentically.
This channel really gets it. People really need to stop relying on other people’s validation’s and just be themselves. It is a good thing when you do get it, but you shouldn’t care what others will say or think about you because at the end of the day, YOU control your own destiny. Not random people you don’t know or care about. We all have a dream job we want to have, and you will get there eventually, but you won’t until you believe in yourself, and not rely on other’s for their validation.
I remember watching this episode when I was a kid. I didn't realize how true of a message this truly was until my college years. Thanks for reminding me man. Keep it up with the insightful content.

I think you got it spot on that both squidward and squilliam are chasing the same validation. I like the idea that they are exes and have some beef lol but if you really think about it just the way squidward acts when questioned of “what have you done with your life?” By someone who is not only publicly respected and followed(as shown by his band of followers that will laugh when he laughs, and only when he laughs) but someone who also personally acts like they are extremely comfortable with themselves and their life. Squilliam has everything squidward has ever wanted, a successful recognized art career, big house, fans, etc but squilliam still craves the attention of squidward because squidward has things squilliam wants too like friends, an honest life, and probably even squidward’s talents. I’ve met artists that I was jealous of because of the way they paint or how their art comes out, and after getting to know them, they’ve admitted that they were jealous of my artwork too. Which in turn I told them about my jealousy because I genuinely believed they were way better artists (I still kinda feel that way). And I think squilliams emotions towards the end when he talks about how he was just trying to impress squidward are genuine, and he cops out last second because he still wants squidward to think he is just better off because he’s rich. I believe the main reason he freaks out and faints in the episode where squidward performs at the super bowl halftime show is because of the very fact that squidward now has everything squilliam has and wants. Squidward has friends who care so much about him that they want to give squidward this opportunity to shine and be proud of it, and it’s too much for squilliam to bare because now squidward, in his eyes, is more successful and happier than he’ll ever be.
I wish that the writers of SpongeBob expended on this theory.

Another maybe unknow detail, but the whole waiter and not remembering his name scene in this episode is also a nod to a french philosopher, he wrote about the concept of social roles, being and “characters” people adopt in different situations after watching a waiter working in a cafe, he realized that person was not himself but a waiter, his whole mind and body was existing at that moment just to act as a waiter and not himself.
interesting. some how aspiring actors in Los Angeles who work as waiters are a mystical force of nature subdued because I pay to eat there? Everything about work seems like it has a secret about life itself now.
I think Squidward had a dead end job because he never had the right career for him. Ever since he left high school, Squidward wanted to reveal his musical talent to the world but he failed. Squidward would never live up to others. That is why Squilliam treats him like that because we have to find out who succeeds and who fails.
And you know I think the reason Squidward fails at music is because he's trying to be something he's not.

I really love this channel, it really makes me realize and appreciate how well the lesson is delivered and written, even though I watched these episodes countless times even from the past, I didn’t actually stop to think outside of the box other than appreciating how well the comedy is delivered or how the characters are made and behave, and some jokes I was too young to understand. With the episodes being dissected or thought about, it suddenly a lot more effective, I wish I could notice it more and not just feel like “Haha Patrick beats up a hat rack” but undeniably Patrick is my favourite character in that episode so I doubt I could resist laughing at his antics either way.

Squidward hasn't realised that escaping the loop is an option.
I read a blog saying that Squidward is the worst person to be. You’re not get the attention you want, but your narcissism is ignoring the obvious facts. The blog also said that he could have been a great writer if he focused on that. He has excellent vocabulary and wordplay. The problem is he wants to be the center of attention, which is obviously not for him. He writes an amazing play, but he wants to be the main actor. He writes a song, but he wants to be the singer. He does choreography and bombs it, but I believe if someone else would have done it, it would have succeeded. He sucks at playing the clarinet, but he can lead a f*cking band? People like Squidward need to re-evaluate their lives and realize they could definitely shine behind the scenes. You don’t always have to be in front of the camera.
Squidward is in his 40s and is delusional to the point where he tries to become a great and famous clarinet player repeatedly and can't acknowledge that he suck at it and won't give it up to pursue something else.

We're not dead, don't waste your time doing nothing but self deprecating bullshit. You can save that for when we're dead in hell or the void or wherever we end up. For now, if there's nothing worth living for, just do something stupid or fun cause there's no tomorrow. This world has no hold on you if there's nothing good here anyways, so just make something fun happen around you. Maybe you'll start enjoying yourself. Force it to change. There's no downsides if there's no upsides to life. Just wing it. You can't have fun when you're dead, no matter what religion you believe in. There's no true freedom in any of them.
