I looked it up, because GOD I wished it did come from boxing. But nope, pep comes from pepper apparently, as in black pepper. People in the old days (~1800s) used black pepper for energy. Needlessly to say I was severely disappointed :/.

Gionn Caomhin Morpheagh they did a movie on the great Roberto Duran yet nobody can replicate Duran’s slick movement and insane boxing ability. They should make a movie about pep. The man survived a plane crash and continued to box at the highest level.

Especially, listen to listen to Willie Pep in his interviews, as an older gentleman, he was sharp as a whip. He did not get hit much.
