    I worked for a well company driving a pipe truck. It hauled 21 cement pipes enough for two wells. I had to back the truck up against the boring rig so we could set the pipes in the well. I backed the truck up to the rig at least 50 times on other jobs but this one setup was "on a slope," and it was muddy. I couldn't get it in position, Gene the operator got mad at me, tried it himself and couldn't get it right so we settled for a mediocre setup. Kroikee!

    Salut Jpaydirt ! Yes, it's true, it's quite painful to watch, thinking of the exasperation that must be building up inside you after so many failed attempts !
    In France, we don't have this type of carrier/trailer, so we don't have this kind of problem ! All our trailers are loaded from the rear, the machines climb up ramps. Of course, in winter the ramps can be frozen, so you have to be careful too ! I remember a CAT 325 that slipped off the edge of the ramp and landed at the bottom of a ditch ! Outch !

    • @richardlincoln8438
      @richardlincoln8438 8 месяцев назад +1

      It is true, some days are a lot better than others. Years ago we had an operator slide a crawler-loader sideways off a frost covered trailer. It landed on it's side and didn't even break any of the glass. The fluids that leaked out of everything You could imagine was a incredible mess. Good times.

    Watching you struggle to get reattached I was thinking if it was me I’d have used a chain and the hydraulics of the excavator to help pull the truck under. I’d probably break something.

      Even with a hydraulic neck have had use the machine to get the neck hooked back up to the trailer after it sank a little bit in the snow. Also have chased a mechanical neck trailer across a icy landing trying to get back under it.

  • @smckinney3mckinney141
    @smckinney3mckinney141 8 месяцев назад +2

    Yes ,that was painful. Having a Mechanical Gooseneck does have it's disadvantages.
    My Dad had a Mechanical gooseneck Siebert for his Business. we ran into this situation to, we carried some small blocks of wood 6x6's 4x4's 2x4's. what you can try next time you can't quite get back underneath the trailer when loaded. we would have to back under it until the trk spun & stopped, block up underneath the trailer , pull out and get another run, most times that worked, and we could lock into the 5thwheel .
    I hope this helps.. Btw, what brand of trailer is this and the Capacity ?

  • @dplant8961

    Hi, Jpaydirt.
    Yep, yer right, it IS painful to watch - just one more reason why pretty much EVERYTHING in DowNunda - Australia and New Zealand - loads over the back on ramps. There are single section ramps and what are commonly called 'bi-fold' ramps that are in two sections which lower and lay themselves out automatically as they lower.
    No disconnecting any re-connecting multiple times just to load or unload one machine.
    Thanks for the entertainment.
    Just my 0.02.
    You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

    Some days just go that way. We were using my excavator removing trees and stumps around a pond on Saturday. I told the operator who is still learning to watch the hydraulic lines and keep the trees as far away from the machine as possible to avoid snagging a line or damaging the machine. Well 1 minute later the hydraulic line for the boom was ripped off. Ugh. Oh well just fix it and move on!
