It's easy to forget a jacket when you have spent a few hours being spoilt. It was good of them to bring it to you. Well done on even finding the almost hidden lounge.
Thanks for your comment, it's much appreciated, the staff up there were brilliant, possibly because there was so many of them to customers. The hidden lounge, just made me think I should have called it Al Mourjan - the "Secret" Garden. Missed a trick there 😊
I got downgraded to from gold because I guess I had booked economy.First leg had a obnoxious steward second leg was wonderful to Bangkok Thai lady was marvellous
Thanks for your comment, I agree with you, probably my favourite too. I thought about titling this the "best lounge in the world?" and framing the video as answering that question but I don't think I've got enough business lounges to compare it to.
@@mygreygapyear probably fair for myself to make that comment of I’ve not seen enough but I just can’t see anything can beat it. The service is amazing, food great. Sleeping could be better. Trying Etihads flag ship next month, usually prefer one world carriers but Etihad had some great deals that’s couldn’t be ignored
Another great video. I've been lucky enough to visit the 3 major lounges at DOH (Al Safwa, Al Mourjan and the Garden), and actually prefer the garden over the other two even with the Al Safwa being a 'first class' lounge. I must admit, though, that those seats right up against the railing overlooking the garden can be quite uncomfortable as they get direct sunlight and not enough air conditioning, so fairly hot. The food was great, and the service just as good as you described.
@@mygreygapyear it's a really nice lounge, and I only got in because Qatar Airways calls their regional business class First Class, but it's still an excellent space, just that I prefer the Al Mourjan garden lounge.
You got lucky, I was in this lounge in the evening a couple months ago and from 5pm onwards it was rammed! Great lounge though, my favourite of the big 3 at Doha.
Super review and enjoyable video. Thank you! I agree that The Garden is crazy hard to find, that the Vuitton lounge is mad (and I've only ever seen 2 local chaps in it just once on my trips through, with very very bored staff) and that the staff are super. There were little teepee tent things on the ground floor of the garden last time I went through with people sleeping in them - the poor fliers with no lounge access.
I can't wait to hear about it, now I've been there a couple of times I feel like I know my way around, but I'm sure I'd get lost if I went again 😂 I hope you have the trip of a lifetime, Phil
@@mygreygapyear It's funny, I'd seen some posts about the difficulty in finding the lounge. However, when I got off the transit train (last October) and headed down one level (I think), I saw signs straight ahead for C22-26, C50-65 and Al Mourjan Lounge Garden. There was also a 'Joe & The Juice' outlet that the directions took me past and I found myself at the lifts to the lounge. Heading for LV might be easier now?
@@peterhastings703 I think knowing what to look for helps significantly. I generally scoff at people who say things like "the is hard to find" thinking how hard can it be, but I genuinely find this airport disorientating. A sign that says straight on could easily be pointing to either side of a duty free shop with one taking you there and another taking you to gate C61 😂
@@mygreygapyear I know! I went to the Garden lounge on my return journey - on the way out, I was leaving from an A gate so I went to the 'old' Al Mourjan lounge. I wandered around the bear for ages trying to find the escalator. I had to ask someone in the end!
Hmm, I wonder if they serve pork at all in Doha. I'm about to film a United Club lounge-hopping video at Chicago O'Hare later this month and can't wait for Daddy Phil to check it out. POOOKE!!!
I didn't really think about whether there was pork served in the airport, but I'm going to guess that they don't and I can't wait to see your lounge review, looking forward to it 😊
It will actually be a year of RUclips on the the 20th August and I'll be releasing an update video on Friday 23rd with a bit of an announcement, so watch out for that 😊
Agreed - Doha has insufficient signage and the layout is not helpful. The new lounge has more showers but the toilet is separate unlike the old lounge which has a toilet as part of the shower cubicle.
Thank you for your question, I may well have said that but this would be incorrect, I'll pin a message with a correction. Whereas it is true that you need a business class or first class ticket to enter (no status holders) it is also available to ticket holders of other Oneworld airlines, including BA. Thanks again, Phil
Quick question….my BA tier points year ends 07/09/24 I’m 40 points short of bronze with a 40+ point trip booked for 01/10/24 do you think a call to BA would allow those 40 points to be added to this year to get me the status after I’ve flown ? As a good will gesture
Thanks for the question, I'd say it is definitely worth a conversation, however the question is how many of these other points did you get after the first of April this year? Those points will count towards your transitional year which ends on the 31st March 2025.
Probably not. But you might get a taste for tier point running if you look at Phil’s other vids and also take a look at Matt’s Planet too. Silver is the sweet spot. Gold is very nice to have. It’s fun achieving the status too😉
@@roybackhouse117 @courtybellaroadmodelrailwa1906 I can also highly recommend @MattsPlanet, Matt Jones is my favourite RUclipsr and his content is first class.
@@courtybellaroadmodelrailwa1906 Yes, it's confusing and no-one is really sure how BA will handle it. However, as Phil says, You've currently got your 'old' membership year running alongside your 'new' year (1 April 2024 to 31 Mar 2025), The tricky thing is that TPs earned after 1 April 2024 could count into your old year (depending on when it ended), but will also count into the new year.
What does bronze get you? From what I gather, not much. Qatar silver is the one world equivalent of BA bronze, Qatar give business class check in, priority boarding, extra luggage, LOUNGE ACCESS, 1 free change of booking… If you’re not flying enough to get to BA gold, it might be worth considering signing up to Qatar privilege club and you can still gain status from BA flights.
Thanks for your question, I got access through my ticket so it was included for me. Regarding buying access I only know what I've read and that it's 350 to 450 QAR. To get an actual price I'd need a ticket that is either business lite or economy which I don't have currently. I will look into that the next time I fly without lounge access.

Loved the spicy paste moment 😂, I like to dilute wasabi with greek yogurt to make a nice veggie or sushi dip, it saves the tears 😂
