I've caught both my pb's on I guess middle size baits. A zoom super could weightless and a senko wacky rigged weightless with a glass rattle pushed in one end. No not micro or nano but still small.. Big fish card about one thing if they aren't fired up and that is a easy meal so they don't use engery
I’ve had the opposite happen as well! Extremely large panfish on 5” paddle tail. Not joking I’ve had an 11” rock bass and 13” yellow bass actually hit a chatter bait pro 5/0 hook with a 5” paddle tail. Caught the rocko in the river and the yellow while northern fishing in boji.
I generally stay below 4 inches max. I routinely catch 5lb bass on my ultralight using 1-2 inch lures like cremes or strike king. Though my pb was a 10lb largemouth on a 1oz 4 inch rattle trap, I still prefer to just fish UL. I like this bait a lot. I'll have to try making one. It looks exactly like what I want. That action is insane.
@@Leadlobotamist ultralight gets bites when nothing else will! Love it when I’m spring crappie fishing catching bedding sows and the bass guys see it and immediately switch to ned rigs lol
Yes, catching a shellfish is special. I think I've caught 3 or 4 in forty plus years fishing in the SE. First one that ever closed up on my bait was when using a plastic worm. It was a solid sized mussel, around a 1/4 lb.. Nate's catch brought the memory back fresh. Love it.
I’m really late but I really think a soft plastic crank bait could be pretty cool with like a thru wire or something and a lip id love to see you try something that is on the line between soft and hard bait making! As always you inspire me like no other. Thanks for being the best!
Nice bait young man, plus I'd like to thank you for the videos here recently. They have given me some mental relief from the stress of dealing with a family member in their last days with cancer. God bless n make em all official!
I follow this channel closer than any other on RUclips. I frequent Big Creek, Saylorville, Hickory Grove, and an occasional trout trip to Decorah. I'm from central Iowa but love any Iowa fishing content. Love ur videos
Honestly my favorite bait of yours in 2024 so far. The details, the action, the hook choice, the o-fish-al making, all perfect. Plus it's a....ONE DAY!!!
Your craft is absolutely amazing, so creative. One of the most stunning fish I've ever caught was a male Brook trout in full spawning colors, would make a gorgeous lure. Other ideas... maybe a cuttlefish or axolotl soft bait, or maybe a hatchetfish subsurface bait. No matter what you make next it'll be a masterpiece. Nice work.
The action on that one day is incredible! The shape reminded me of a late stage tadpole right before they become frogs! And seeing Finn fishing with you was the icing on the cake to end the video! Crazy to think he’s old enough to do that now!
ONE DAY!! ACTION CITY!! Jointed crankbaits are great. I can usually get bit on a Rapala JSR07 and/or JSR05. So cool to catch a PIKE!! Nice Smallie. Anxiety level shot up when added split shot weights then thought it was lost!! Pretty looking baits that is obviously ohfishal!!
You should make a Tiger fish lure, I think that would be an amazing looking lure,(kind of like a real gator gill), some specimens grow to be about six feet long and honestly I think a lure would be amazing,
We had 2-3 days of upper 50’s. We decided to give it a try and we caught 9-10 bluegill on small twister tail grubs. I think we caught one small crappie. I was stoked that we caught anything at all. March is tough with artificial. Waxworms on a hook is about only thing I know to consistently catch them on this time of year if you are a cheater 😊 Great lure!!! In the summer that will be deadly or when the bluegill go on nest
The timing couldn't be better😂. I am literally waiting for an open pour mould I am making to set right now. Inspired by your content I have started making simple lures a few months ago and I love it.
You need to go to the North fork of maquoketa River. There's so much action. Small mouth, sauger, pickerel, white bass. And if you can't catch a fish there's a trout pond close
Probably one of my favorite fish- story One day when I was 16 me and my buddy took his step dad's BMW (I drove because he didn't have a license) and drove it to the mountains, hiked up to a random lake with fishing poles and I caught a nice cutthroat trout. My friend was so scared of fish he couldn't touch it. I have been addicted to fishing from then on. My buddies step dad was furious we took his car especially bc I barely knew how to drive.
My son and I really enjoy watching your videos together. We are actually about to try to start making some of our own soft plastics which somehow led us to a conversation of your carving skills, and a challenge for one of your one-day videos. We watched your no power tools video. How about doing the opposite power tools only no knives no hand carving. Just an idea. Thanks again for your videos on to the next bait.
A ONE DAY IS A FUN DAY!
YEAH
I use more tiny baits than large.
The action is phenomenal!
And yes, I catch large fish on small baits, more than what I thought.

As a fly fisherman you all are finally realizing what we’ve always known…
Happy One Day everyone. Thanks Nate coffee time.
Someone get this man a million subs!
Honey, wake up, the OOOONE DAYs are back in full swing!
I'm glad you chose to make a new set of ultra light baits and putting so much detail into them
Can't wait for the next river side build this year!!!
I LOVE TINY BAITS. LETS GO.
For the same reason you haven’t made a standard crank bait until now is the same reason we all love watching. All the bad ass custom baits
Nice to see you fishing with Fin.
The muddy slow motion swirl with the smallie release was oddly satisfying.
I remember when you met those folks. Did you ever find out what the black spots were?
Loved the clam catch! Also kinda cool to see baits using 2 double hooks like your logo, always great videos man.

That train when he zoomed in on the bait in his truck was amazing

Pretty cool that you’re fishing in Marquette, i’ve fished that same spot a time or two
Increasingly, my favorite part of the videos is knowing exactly where you’re fishing.
Gotta love the Northeast part of your particular state :)
That gnarly pike was official
The black spots are from flatworms often known as flukes. Their lifecycle is interesting and terrifying at the same time.
Yeah, flukes are fairly common when I am in the Midwest too,
Man is just Crankin out the baits!!! Spring has sprung!! Thanks for all the videos recently!
Quality video by a quality channel
Just love it you took Fin out fishing. Nothing like fishing with your son on a nice day!!
Great action on that little bait!
Amazing videos, Great work as always!, You should try to make a soft plastic bubble eye gold fish.
Or a hard bait one would do just fine.
This one has got to be one of my favorites..its awesome looking and the swim action is fantastic...looks like a tiny frog/trout hybrid
The action on this bait is one of your best bud.
I love all these lures, joining the Fish with your Masterpiece community next week 😊
Totally made my day, Nate. Keep it up, the videos rock and the baits are awesome. Love seeing you fishing with Finn… it’s so wholesome:)
I cannot stress enough how enjoyable your videos are to watch! Not even a minute in and my dopamine is rushing.
This is for sure my favorite bait you've ever made. Beyond cool.
Nice bait young man, plus I'd like to thank you for the videos here recently. They have given me some mental relief from the stress of dealing with a family member in their last days with cancer. God bless n make em all official!
This has to be one of my favorite baits hae every made
thank you nate 🙏
24:35 You are ahead! And a great way to make it official.
Humility is an admirable trait.
Ultralight fishing is awesome! I need one of those 😮

Came for the ACTION CITY .. and was not disappointed !!
Totally want that bait, rainbow trout are my favourite!
Honestly my favorite bait of yours in 2024 so far. The details, the action, the hook choice, the o-fish-al making, all perfect. Plus it's a....ONE DAY!!!
Now this is a bait I would buy! Would be a perfect bait for perch fishing here in the finnish archipelago.
that may be the best 2 piece lure action I've ever seen
Honestly it's a great lure. Like way above average.
When the block is flat you can pilot drill the eye socket evenly.
From Southeast Iowa here and grew up going to bloody run, it’s such a beautiful spot!
the action and sound that thing makes is money
I hope you, Marling baits have a wonderful day!
Awesome bait and i see you also have great taste in music. Charley Crockett is the bomb!
WU-WU-WU-HWUNDAY!!
Best bait I've seen you make so far
Crazy to believe Fin big enough to go fishing with you already! Gotta be a great feeling!
Man I’m glad you didn’t lose that bait…gotta say I like it!

That looks like a winner!
A ONE DAY on my birthday thank you for this amazing gift
I'm excited to see how this does. The concept is right up my alley !
The action on that one day is incredible! The shape reminded me of a late stage tadpole right before they become frogs! And seeing Finn fishing with you was the icing on the cake to end the video! Crazy to think he’s old enough to do that now!
That action is amazing for such a small bait. Very impressive. I wish I could do that. Maybe I need your classes.
That little bait had great action . As always great video.
Always a good day when you get home and you find Marling baits has posted
I was searching for new micro lures and bfs set up today. This is just what I wanted for a marlin vid, thank you
At 100% anticipation, small bait goes forth!
What a nice lure !! I ll try to make the same . Watching you from Belarusian 🇧🇾 rivers .
Nice work i love tiny lures, i think perfect size is the size of a wasp.
Man you have inspired me to try my hand at bait making keep up the good work my dude!
I'm hoping to join your Fish with your Masterpiece soon! I just got a bandsaw, and am hyped to see how it helps me make my baits.
Seu trabalho e uma beleza parabéns sou do Brasil 🇧🇷

I loved this one bro. I think it would be a little monster for Flatheads
Your thought process is something to be studied

Very cool and a ONE DAY!!!!
I think I recognize that trout stream. Fun spot.
Cool bait. Slow mo of the fish was cool too.

Great job on this one. It’s amazing how so many large predator species love small prey.

Great action! Super paint job!
So excited to get my bait course subscription dude, it'd be such an honor to collaborate some day 🤘
The Amazing Lee Drip-O-Matic,,,,,😂. Your vid’s are always fun and creative.
Maybe the best action ever on a one day?! Great job once again.
That slow mo release was sic, nice job on the bait Nate
That action is killer
The come on go slow mo taps made it so officially official!
Probably one of my favorite fish- story

Wow finn's getting big great job my friend
Dude by far best action all around in a bait I’ve saw you swim in tank
