    The people in the comments seem to not know what a Kickstarter is or the downside of backing electronics on Kickstarter. This video is obviously not a review. As such, you take everything presented with a grain of salt. I welcome the overview of this upcoming product.

    • @MichaelElsegood
      @MichaelElsegood  Год назад +3

      Well, I personally think that was kind of the point, to ask somebody who isn’t sure what they were doing and ask them to do it. I purposely didn’t title this as an evaluation or review as I knew I wasn’t qualified to tell experts and enthusiasts the fact of life on this product. I did think it was pretty cool though. I’m sure very soon there will be lots of detailed reviews from expert 3D channels ✌️

      @@MichaelElsegood it is just strange that some 'known' RUclipsrs refused to evaluate this device and some have already done videos on the potential of copyright infringements regarding this. I wonder if they asked you because you wouldn't know the market / history! Whilst your video is of great quality, editing / presentation etc.. I think there was a total lack of continuity. Can you confirm that you did print on that machine all the items you showed? or were they sent in the box with the printer?

      “haven’t heard of”…..yet 😉. Well I quite enjoyed the experience, this video was more like a showcase than a review and I’m going to try out 3D printing as a hobby now. I didn’t get to keep the big boy Sota but I kept the mini EC1 machine they sent me. Either way. Even though it’s a prototype it looks rather interesting and the lads working on it seemed to be grinding day and night over it it. Sorry I couldn’t include everything you wanted to see. ✌️

      I can't believe he didn't have some mishaps along the way as every 3d printer has them (and yet none were mentioned. I've been in 3d printing for at least 5 years and none of the RUclipsrs I watch have mentioned it....But that could be because some won't do Kickstarter videos and advertise them to the community as too many have been burned along with their subscribers financially. Their general motto is don't send a prototype only finished items for reviews. (Makers Muse being the most anti-Kickstarter)
      The comment he left "“haven’t heard of”…..yet ", well if all reviews are positive people will soon learn not to trust your reviews and move on. If everything you are "Given" is amazing with no flaws or criticism then it's not worth much as a review.

  • @_MicZ_
    @_MicZ_ Год назад +18

    The video looks more like an advertisement for the Kickstarter than a real user experience, but I guess I'm OK with just finding out what this printer is about.
    The "upside down" printing looks fancy, but I did not catch the benefit of it in this video ?! It's probably inspired by Kralyn3D's Positron printer, who explains that the main benefit of printing this way is that the center of mass is really low, so the printer can be more stable because of this. This printer actually negates this advantage by lifting the whole printer up to accommodate some electronics and filament underneath it...
    The AI part could become great, but it clearly isn't all that impressive yet and possible future updates might never get implemented. Also, the fact that software can make your 3D printing experience better holds true for any 3D printer, not just this one.
    OK, I'm probably being too negative here, so as a positive I can say it looks great and with the door closed it's probably pretty quiet.
    (Although most people print PLA and you probably don't want to print PLA with the door closed)

    • @Dashie23
      @Dashie23 Год назад

      but isn't putting the filament below be better for the low center of mass? Essentially, the bottom of the printer could fix 2 x 1 kg spools of filament.

      Thanks for your detailed comments. It’s always interesting to hear these things.
      Yeah, honestly, it was more of a showcase than a review as this was a prototype filmed a while ago. Obviously I couldn’t show everything so sorry about that. But as an outsider in the 3D printing world I was really impressed in the simplicity of the process for somebody like me. And the AI selfie modelling was pretty impressive considering it didn’t use any other sensors apart from the selfie camera.

    Well, the title of the video didn't include the word "review" so that's fair.
    If this thing's still in beta, I can see why they don't want it actually reviewed.
    Personally, if I had been "optimistic enough" to back this kickstarter, I would be marking the date on calendar when I needed to bail if I didn't see a review by a reputable reviewer.
    Given the endless stream of Ender-3 look-a-likes we see being reviewed, I find it hard to believe that something more interesting wouldn't be accepted for a review, unless Kokoni were asking for unacceptable terms.

      @Tuffmutt077 10 месяцев назад

      To be completely direct and maybe "brutally" honest, "EVERYONE" is such a broad way to call out the social media based 3D Printing reviewers... After reading your comment and before deciding to take the time to reply I made sure to check out your channel to ensure I didnt get a misleading impression of who you are based off your "pick me, pick me" attitude shown here and in your bio. To make this as short as possible without appearing to be an a**hole myself this is how things appear to work for these "rich" youtubers that are sent machines to review.
      1. The machine manufacturer contacts and/ or is contacted by probably 10,000 or more folks a month asking to receive a printer for "review". *(Referring to people who reach out to the manufacturers)* These companies then sit down with their teams (im assuming those that monitor their social media and sales) and they go through the names of applicants, they would already have a pretty accurate list of HIGH interest youtubers in the printing community that post minimum 1-2 times a week, the person makes educational videos set out to genuinely help the community grow, they produce live streams that receive a high amount of participation while live and for the after views aswell as show every step of the machine getting to the actual printing part in extreme detail, they show every single part of the machine close up as well as describe the physical aspects of it. (referring to the YTers that are contacted by the company) these so called "rich" YT reviewers have been making content for years... thats an understatement as most that i personally watch religiously have a minimum of 3 years upwards of 6. A good majority of these reviewers still work a regular job and if they dont they simply rely on their viewers, fans and followers who appreciate their helpful content to keep food on their table and a roof over their head while spending sometimes more than a regular 8 hour days work just getting the best content they can for the community.
      2. As for the "free" printers they receive, these machines are all based upon a contract between both parties that can vary in hundreds of little ways from keeping the machine after review or sending it back. Being paid to do a SHOWCASE versus an actual honest the good, the bad and the ugly review where no money was exchanged. these machine reviews are the 3d printing communities way of doing a commercial to bring interest to their new products without good and bad reviews from these influencers not only would be be purchasing printers based on the biased opinion of the companies but also have not a clue which machine is the right one for you or not.
      what i am saying is that instead of being immature and acting like these companies owe you something start making videos they dont have to be 6 cameras worth thousands, a full tech team and editing team... most YTers started with an iphone and some time on a video editing program after hours posting little 20 minute videos that actually took 3-4 hours to film while only having one printer. YOU CAN DO IT TOO.
      and if you say that you are unable too then i am sorry to say but these are used as a marketing TOOL not a handout. most of the people who recieve them will end up donating them to a local school, a toys for tots like foundation or giving them away to their loyal viewers for supporting the work they do and making what they do possible.
