Back with another USMLE Q+A! In this video, I go over what the best resources for microbiology are. Sketchy Micro makes, in my opinion, the best resource. Lastly, I talk about how studying more can actually lead to a lower step 1 score!

I found the last part sort of discouraging yet very eye opening!

I use Sketchy and First aid for micro as well but as I'm currently studying it for the first time I found Lecturio very useful as well. My medical school gave us Levinson's microbiology and immunology book, which is massive and it took me at least 6 hours to analyze each chapter. Lecturio pretty much summed up everything that I needed to know in a way that I could understand the logic behind each concept. Of course First Aid played a big role as well.

Thanks for the video. I didn't realize there would be a plateau effect.

A friend told me tima ago about Sketchy micro, and I definitely want to use it...but when I sent to Sketchy I saw the also have Sketchy pharm and patho. Have you used them, do they work? Or is too much, and it is only worth it to use this technic for Micro.

Can you make a video about what scores we need to get for specific specialties?
Because you're already in the US and have a inside knowledge of what scores they usually want to see.
I'm a FMG and everyone tells me that I have to get 240+ to have some chance of getting in the neurology residency.

If you look at the NRMP Charting Outcomes, it'll list the specialties and their average step score. You should be near that range.
