A loop knot works better for the gotcha than a swivel. Also reduces cut-offs from Spanish & blues. I’ll be at Oak Island in 3 weeks!! Tight lines y’all!

Look on the teeth on that Spanish mackerel! We tend to think of these as just food for us, but these fish are predators.

Good stuff brother! Enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing your day at the beach with us. Nothing like surf fishing in North Carolina. Peace out!

I also use the sand flea flavor fish bites for surf fishing. The actual sand fleas are impossible to find on most beaches anymore because of beach renourishment.

Yep. Fished at Emerald isle a couple weeks back. No sand fleas to be found.

Used Gotcha plugs rigged up the same way for years off the piers on EI.......Watched Bama Bum and saw him catching spanish in the Alabama surf using Gotcha Diamond Jigs. Picked up some before our OKI trip. 1 oz for 7 foot rods, 1.5 oz for 8 foot. Caught numerous spanish in the surf slinging those the week after July4th week. Waded out as far as we could. Give them a try! Can sling them alot further than regular gotcha's. Pull thru the surf pretty fast. Can slow down for flounder. Good luck!!

Yeah its been hard lately. SW wind making the water dirty in all directions for the past week. Hopefully we can get back out there soon if this wind turns out of the south!

I've never caught a Spanish in the surf. Gotta give it a try. The tiny flounder was unreal.

When you throw them out make sure you have a good leader line so it doesn’t break and twitching really fast helps

Your little baby flounder may have actually been a hog choaker they look like a small flounder and only get about as big as the one you caught.

Dude you know that swivel isn’t the best way to run a plug! Don’t lie to people! If you don’t know how to tie line to line you can always RUclips it!! LOL

I like to use a swivel like I said in the video. There are other ways that you can do it but I prefer the swivel because that’s what I was taught ! It has worked for me for 30 years. Thanks for watching
