Disagree. For fishing for panfish, mono is absolutely fine. Casting distance is overrated, most of these fish are in the wash less than 20 yds from the beach. Also Sputnik sinkers are way overkill in damn near calm flat conditions such as this. For this kind of fishing, holding the rod rather than spiking it is key to hooking fish, and a small 2-3 oz pyramid or even a bank sinker is best.
the fish was an atlantic croaker.....on the other hand the puppy drum or red drum has a spot on their tail.....nice video!

Switch to braid. Cast farther and less lead to hold bottom. Get rid of the triangle lead, switch to Sputnicks.

Southern Kingfish. Caught seven last week. Nice size in an hour. Fish bites bloodworm with 3 ounce pyramid sinker.
