League average is 77.8 on 21.8 attempts per game. Which translates to 16.9 points (round it however you want) versus an 85% FT Percentage which would yield 18.5 points. So it's a difference of more than a point, which is significant.
There are so many comments on this video and other videos talking about how great and how the bad free throw shooters in the NBA should use it. I don't think I have ever seen a current player (casual or serious pro) use it except Chinanu Onuaku and Canyon Barry.
they actually did --> hear the podcast revisionist history - "big man can´t shoot". Shaq said something like "even if my scoring goes to 0% i wouldn´t throw underhand" same goes for wilt chamberlain and some other not so gifted free throw shooters.
Wilt tried it for one season then went back the normal shot, the one season he shot underhanded involved his 100 point game where he hit 20 something free throws and his only year when he shot above 60% from the line
His shot seems a little different ftom Rick's. Rick's free throw always seemed so effortless and controlled. He Stood straight up with hardly any movement outside of a slight knee bend. Canyon seems to put his whole body into it.
It's not an ugly way to shoot. Ugly is when you miss the shoot.
Amen
It still amazes me that NBA players worry so much about looking silly that they wouldn't use a technique which is more efficient than any other shot.
Players - Afraid to embarrass themselves shooting underhand
Reality - Fans cheer when they see players shoot underhand
85% is pretty good.

It's way above average
He looks more like Rick than all the other kids.

Cuz they get bullied out of doing it ...even alot of coaches won't let players do it and would bench them for.doing it
Ben Simmons needs to get this guy on the phone ASAP!!!
I'm sure there would be so many videos of him making it but will never do it in a game
I shoot my free throws underhand like this. This is the way.
If it looks stupid, but works, it's not stupid.
I wish the Barrys taught this to Shaq and Ben Wallace

Andre Drummond: Hold my brick. hahaha

Hanamichi Sakuragi 😅
If you make it don't break it
Awkwardness doesn't matter it's all about consistency

This must piss opponents off when he’s hitting these free throws like that haha
I have perfected the technique shooting on your hand I can hit three pointers this way just has to stop using his legs and body so much
That 80% was a shot at the big bros
maybe Simmons should try this
Shaq should do this !!!
Teach westbrick...
imagine if you miss using this
Nice but im not interested..wkwkwk
