The moment of truth: does the back seat (or hood) still fit? 😬

- Since we shortened the roof 12.5" and had to modify the back window section we're curious if the back seat interior will even still fit. If it does, we'll use it but if it doesn't then I guess we have no choice but to make it a 2 seater. Then we're going to try on the hood for the first time since we repaired the front section. Cross your fingers for us!!! 😬

That updated back window looks so much better now.
Chad I know that you will do it and do it right and I have all the confidence in you that it will be done and done right. Jolene I want to say hi to you and you are doing a great great job with the camera. I wish you all a 3 a blessed evening and night. God bless
I’d leave the back seat out and build a package shelf, and smooth sheet metal below.
Car looks great. Rear window looks much better. No bueno portholes
Lower the hinge itself ,oblong the mounting holes. do not fill the hood.
I totally understand the nickname thing “Dougles “ use them for all my good friends. Btw every Chad I know is known as Chadwick 😉
I think the original red paint with with top will work.
Love this car
How much you wanna bet he has both standard AND metric sockets in that cluterf*** of a drawer?
13mm = 1/2 ,, 14 mm= 9/16,
Fina will like the back seat just fine I bet.
You should have mounted the back of the set first then put the bottom in
That's what I was thinking to.
Why?
WOW, room for Fina and grandchildren.
FINA WOULD LIKE ___ A back seat --- IN the one of a kind prototype ?
They could put a seat in the back and make it a 3 seater. A nice place for Fina to go along with the ride.
FINA will fit just fine in that seat!!
The way that Chad moves into and out from the car - he looks like a 20 year old. Great guy.
I think I would have made some adjustment at the hinge instead of beating the metal
If it was your build you could do it, however, it’s not your deal, so sit back and watch the master at work!!!
Show us how it's done badass
Save the back for a "FINA" seat !👌🐈
your trying to fit hood to fenders Chad. Try fitting fenders to hood. Try using 1/8" spacers to begin. hood center needs to be at or slightly below the front cowel
The hood and deck lid should fit just fine. The seat may have to go. Chad has this under control for sure. Jolene is working her magic with the video. Doug is a great addition to the shop.
The seat looks great ..
What are you talking about? That backseat fits perfectly!
Need to add shims between hinge and bonnet which will lower the bonnet. As the hinges are in a slot, the shim will lower the front of the bonnet and allow the bonnet to open without hitting in the middle front, also the gaps will then be able to be made smaller😊
No, needs to loosen the hinge bolts on the body and lower the hinge, possibly even tip the hinge forward on the body.
@@barrybloggs9474 With cars that have the pocket style of hinges, by adding a shim it effectively lowers the bonnet. Shims were actually fitted as part of the manufacturing process on doors bonnets etc. the hinges where mounted to the car adjusts the height to raise the bonnet, whilst the shims lower the bonnet.
finia now has a ride... that's her area...
Chad,,,,,, that right side bracket, just rim the holes a little longer then you can lower the bracket more. Great job videoing Jolene/ Nice you have Doug helping.
Elongate the holes in the hinges to drop the front of the hood.
Remember Chad , the fit of things were questionable anyway on cars of that era anyway. Nothing was perfect from factory .
Plus he didn't take it apart! Who knows how many shims went where!
Jolene your camera work is truly better than any other TV car show I've ever watched.
Chad and Jolene the Tbird is shaping up most of the cars in the fifty’s and sixty’s the back rest of the seat is installed first and fastened at the bottom then the bottom seat goes in and the interior side panels are mounted in first before the seat goes in
Ovel out the hinge mounts where it bolts to body so u can push passenger side hood down more. To get rid of the hood sticking up...
Or just use some shims! Wherever the people put them when they took em out and moved the car all over the country
This build is firing on all cylinders now. Glad to see the attention to detail and aesthetics.
Its going together, youre fighting 50s Ford build quality or lack of it and somebody else pulled it apart and reassembled it already. Doug is a real handy guy to have around an extra pair of hands that has a clue is awesome.
30 years ago we used to use a BFH and a 2x4 to bend the hood edges. Old Skool .
If you can't fix it with a hammer it's an electrical problem !!
The backrest is supposed to go in first the the seat cushion.
Who told you that?! Maybe in a 70s car or newer
Fina was inspecting the back seat ...she is a good girl never gets in trouble..... Jolene have you.taken a ride in your corrvette yet.that is a very pretty cool car.🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗😁😁😁😁
Fina is going to love her seat. Still a family car. Neat.
You need to have shirts made with some of the things you say. Like “If ya know what I’m tryin ta tell ya” and “ woke up a 7 1/2 lookin like a 10”
I'm liking the addition of Doug, he works well with Chad!
Like the back window now!
DOUG'S a great helper! We love Doug and happy for Chad 🎉
who is we??
@@yeahright302 people who are subbed to bad Chad's channel clown! Nobody cares about your opinion
Thunderbird’s always have a large gap. Especially front hinged hinges
Even British classic cars triumph,Jaguar,MG Aston Martins.
You are good on gap Chad
You can adjust the front clip up, rather than the hood down.
Yup!! Figure that out before you bang on hood anymore.
Looklin' GREAT ! How about black with a silver metallic roof ? Lots of flake !
That's what I think but a lace job. Super fast cheap and totally different then what he does. It would give a whole vibe to it. Then do the wheels in same charcoal color.
Lace accent whould be sweet !
Very good all going well Doug is a very handy chap to have about. Well done with the camera Jolene. I did notice poor Jolene try to give Chad some of advice about fitting the seat which Chad made a joke of, good advice may I say! Cheers from the UK.
contour tool 😂
Just let Bad Chad build his car the way he want to.
Underrated comment
Totally agree. Lots of armchair experts here.
@@nickraschke4737 Lots of fabricators watching here too, don't assume some of us don't know shit....
@@MickH60 and who are these fabricators compared to Chad? Someone who worked in a shed repairing crashed cars? This guy's internationally famous for his work, I'm not American and I know his name. There's a reason he is what he is.
@@jackjfjfjf I am NOT a fabricator. Nor a body man.
Only customized (slightly) one vehicle in my sixty years of life.
So I doubt that my comment will hold even a thimbleful of water with you.
I don't always agree with Chad.
But I do actually like the guy, even though we have never met.
And I have a lot of respect for both him and Jolene.
And I try my damnedest to not criticize his choices and decisions.
That being said...
You are derogatory towards the fabrication people who watch these videos, and sometimes comment.
You act as if... because THEY may not have a TV show, or a RUclips show, or maybe are not famous.. that they are somehow inferior to Chad.
I beg to differ.
Having a show, or being famous, does not make Chad any better...nor any worse... than anyone else who has the same skills and the same OR MORE experience.
You said that you aren't American, yet you knew who Chad was.
I am sincerely happy for you.
Although I don't know what being American has to do with anything.
This old man IS an American, and if it was not for the TV show, I would have never known who he was.
The point is this...
Some of those "armchair fabricators" likely know as much as Chad.
So not everyone should just be dismissed out of hand, simply because they aren't familiar or famous to you or me.
Thank you for your time.
Have a good one!
I like how Chad is what you see is what you get no BS I enjoy watching him I have been watching him from the beginning never miss a episode
Jolene will win
Might have to slot the holes in the lower hinges.
Or just oval them out
Lots of two seaters have back seats only good for kids or in a pinch for adults
Great on the back seat chad,,no worry’s on any leg room, it looks great an I think no one will be rideing back there anyway other then fina,,Doug is good help,,hi to Jolene an fina,,luv you guys,,👍👍😀
Chad elongate the four bolts on the hinge housing under the hood on both sides of the hood !!
The lower hinge mounting to the core support needs to be lowered instead of beating the hell out of the hood!!!
there is nothing worse that trying to align body panels by yourself. Thing is back when the car was made panel gaps were never the best they could be.
And he didn't take it apart! Who knows how many shims were used and where!
It's looking better and better, as most people new it would,,
She looks way better chad with that bigger back window makes it look more so symmetrical and even Good call brother
I don’t think you’ll hear any complaints from Fina about the back seat as long as she has enough room to curl up and see out those port holes. 😊
Back window looks a lot better 👍
Paint the t bird a pastel blue....a little lighter than jole enes Corvette
Looks great!
Chad, lower the hinges at the body, make the hole oval to adjust it
You got it..save a ton of time
Nailed it Chad. The portholes look great now as they are aligned with the side and rear window, No doubt in my mind. Thank you, take care and peace out!!
Oh yeah, I like it! Good decisions on the changes!
Candy apple red and black two tone would look amazing. Loving the build
Im loving this build Chad, for the paint, How about metallic charcoal with a black tinted clearcoat for the color.
Chad mentioned using metal flake , NOT metallic! There's a BIG difference!
I work for manufacturing plant Oklahoma city machine shop we manufactured ridley motor cycle s they were automatic bikes they made road bikes side cars theysde chopped bikes all the to small bikes I work for 5 years then I heard they went out of buiness they made the automatic bikes for women or people that didn.t like to shift Joline like that ok ridley motor cycle s were legit good bikes
Gold Flake paint with white/cream highlights, like done in the 60's, would really rock. Just typing out loud! Lol.
Bright yellow with white scallops. Sounds strange but looks good
I’m glad to see you have an extra pair on hands. You to seem to get along fine and work well together.
Chad probably won't go base clear,But how about a Black Cherry or House of color Tangerine Orange.
SILVER with the black gut . wire wheels .
rear window looks a lot better
Chad you loose...it will be flake...you know Black takes many many more hours of prep
Doug is in the house ! Hi Doug! Chad your hood fits ! It came off so it has to go back on you didn't change anything . But lining it up is sometimes a hard thing to do . My experience with it is try not to over think it Justus it on then decide if it needs adjustments .Thumbs-up guys have a great day I'll be back tomorrow Jolene !
Exactly study long study wrong!
Once the back piece and back seat is bolted in, I think it will look fine!
Black paint great idea. Sorry Jolene I hate flake. Great job Chaddy.
you should not have to cut the top back panel......it;s a pop and slide piece ....just have to work with it.....please don't cut it
The car would look good Cherry black with a bit of metallic flake
That Doug is a good hand to have around. Holy mackerel look at that door jam on the roof that's going to need some repair
I agree with Queen Jolene on the black with metal flake. The hood can be very tricky to get right. Good thing he has Doug there to help him.
Don’t you usually pin them before you take them off Hood & Hinges
Why bend the hood? Slot the hinges
Chad you may find that the pivot point of the hood where there is a bolt or a rivet is worn and needs to be replaced. That causes the hood to bee higher than it should be. Worth a check.
Throw a couple of axle stands under the rear frame, that squeak would have driven me bonkers days ago. Its a short drive these days. LOL I'm surprised your putting in the back seat, but it will be a great place for Fina. I think people would be hitting their heads on the rear glass, if not, it will be real close. Looking better all the time. Let Doug paw through the bolts buckets, he may find shims that go on the hood hinges and the same for the trunk.
I like the FLAKE!
Pick a color that makes it stand out and it will be really great.
This is great content the backseat fits and sure like the fact that you are going to do some priming soon
Chad you need to take the bottom of the set out and then you can put the back of the set in first then you can put the bottom of the seat back in place and it will work just fine and the upper panel will fit back in to place
Should fit with no problems
loosen the hood hinge bolts and get down inside the engine bay and have the other close the hood and tighten the bolts when its lined up..
Maybe you could open the holes on the hinges where the bolt on to the car so the hood can drop down a little bit more..
Good to have Doug around to help , he's done a lot of work off camera ,it's coming along quite nice now ,Jolene as always great camera work
Great progress! Thanks.
Back seat? Two seaters don’t have a back seat. I thought that was the whole point of the build.
plot twist
2+2...like a 928 Porsche or similar
.....and who said so
Cuda. Comaro mustang. Ford galaxy fair lane 500 2 door. All have a back seat lol 😂.
@@kennethcobham8326 Chad did.
thing is, you're working on someone els' work. and ya dont know how good they were.
Hi Chad and Jolene from Trois-Rivieres Quebec
Amazing job on the rear seat.
Still a great place for the kids to cruise in... 👍
On the paint,,,,Jolene wins. FLAKE IT.
say goodbye to your skull for the a rear passenger in a rear end collision
Hey killer job on the back seat trim showing once again that eyeing things your so talented with an your nitch over alot of builders awesome fit
Black with flake! On Jolene’s side here.
chad that car sounds like honeymnon in qa cheap motel..
Back in 57-58 the top of the seat when in 1st then the bottom goes in
Maybe you should take the bottom seat out and the back may fit then.
Window looks awesome on the hood couldn't you slot the holes to let the hood drop down . Dropping the hood and not beating it down will.give you the space you needed on the frount where it's so.close
rear window is kinda like whats on a 1960 thunderbird, I like it :)
