thats why i mainly stick to trackdays. I can hobble around all day on old tires without a worry in the world. Racing is extremely fun and a great way to push your bounderies but the costs involved are just eye watering
Another fantastic look into racing clip. Love this format of stuff from the race weekend,I club raced for a few years & that cost enough, the level of financial commitment to just run a small team in bsb is crazy. A big shout out has to go to Gav at MSG Racing as he must put allot into it & the rest of the team for doing such a good job,for a relatively small team you are doing a fantastic job 👍
They are a great team, Gav and the boys have put a fantastic bike together! It’s surprising sometimes that even at club level the costs can be similar!
@Mike Abel,I thought I would give you congratulations for the video, blog, insights, and brilliant questions. It was really interesting, I didn't recognise the rider, but he looks dam fast , so yeah, keep up the great content 👍 👏 👌.
I know some talent cup teams who are charging more than the cost mentioned in this video. I'm sure you missed out a few costs too to be honest. Good video though. He would be a lot better off if he decided to jack racing in and fly the twin engine plane that was in the background. I've got into aviation instead. You can go places, it's much cheaper per hour than racing in a single engine and fun to do.
And with that maths my friend is the reason why some motorcyclists ride the roads like a track and break speed limits. So all the "go on a track and do it" comments don't factor the general cost for track riding
In Australia in the mid to late 80’s, a workmate got 3rd in one of the two Australian 125cc GP Championship race heats for the weekend. He took home $1500 and a brass/bronze trophy. Motorcycle racing was big here back then. Now, I can’t remember how long ago since anyone got paid beyond third place outright for the ROUND and that’s ONLY for superbike class, and it’s barely any more than my workmates got paid nearly forty years ago!!! 😵😢
@@richie7361just because someone’s dad paid for everything doesn’t mean they’re not grateful… your parents got the same 24 hours a day. should’ve worked harder.. and this is coming from someone who was never given anything growing up🤙🏻
@@JPG_Racing lol what a stupid comment you don't even know my parents and they could be very wealthy for all you know they just don't choose to piss it away on their kid that's never going to achieve anything in racing? Lots of people have nothing don't think you are special 🤦♂️🤣🙄
How to make a small fortune in motor racing, start with a large fortune
An age old saying that is very true!
Great insight into racing, & costs.
Brilliant vid, nice to see behind the scenes and in the paddock
Thanks! More on the way this week!

This is a nice format for race reviews 👌
Enjoy your vlogs lads 👍Keep up the good work ✊️😃
Great vid 👍🙏
Woah that’s a moment 😮

No mention of insurance in that calculation.. do bikes not carry it. ? we did in cars.. typically circa £500 per race..
Omg I remember you going over the kerb lap 2 . I've watched that a few times after the race. You were lucky there. 😊
Quality vid Mikey. Your forgot to add in the cost of a fresh pair of pants after that moment over the curb in race 2!! 💩 😂
😂 that was one hell of a moment!

Thanks Paul! He sure knows how to pedal a bike! I will keep the videos coming👍
@Mike_abel cool, what's the riders name? History ect,?
Racing is life everything else is waiting
Class video! Could you do a video on getting a race license?
2003 I bought a zxr400 for £750 put in in a garden trailer and won my first race at Elvington. How times have changed
Auto 66?
Yes auto 66
Doing the interview in front of a twin engine aircraft. Told me everything I need to know. 😂
Raising the bike 6mm at once? That’s a big geometry jump to make.
...and it's totally worth it.
Love this, good doc series
Be good if somebody covered how much British Talent Cup costs 🤫
Thanks! Cost of talent cup, take out a few sets of tyres and you won’t be far off!

My dreams are shattered😂
I remember when bsb pirellis were 180 quid a pair. 80 for the fronts and 100 for the rears 😢. Sad times.
To counter these costs though, what prize money do teams receive and down to what position?
There is no prize money for any BSB class…
@@Mike_abel I didn't know that. I thought there would be some incentive. Like the starter money of the old days.
And with that maths my friend is the reason why some motorcyclists ride the roads like a track and break speed limits.

Wages - (Mortgage & Food) = Cost of Racing.
I am shocked
RC car racing..... its the way to go. You can have a massive crash and get to work on monday.
Do the teams/riders get any prize money for winning a round or the championship.
None at all, No prize money on offer for any class! But don’t worry you do get a large plastic trophy👊
So the BSB winner doesn't get any prize money?
The curcuits and organisers fill their pockets. Nothing is given back to the Riders. Just pure greed imo.
@@skippyguy3most racing is like this, sadly it stops a lot of talent getting through

So dad pays for everything? Sounds about right 🙄🙄
You should look into people’s story before making comments like this. There is a reason Joe said ‘used to’ at the start of this video…

It’s so cheap to do motorsport your all clueless!
did this guy say that race fuel is no better than pump fuel? clueless lol
99 octane race fuel used in all the smaller classes at BSB is the same octane as Tesco super unleaded.
@@patgreen6902 I've smelt vp race fuel. It's nothing like pump fuel. There's less ethanol in it
@@mckenzie125 we use Ral 99 Octane race fuel every BSB meeting. No difference on the Dyno to 99 octane Unleaded pump fuel.
