Ubisoft dont deserve this IP, its their best one and they just keep misshandling it.
Bud, they’ve been working on other games like XDefiant and Rainbow Six so they never had the chance to work on Heartlands that much
@@ded3307 uhhhh what?
@@ded3307Not how game development works...
Absolutely, they just care about AC and R6
@@tooquick0328 It wasn't gonna fit in the market anyways. Soon as the alpha version was closed, everyone stopped talking about it. It quickly became dead
Aw, man...I was really hoping for this one to get my friends into it. I kept saying how we were gonna try working in an entire group, and working in unison. Well, so much for that...
That’s sucks idk what’s release free to play game like division heartland then made a hard decision on canceling the entirety can’t speak for everyone but what I can say is that people are probably are really disappointed but hey its goes to show that a lot feature games are coming out but idk it’s this interest for redstorm but it’s what it’s
Yeah...kept saying how we were all gonna try running as one big group. Maybe be a bit of Rogue Hunters in the night, y'know? Our own brand of Division Hunters. Or just see if we can literally scavenge until the day goes dark. Empty everything on the map.
Ubisoft has a sad history with The Division, the cancelation of Heartland is the latest casualty.
Imma be honest, i dont think it would be well received if it came out, the game doyhave the same vibe as div1
How far we have come. Red Storm was the golden child of Ubi. The studio that has all those tom Clancy IPs we know and love. Lossing Ghost recon to UBI Paris, Losing everything else to Ubi Montreal. I had nothing but hope for the American Studio located in my home state of NC. If anyone deserved to be lead on a Tom Clancy title based of Legacy it was Red Storm. I am gutted and my heart goes out to the team.
Now that I think about how they are organized and how historically Ubi manages studio work. I think they were being triple tapped. Working on the Div 3 a bit. Working on Heartland. Working on Rainbow Six. Now that is common for big studios like Montreal and Paris but for a small studio like RedStorm, who has not been the lead developer on a Tom Clancy game in a long time, hasn't been I think they were stretched thin. My theory anyway. Then Ubi probably did a cost analyses of what projects were the money makers and Div 3 and rainbow won.
T been same since Terry left. This is real blow. Also they not working on div. Real blow.😭😥
Red Storm supremacy😼
This is un-fucking believable. I'm so disappointed in Ubisoft. They have crushed the heart of every Divsion fan around the world. I am devastated. Ubi deserves every bit of criticism because they have stringed us along for three years. Unacceptable.
Bro relax it wasn't going to be anything like the other 2 anyway. You aren't missing an amazing game or anything. It was going to be a shitty free to play extraction shooter with micro transactions galore. They probably canceled it because the market is oversaturated with extraction shooters anyway. The game wouldn't stand a chance. Just pray that they release a full division 3 instead.
@@alezarepicIt may have not been better than Div 1 but it was worth a try. The beta testers said it was launch ready. Div 3 is at least 3 yrs away
And Div 2 is dying if not dead. The entire Division Community hoping that Heartland saves the series. I guess I'll grind XDefiant😭.
Bro I will never touch Xdefiant or Rainbow six siege, I'd definitely play heartland though. What a shame man
Same here
Right...Why do that when I can just go play COD or Fortnite. Lol!
Same here. Not my kind of games anyway.
Lmao I had the same thought
I mean, siege is at least unique, or at least mostly so.
Heartland was not.
There are about 50 other games that do exactly what heartland was doing. Some of them even better. Not that difficult, because heartland didn't do what it did particularly well.
Heartland was basically a paint by numbers survival game
My heart goes out to the staff of Red Storm whom worked tirelessly making Heartland.
Fully agree. All that time and work! Can’t get that time back. Feel bad for the devs
For sure; Red Storm are really talented and it's a sad day when a project that a lot of us were looking forward to gets canned. It's a gut-wrenching thing to hear all the time and effort poured into something that will never get a chance to get launched.
Cope
@ Mrs
Ohh please, they go their money. Not to mention most of those activist devs hate your guts.

The o.g. Red Storm devs were talented, whats working there today arent the same people.
All that work down the pipes? So much wasted hard work. Thanks for the video gold.
I don’t care for PVP so won’t affect me. Sorry for all those that put the effort but it doesn’t have to be a waste of time. There must be scope to use the map and maybe integrate it into Div 3 or DLC for Div 2
It had a huge pve component.

Heartland was a mix of the both, which is a great way to funnel people into D1 and D2 pvp
@@k4boom3rr10 mmmm, and who doesn’t want to be funnelled into toxicity?
@@fabioluiz5601
That was a little harsh. For what it’s worth, I agree with you. I have no illusions as to the total incompetence of Ubisoft and all that goes with it but I am a problem solver at heart and will always look for a solution or silver lining.
Been playing since day 1, although that’s hardly relevant.
Rip, red storm put in so much effort
"Division 3" is what we need.
Hope ubi doesn't fk that up, like they seem to do with everything else.
i wouldn't hold my breath knowing how they monetized current games
I sadly saw it coming a long time ago... too many delays means death in developing a game.
At this point, I’m skeptical that we will see D3 in a reasonable time frame and I doubt we will see continued high effort support for D2 beyond the delayed DLC already in the works …
My guess is 2029.
As one of the people who played the closed beta im sad to see this happen.
Maybe some of the concepts and talant put into this will surface in div 3.
My heart goes out to the dev team. We love you.
That sucks. Although, it makes sense, given that the dev team isn't as big as they were previously. Hopefully, once they can get more people on board to work on the Division franchise, Heartland might see a revival. 😞🙏
Let's hope you're right. I had hopes for this game and was really looking forward to it. Fingers crossed, if it ever comes back.
There ain't no way they are reviving a half assed extraction shooter. The market is oversaturated with free to play extraction shooters and the game would have flopped hard. Just pray that they keep working on division 3 instead.
Gaming news has been sad recently. A cancelation that close to a speculative launch is definitely troubling. While sad in the short term, it's also cause for concern in the long term. They were just about to make money from it, and to throw it away, I'm worried about ubi as a whole.
Been a long time since a piece of gaming news has effected me this much. After many bad experiences and disappointments over the past few years this is the final nail in the coffin for me as far as my trust and goodwill with ubisoft. Very frustrating and sad. Be kind to each other. _Agent Deseased_
Exatamente...confiança se conquista.
A Ubisoft perdeu a minha.
Absolutamente Frustado.
Me sinto assim por amar d+ ese jogo❤️🔥..ponto.
Stop overreacting like your world is ending. This wasn't going to be a masterpiece of a video game my guy. It was going to be your average free to play extraction shooter, filled to the brim with micro transactions. The market is oversaturated with them and that is probably why it was canceled, they realized it can't compete. Just go play literally any of the other popular extraction shooters and pray that they keep working on division 3 instead.
@@alezarepic I've been pretty heavily involved with this game for a few years now but I appreciate the wonderful sage life advice and suggestions on how to properly process my feelings. Maybe I could hire you to consult on future issues?
@@alezarepic Dude youre an idiot. How many people did you reply to with your junk opinion? Heartland wasnt just any extraction shooter, yet thats what your dumb ass keeps talking it down as. If you didnt play it, didnt like it, stfu and stop posting about it.
@@NONEsoJIVE "get over it, it was prolly a crappy game" is sage life advice?
(Just a thought). Redstorm is moving to work on "other projects" does that include The Division 3? If so, they need to bring Sliver creek as a location we can travel to. It would be another way, for them to incorporate Heartland.
I played this game during the closed test with some friends and it was so much fun, this is honestly so heartbreaking.
That sucks. This is really the first time I’ve seen any video of heartland. Looks totally cool. I hope they can use some of those graphics or maps in division 3.
That's a bummer as I was looking forward to this. With that said...I do wonder if there will be a DLC down the road after the Brooklyn one where it could feature the Heartland map and enemies. Or possibly in the next Division 3 game. It'd be such a waste to just let all of that work go away.
Do you think since it was so far into the development stage it might be rolled into a Division 3 dlc, expansion pack or something?
I do not, unfortunately
The fact that Ubi brought the resources to other games while TD2 is doing Project Resolve right now and had the Brooklyn DLC delayed makes me so mad.
Instead of twiddling their thumbs (not saying they weren’t actually doing anything) they could’ve had them working on the main game where those resources are most needed right now and not Rainbow Six, that game is older than TD2 and I’m sure that game will be fine without those resources.
Just think about it, they cancelled a potentially successful extraction shooter in favour of CoD clone that will be a ghost town in a year... now that's a whole new level of stupidity.
No ghost recon for 5 years, no Far Cry bridge game so probably 4 years wait on that, and I would bet another 4 years on Division 3. How can they mismanage so many titles? ACTIVISION has a new COD game out every single year it Destiny 2 has regular DLC and major updates multiple times a year. How does Ubisoft neglect snd mismanage these IP's so consistently bad?
honestly might be because of Rainbow Six Siege and Assassin's Creed ngl. I don't see any other Ubi game that has nearly enough of the same attention they get
I’m bummed, was looking forward to this one!
Hopefully they will focus on Division 3. Division 2 has been milked long enough. Let the cow rest.
I wonder if any of the assets created for Heartland will be used in Division 2's upcoming DLC, or even Division 3. I thought the inclusion of melee weapons looked interesting. Maybe they'll use some of the clothing pieces made as apparel events.
Really forgot this game existed and now you made me sad 😭
I remember when I saw the announcement post years back and was like "HOLY SHIT!". But it's sad that it resulted like this
That was a special day.
Sucks, but I began to wonder after it didn't launch following the closed beta. They obviously realized then that the game wasn't ready, and at that point it becomes something of a financial calculation. How long is spent continuing to develop, and at what cost, and how will the company recoup that investment. With a free to play game that maths is even harder.
It may seem strange that these resources are not pivoting to The Division 3, but JG obviously has his own team that he's setting up for that which may already include other resources. Or a different studio. So that's not as surprising.
Unfortunately this is stuff that happens all the time in the game industry. We just don't always see it. Games are developed for years and then cancelled without ever seeing the light of day. Most never even reach an alpha stage. It's rarer to make it to beta, but that happens too. It sucks, but the games sector is absolutely cutthroat.
What concerns me more is that there is some talk the DLC is now 2026 and not 2025. Will TD2 be entering another slow down phase as resources are pulled away and focusing more on TD3? I hope not. The community is just becoming re-energized.
Also, what's happening with The Division Mobile? That wasn't listed in the investors report either. Hopefully that isn't DOA as well.
While this is unfortunate I still have one question and that’s if the story elements/lore of Heartland can still be considered canon (Mutated version of the Green Poison, Killian Creed and Mackenzie Reed as well as their storyline, the supposed growing Rogue Cell in Silver Creek, and the Division Agents whose mission is to protect the servers in Silver Creek)? And while Heartland isn’t coming, hopefully the progress they made in development can still be put towards The Division 3 or any other future Division IPs
I used to work at Red Storm Entertainment and have been on a canceled game. It sucks BAD.
Hopefully management gives them at least couple weeks paid time off to regroup before throwing them on the next project.
First thanks RogueGold for all the updates on Heartland. It is actually not surprising that this game was canceled. I was one of the beta testers and had issues with game which I did feedback to devs. The biggest problem was when you die or the game crashed, you loose ALL the gear you are wearing. This gear could take hours of grinding to get! This happened multiple times and I was very pissed! There was one occasion where I fell through the floor and went outside the world and crashed. Second problem was you are limited to 6 agents. In the arcade (the lobby) this limitation really showed as many of same types are standing around. In general the game really did not have the feel of Tom Clancy Division. Basically they tried to create a Valorant or Fortnite version of the Division which really does not work. The good things were the Heartland or small town really looked beautiful and was nice change from New York or DC. I also really liked the sliding mechanic and hope they use this in Division 3. I do feel for the ones making the game, I am a retired game tester for EA and worked on the first Battlefield so I know how hard they worked.
I think Red Storm could probably add more experience to TD2 and TD3 as they did for TD1. Perhaps many aspects of TD:Heartland can be added to TD2/3. I think the fear of “live service” is scary many publishers now.
I don't blame Red Storm at all, the blame lies solely with Ubisoft. Did it need some adjustments to make that shift from Div1/2 to the extraction genre? Sure. But it was doable, and the team seemed willing to take on that challenge. I also think this could have coexisted with The Division 3.. whenever that decides to happen. It's a completely different genre and while yes, it might have had some overlaps, I think it absolutely could have been a part of people's seasonal rotation.
On the other hand, the good news is that more staff will be hired by the 3rd part... well, or additional content...
I wonder why it has been canned, judging by this video footage for example, the game looks almost finished? Map is ready, mechanics are there such as melee combat, sliding, hunger/thirst, etc.
So much stuff was already done and they for some reason canceled it in favor of XDefiant? Which is btw dead on arrival.
Can’t say I didn’t see this coming, but it’s still sad to see it go.
what a waste, I'm stuck between wanting Ubisoft to go bankrupt and wanting them to exist so div3 happens.
Same, I don't like upper management. But would be sad to see the Clancy games and red storm go. Our only hope would be that they pull a the nordic.
Just returned to division 2 after a 2 yr break ,was legitimately looking forward to this ,such a shame .
Rogue I’ve been following your channel for so long. I placed my hopes in your enthusiasm in this game and all the good news shaping towards its release. Unfortunately the game got cancelled ? It took me by surprise this morning when I woke up. Wtf happened bro ? How did a game you spoke about heavily ended up being cancelled ? Where were the warning signs ? I’m just scratching my head and puzzled by this revelation
I was waiting for it to drop since I love the game and franchise but this just straight up sad. I was really hyped thinking about getting my friends into Heartland and Division franchise as a whole went it drop 😢
Looking from logical stand point tho, the extraction shooter scene is reaching saturation with all the recent release or upcoming releases;
Greyzone Warfare
Arena Breakout:Infinite
Marathon
EFT
etc…
And Ubi prob don’t want to dip into what they think is a “losing” battle.
Tbh the bit that stings for me is red Storm being set to help R6 and Xdefiant instead of the Division 2 and 3. like seriously? I like R6 and XDefiant but R6 is 9 year old game runs on an ancient engine and Xdefiant isnt out yet but managed to get far with only Ubi San Francisco. Meanwhile The Division is an MMORPG with a giant open world and has pvp and pve that in my eyes clearly needs all the help it can get.
Oh man that sucks.. I was looking forward to this
I heard there was a play tester who said in his opinion the game was launch ready. Don't remember who though.
I myself, as a playtester, the game was ready for an open beta. It played so damn well, on par with Survival from div 1 if you ask me

I still can't believe this is happening!! I was looking forward SO MUCH to eventually playing this game, and after so many years we just get the door slammed onto our noses! IT SUCKS SO SO BAD!!!!
What a shame. I’ve been looking forward to this for awhile
Well then, at least we know division 3 is in the works
We know that a while now
yes but lets hope they don't pull that as well
The division heartland was in the works
Not really until massive has Star wars out the door, looks like red storm is going to xdefiant(can't believe they chose to kill heartland over xdefiant)and siege.
No. Just xdefiant (mid) and r6s (overbeaten game for nearly 10 years)
Thing is it looked like descent which I don't think many people play.
What a gut punch! 😫😠 This feels like such a betrayal. I thought this was like 90% done.
I was literally just thinking about heartland 2 mins ago and checking online for the 100th time on its status, haven’t played Div 2 for year or 2 but still gutted
This was one of the few games I was really looking forward to. The Division franchise holds a special place for me and now anything truly new for it has been blown away for years. Damn it Ubi...
Hopefully we'll see the UI and maybe the mechanics from Heartland in The Division 3 or somehow in Division 2
I was kinda looking forward to playing this with all my friends (console, PC, Division veterans, fresh recruits) and going through this game with them all on a clean slate...well guess not anymore.
Strangely enough, it seems like Resurgence is still under development. Not sure how to feel about that....
2 years waiting and now nothing....😢 I was hoping this would have been out by now. Hopefully Ubisoft uses what they have and put it into a DLC for Division 2 or 3.
I don’t understand I’ve seen demo gameplay of it and it looked wonderful! I’ve heard from creators too that it was damn near complete…aww man that sucks.
I would love to see a state of the game for the division, what's the eta of bug fixes, what's happening with the content already developed for division heartland etc.? Will we see it in division 2 or will it be a mode or map in division 3? Certainly, the content developed for heartland will not be scrapped, so some information would be great.
I think the most likely option is that Heartland stuff is scrapped, unfortunately.
This is a foreshadowing to the division 3 being canceled in 5 years from now
Ubisoft should release it as-is and let the modding community and freelance coders work on it
I wonder if they will add what they have now from Heartland to Division 3. Just a thought.
I piss off I was hoping it to come but no but how you said it’s on hold for now so let’s wait for more years but you said it been canceled it’s kill my heart 😢😢
man, I played the closed, and I was really looking forward to the game.
Off the cuff theory, but after Extraction and Skull and Bones both underperforming (and getting canned) and then being overhyped (respectively), Ubisoft probably didn't want to risk losing more, especially on a Free to Play with no base monetary regain guaranteed.
I imagine they will use the assets from Heartland and incorporate them into Division 3 but that still sucks all that work just to get cancelled
the sliding, crawl n cover mechanics in the beata was really really really good
What a bummer! 😢
That sucks i was really looking foward to that game
Super bummed about this. One game I've realllly been looking forward to this year
Tbh, i never give a crap about heartland since it only focuses on "Extraction shooter" Which i am not a fan of that one. But for other players, thats a big shame for Ubisoft for taking down that was developed over the year
Its not like you couldn't see this coming, this was taking way too long. I expect to see some of this work in D3 in some form.
I've watched a MarcoStyle video where he said this game looks like it's never gonna come out.
I chuckled along because the game looks like it's very close to go public and the interest from the community was growing pretty great, so I thought there's no way they'd suddenly cancel it. With it being free-to-play and quite a bit of development time put into it to make it different from older Division games enough to be its own thing. Like how you can slide down slopes, go crouch, and having day-night cycle that has impact on gameplay, all of these things have merit for this game to exist.
I guess what I'm trying to type is I wish I had the gut-feeling or assumptions MarcoStyle had about Heartland. I feel tired and betrayed holding out hope and excitement for the game for this long to just see it gone to waste like this.
This really sucks, but you're right those poor employees 😞
Dude, now is the perfect time too with _other_ extraction shooters popping off. Guess I'll have to settle for Grey Zone.
I _REALLY_ hope Ubi doesn't lay anyone off because, well, that's what these companies do.
Fortunately for now it seems like all at RSE are keeping their jobs
E o the division resurgence ainda continua em desenvolvimento?
Heartbreaking 😢 I hope those assets are not gone to waste. Let’s turn them into dlc or something for D2
So Sad For Our Players Who Been Waiting
Do you think they might try to incorporate the idea into a div2 update or maybe Division 3?
Anything is possible. Div 3 is more likely of the two, it would take major reworking to fit into Div 2's infrastructure
Hopefully a lot of the ideas and assets created for Heartland will be incorporated into D3. Perhaps a game mode within D3 that was supposed to be Heartland proper? At the end of the day this sucks and I hope for the best with all the devs involved that they get to shine on other projects (including The Division IP).
all i gotta say is it is what it is. hope whatever they work on turns out to be worth it but who knows games have been scary lately i hope they get there shit together
All im waiting for is Division 3
Division 3 needs to go more of an mmo/survival direction at this point, either in the main game or in a mode, so I'm not surprised. I'm sure many resources will transfer over.
Heartland was never going to be released, it was a testing ground for other projects.
It would be super cool if when something like this happened, the devs released the unfinished game to the public for free to try out. Just for the people to try out and see what really could have been. Maybe people would end up really liking the concept and there would be enough demand for them to continue development.
Kinda thought this would happen. I’ll be surprised if they don’t take this and turn it into div 3
NOOOOOO I was so excited to play this! 😭😭
WOW, this is so sad because I got to play it in the BETA and loved it. I couldn't wait till it got released to play it to its fullest.
Had a feeling this was going to happen but i remained hopeful.
Given the recent track record any news from Ubisoft about new content coming for the Division franchise I'd take with a grain of salt including Division 3. I'll believe it when it gets released.
Shocker !!! Not really allready knew when we have heard nothing AT ALL since the last time.. guess I am done with my favorite series till 3 comes out in 4 years ...
That's actually good. They now have more time and resources for division 3.
That might be what it seems on the surface but down below it means management, investors and Ubisoft themselves see the franchise as not worth the time. This cancelation shows that they’d rather focus on what’s making them the money instead of a mostly dead franchise. This could be just the beginning when it comes to bad news for the Division franchise. I would not take this as good news man it’s the complete opposite.
assuming the resources won't go onto Rainbow 6 Siege and/or XDefient lol
I am more curious why did this happen. The game looks like they gotten all the basic mechanics down.
was it finacial issues for supporting development? Issue with making certain aspect of the game working? Too many delays on certain things? No established long term plan for what kind of content it will provide to keep players interested?
The reason is Ubisoft is a garbage publisher and they do not care about their studio's in the slightest.
God damn it was looking forward to it... But, hopefully this means all hands on deck for Div 3
I just want a third person open world end of the world type single player game. I don’t mind if coop or multiplayer aspects are added but just to play that game solo is something I like
Once they announced they were pushing back the D2 DLC I figured this was gonna happen. The are taking all the feed back from all the PTSs and putting them in D3
I would hope they are able to roll the crossplay/cross progression from heartland and stitch it into division 2 but I won’t hold my breath.
It’s sad that Red Storm got the rug snatched from under them. I was looking forward to Heartland.
Im glad but also worried theyll just use heartland for div3
With live service games being cancelled mere weeks or months after launch these days, this isn't surprising. Add to that the fact that it was an ill-conceived Battle Royale game scheduled to come out years after that trend has died out, and that it seemed to be stuck in development hell for some time, I just assumed it was defacto cancelled a while ago and they just didn't want to publicly announce it.
For me it's no big loss as I have no interest in PVP aspects of this series. Hopefully this means they can invest more manpower and resources into Division 3 or something. But Ubisoft clearly does not appreciate what a gem they have with this series, so I won't be holding my breath 😢
