Regarding getting all the boxes for a gem, it’s not really any easier in the Japanese version. The only thing they changed is that in the English releases, it’s literally impossible to get the gem if you die, assuming you die after getting a checkpoint. The game not only resets all the boxes but it also just disables the ability to get the gem. In the Japanese version however, you can get the box gem if you die but the box count still resets. This means that you have to traverse the level backwards to get the gem, which is either really difficult or simply impossible. Because of that, you’re still better off just resetting the level in the Japanese version. It’s quicker, easier and you flat out have to on numerous levels. Great video as always. This channel is seriously underrated.
Great video! Crash Bandicoot 1 is one of my favourite games ever, and I've played through it so many times, but all of these tricks are new to me! My next playthrough of the game shall certainly be more interesting!

Excellent video, Crash Bandicoot is one of my favorite childhood games, I've seen speedruns of the game before but didn't know about any of these strats, I just thought that jumping made Crash run faster, really cool stuff, I hope you make similar videos for the rest of the series (Twinsanity would be a fun one lol).
