    @Neofolis 2 месяца назад +5

    People talk about the women's 200m sprinters not doing well this year, but it's only really because we've been spoiled for the past few seasons with loads of amazing times. I remember in the 2015 WC finals when Daphne Schippers beat Elaine Thompson and they ran 21.63 and 21.65, the 3rd and 5th fastest ever at the time, I was amazed to see sub 22's, it hardly ever used to happen. Now it's kind of expected that we'll see a couple of sub 22's in the NCAA's as well as many others throughout the season. Anyway, that aside, this 200m is wide open compared with the 100m, which is the opposite to the men. I'm going to go with Gabby, Sha'Carri and McKenzie. Any of the women mentioned in the video have a decent shot, but Gabby has proven her form, McKenzie the same, plus she has added incentive to do well this year and Sha'Carri has proven she can rise to the occasion and has run fast enough in the 100m to suggest she could run a fast 200m. If any of those three don't make it, Jamessia and Abby be the ones I would expect to do well if they are healthy. Whatever happens it should be a great compettion.

    • @kc5466
      @kc5466 2 месяца назад +3

      @@ronester1 I wouldn’t go that far. I think Gabby has the highest ceiling and could potentially break the 200m record if she improved on her first 100 of the 200m.
      But Shacarri can improve on her speed endurance. Her curve and first 100 speed is immaculate but the final 100 is her weakness. And one of the only ways for her to improve on her final 200 is by running 400m races or really working on the 200 in training. But since her primary focus is the 100m her full potential may never be realized.
      Shacarri’s gonna make the 200m team but Gabby has the most unrealized potential in the 200m. But likewise Shacarri in the 100 has the most unrealized potential because she is the only one right now that could potentially break the record.

      Spot on. Also, watch Candace Hill. Her 150 in ATL beat some top people. I think you have to keep eyes on ShaCarri. She can run that 200, which she has shown in her Freshman year when she was literally cheated out if the double as a freshman. Last year, was her first year back to running the 209 and medal. If she is near that 10.7 speed or faster, she is going to put stress on folks to catch her. Her deceleration is not like Christian. I am seeing a stronger Shacarri. Gabby will be tough to beat unless she gets wobble legs after the 400. But I predict Gabby in 400. All year they have been aiming at this double in silence. Now we know why she probably struggle. Also look for Little in 400 and the two freshmen phenoms. I am picking Jamessa because she was not used up as much as Kalen. Univ of Ark kills athletes. After killing Britton Wilson and the direct cause of her injury as well as Shawnti Jackson, no way I would send my child to those two coaches.

    For me, the top 2 are definitely Gabby Thomas and McKenzie Long, but three is a real tossup. Initially, I was thinking Sha'Carri because she has the speed, but now I'm wondering. I'm inclined to think that it'll be either Abby Steiner or Jameesia Ford. In terms of style, they're polar opposites.
    Steiner has a slightly herky-jerky style with very fast turnover and is all about traction. When she's healthy and on point, she connects to the track has that weird acceleration in the second half of the race. Jameesia Ford looks like she's floating on air. Ford has the 3rd best time this year among the competitors (4th best in the world) and she hasn't lost to anyone but McKenzie Long this year, which could mean that she doesn't lose to anyone but Long and Gabby now. Small nit-picky Qn, but why Top 9 (instead of 8) as there doesn't seem to have been an indication that Trials are going to be 9 Lane Finals for the Sprints unless I completely missed it? Similar to the W100m, it's about the #2 & #3 spots this time behind Gabby though it'll be interesting to see how she's affected by having three 400m rounds in her legs for the very first time @Trials from earlier in the wk! I had Brittany Brown if she'd run it making last yr's WC 200m Team ahead of Kayla White as she was in the form of her life, and her going all in on the 200m this yr says something. Half of me wishes both McKenzie Long & JaMeesia Ford after a long NCAA Season were doing something similar & only running the 200m! Anderson's really not feeling Abby this yr with her not even making his 100m Top 9 & only 7th place in the 200m!!! Still think it's at least a yr too early for Tamari Davis in the 200m; have got issues with the very talented Tamara Clark's consistency; and have absolutely no idea what to expect from Sha'Carri in the 200m :) So have got Gabby, McKenzie & Brittany Brown just slightly over Sha'Carri as my Top 3 - a crazy amount of depth in both M&W's Sprints atm!!!

      Regarding lanes, you right that there will only be 8 lanes used. I actually wasn't 100% sure because I remember World Athletics changed the rules that they will use 9 lanes at World Champs moving forward in the sprints/hurdles. I think I kept thinking that trickled down. But just checked USATF rules and its still 8.
      I think I don't have any issue with Abby, but I'm just not sure of her status. She pulled out of the Jamaica Invite and the NYC GP and if I have to split hairs, I'm going with the others ahead of her. BUT I would love to see her make the team if healthy because that would put her in medal contention.
      Brittany and Tamara is a coin flip honestly. Outside of the China races, Tamara has been doing very well only behind Gabby, and her 100m as looked strong. Also ran her first 400m this year. So its truly splitting hairs because I think Brittany can make the team too.

    I’m not a huge fan of promoting shiny new collegiate toys on championship years. ShaCarri, Julien, Jasmine, etc., are a bit exceptional, but even the first two only did so well their first year, while Jasmine has an easy ride with no competition in PR…no trial issues! So, I don’t want McKenzie Long anywhere near Paris…there are a million other people who haven’t run a long season and can easily fill her shoes. I do wanna see McKenzie Long next year and the following, because she has something I really like. That is, McKenzie is a bit like your ShaCarri, Jeter, Tori Bowie, etc., in that no matter her start, she is always in the race and coming back atcha; that is a very special talent!
    Gabby is gonna be ready, obviously. Brittany Brown is hard to predict…I think she could get in there, as she has been looking so darn good the past two years, and she runs with confidence! I also think ShaCarri is gonna be in there…ShaCarri has shown she can clearly go much faster than her PB. Also, remember ShaCarri in the 200M is like Shelly Anne in that event…ShaCarri gets way out to 150M, then everyone needs to catch her. She will have burned out most of the other runners due to their panic trying to catch her. I have those three…with Abby and Jenna just missing the team.

    Do you still think Sha'carri will not make the 200m team, Anderson 🤔 I still have Sha'carri as the double sprint champion at the Olympics!!! Usa 🇺🇸

    I really hate the college kids are able to compete at nationals. Not only is it not fair, it lessens the professionalism of the sport. College athletes are typically in better shape now than the pros so they will likely take a pros spot in some events but usually crash out by the major championships.
    The rules need to change that only pros can compete at nationals

      @blackmenachievellc3770 it's not fair to the pros. College athletes train on an earlier schedule to peak at the beginning of June, which is the pinnacle of their season. Pros start later to peak at the major championships. In addition, pros' pay is highly determined by the teams they make whereas college athletes have nothing invested in making the team other than pride. You don't see the NBA selecting a college athlete for the Olympic team regardless of how good of a season she/he has
      Plus, name a college athlete who has medaled at a major championship in recent years since I'm just saying stuff smh

      @@mikelarry3835 I agree college kids always are more warmed up than the pros and steal spots from the pros. McKenzie is super warmed up right now like Abby was two years ago which puts her in better shape than the pros right now. She'll take a spot because she's been running all year. They need to have a separate events overseas for the college athletes, maybe call it U23.

    5:01 Dude, you're gonna have to calm down with your predictions. You say this about every athlete who wins something. You said this exact thing about Bryce Deadmon, Terrance Laird. Cambrea Sturgis won both events at NCAAs in 2021, where she at? Just give us the facts and leave all this fluff at home.
