I always find that turning up the Gain actually makes it a lot easier to hear any imperfections in my playing. I never got the whole "Crank the gain to hide mistakes" thing...

i play drums and i really think that my music teacher is cool so once in a music lesson where we recorded a song to a school band album, my teacher asked if i got the drum solo and stuff i just said yeah to look cool in front of him so i said yes and when we got to the drum solo part i messed up and everyone looked at me like i was a giant douche because after weeks of practice we tried to record the song and it is a very long song and my teacher said play this drum solo in this part of the song before we began recording, and i ended up messing up the recording and it was sounding the best at just this recording and the drum solo ruined it all, we tried afterwards and the song didnt sound as well as the first recording where i made a mistake so we couldn’t use the recording. this was a very complicated way to tell this story sorry about that.
I have a couple of music horror stories as well. My worst was when I was in 6th grade. I play flute and I was in the concert band at my school. We were playing a bunch of Star Wars pieces. One of them had a solo part and the other was the "March of the Resistance" which was a really hard peice for my level. So starting with what went wrong with the solo, I had studied and practiced for days before trying out on it and I had one slur that I didn't quite nail. Other than that, it was pretty much perfect. My friend (also in 6th grade at the time) tried out as well and she nailed it as well. Instead of it going to one of us, it went to one of the 8th grade boys who messed up more than we did on the try outs. To make it even worse, when we got to that part in the piece, he messed up and stopped playing completely. He just set his flute in his lap and put his head in his hands. My friend and I could have done it, but since we were younger than him, he got the part and fricked it up. Moving on to what went wrong with the "March of the Resistance". Like I had said before, it is a really hard piece for my age and for some reason, the director decided to spend all of our time making the timing right on one part instead of making sure we knew what was going on for the hardest part of the piece. We got to that part and half of us stopped playing the other half struggled along trying to make sure we stayed in time for the rest of the piece. It was a nightmare and we all looked like idiots.
Thought: "Man, I should really take a break from learning new songs and focus on studying some music theory." Me: "Oh I gotta try learning how to play that Metallica song now!"
My thought: I should learn some differnet scales that challenge my abilities and will make me a better guitarist. Me: Proceeds to practice the same licks and older scales I learned years ago. And play the same songs I learned for fun.
A thought that I recently had: "I should dumb all the blury pedals out of the signal chain so I can enjoy the real dynamics of my amp and practice my own dynamic feeling!" I NEED A NEW FUZZ!!!

I don't use Jazz III's, but I do use Jazz I's (rounder tip). I absolutely love them and I have no problem holding them.
Hey Tyler, I just wanna see if you know Frank Gambale. I’m a giant fan of him, and I think he is WILDLY underrated. He comes from my area, and he was a good family friend. My uncle played keyboard with him, and Frank only played with the best of the best.

Jazz III XL user here. Pretty much all the benefits of the Jazz III without it being so small. I don’t like the normal Jazz III picks myself. If you’ve written them off before, try the XL.
