When I went to Disney World when I was four, I was scared to death of that Clock Tower. So, when I get to this boss several years later, those bad memories hit me like a truck. I was so utterly horrified that I ran out of thinner 5 times trying to kill this thing. And when I saw it die, I got some sort of sadistic pleasure. Like, I finally avenged my childhood in a weird way.
I only defeated the clock tower via thinner because that's kinda just what I rolled with being younger, which is kinda why I was blindly heading towards a bad ending
Epic Mickey is one of those forgotten but so incredibly well made games even with its hindrances. One can only imagine what warren specter had intended for the original game. This was definitely the most unsettling thing in the entire game (aside from some of the obvious things). If disney had let warren go through with what he wanted, just imagine all the hell that could have broken loose. The Clock tower was just the scratch of the surface, and to think the flood gates were so close to being opened. We need more epic mickey shit, and i dont care that disney shut down disney interactive and junction point, just give us another damn game dammit!
Warren Spector said this when asked about the concept art "That concept art was leaked and never intended for public consumption. I had the team do that because I needed to know where the line of acceptability was for Disney. What would they be comfortable with and what would they not be comfortable with. The way to find where a line is is to cross it. By a lot. Do something really out there and have them go, “No. Too far.” Then do something a little less radical… and less radical until, frankly, you get where you want and they don’t even realize you’ve gotten there. I think we pushed things further, darkness-wise, than anyone thought possible. Will a game in that crazy, over-the-top, dark as the pit style ever see the light of day? Probably not from Disney!"
Yeah Disney if you make Epic Mickey 3, let all hell loose!have Minnie Mouse in a 1938 princess gown, make it so dark and kid friendly, and make it all freaking scary if you’re gonna make a game based off your legacy then let all the creepiness fly out!
Everything spector intended for the original game was in there. The dark concept art you might have seen was just to see if Disney would let them have characters with missing limbs and dark themes etc which they did
well ive heard there was a graphic novel... havent looked into it so i dont know anything about it besides the fact that it got the blots name wrong thus causing everyone to be incredibly confused (in one its the shadow blot in the other its the phantom blot and its so hard to keep straight in my head since the words are so similar)
this sounds like the type of song you would hear in a child's ultimate nightmare, and clock towers face looks like a person who has listening to an annoying song for several days on loop without sleep
Make that "listening to an annoying song SINCE 1966 on loop without sleep" and you have an accurate representation of just how long this poor soul has been forced to listen
kyle Castaneda I hope one day Disney and Fromsoft decide to one day make a Dark Disney themed game together set in a decrepit corrupted Disneyland. it would be great and i would pay to play it.
@Colgate The Hedgehog FUN FACT: During the early stages of this game there were plans on making the story much more darker. Some of these things include: a super bad ending that showed a giant thinner storm disolving all of wasteland while Mickey takes pleasure from looking at, Mickey turning into a rat-like monster if he uses too much thinner and/or takes too many wrong/evil choices, a more steampunky and rusted enviroment that showed a horribly rundown and desolate wasteland, much more grotesque and creepy looking enemies, Oswald teaming up with the Blob and turning into a creepy final boss, etc. Basically a more horror based disney fantasy game somewhat similar to American Mcgee's Alice. But for various reasons (rating issues and budget, mostly rating...) these were cut in the end.
@@painterguy6469 yeah honestly looking over the concept art and storyboard stuff for this game ends up painting (heh) a much darker story that I really wish they had gone through with and made. But they gotta stay squeaky clean. Even the final product is pretty tame when you know what could have been. If anyone enjoys dark steampunk almost Tim burtony art then I implore you to go and check out a gallery online of this and the sequels concept art. You will not be disappointed. Edit: I forgot to mention that yes, comparing the initial concept with Americans Alice is an absolutely perfect comparison.
Fun fact: in the E3 demo, the clocktower's face would open like a door to reveal a record player that mickey could smash with a spin attack, stopping the music. In the final game, you still earn an achievement called "stop the music". The reason for this change is simple. Mickey completes the first half of the fight with his paintbrush, so it made more sense to finish the second phase with it as well.
I think it was added to a comic book adaptation as well. In fact, when the battle begins in the comic, the Clock Tower is straight-up singing "It's a Small World"
Ok but is it sad that before this game I had no idea the clock tower existed? I literally fell in love with the idea of the clock tower after this game. I go to Disneyland weekly now and I have clock tower bags and small world themed merch I loved it so much lmao
This song is legendary. It gives you a feeling of a huge terror looming over you while also having it be a tiny bit creepy and sounding very mad (crazy not angry type of mad ) to make this so magical.
This is one of if not my favorite OST for a boss. They completely took something completely loved and remembered for its sweet melody and turned it on it’s head into a epic distorted theme that you could imagine hearing in a boss battle, like it was meant to be. It’s just absolutely fantastic.
I love how you were able to save or defeat the bosses in this game. I wish that they had kept the Scrapper, the Hero, and the Wastelander concepts for Mickey though
Well these concepts still are in the game but they’re more subtle ,like Mickey’s expression kinda changes and the blot ink that floats out of his body can stop the more Paint you use ,or the ink can float more if you use Thinner a lot more.
As soon as I found out you could redeem him I immediately restarted the game and did just that. I never liked the thinner path myself. Sure it's fun to be bad sometimes but this wasn't one of those times for me.
Everything about this game was perfect. the dark atmosphere, the ost, the areas, and the dehumanization of everything disney was just brilliant. Sucks that the studio was shut down, I would've loved to see a remaster of this game to live up to its maximum potential.
Imagine being forced to listen to a song so many times that you were MADE to hear, you literally became insane on the brink of literal chaos. Just goes to show, ear worms can be dangerous..
It’s a world of slaughter A world of tears A world of nightmares A world of fears There’s so little we share, so it’s time we’re aware... It’s a dark world after all
What always made this so powerful and frightening to me is knowing what made the clock tower go insane. He's been forced to listen to that song on a near-unending loop since the 1964 World's Fair--in moderation, one can see how people have seriously overexaggerated the annoyingness and creepiness of the song, but just imagine having to listen to it every day of your life for hours and hours on end for nearly 50 years. And with the added dark influence all over the place giving one big push, his mind finally broke.
Dear god, I went up against this boss a couple days ago for the first time at about 2am. I saw the starting cut scene and was about to NOPE my way out of there. Then got caught up in trying to beat the boss but ugh... this music...shuddery! My grandmother loves the 'It's a Small World' theme as well...I might have to show her this...
Some poor sound designer had to sit and listen to the It's A Small World music repeatedly in order to figure out how to make it into a boss battle theme. Now THAT is dedication to your job.
I played this game before even knowing about the ride, years later, I went to Disney World, and went on it's a small world. The whole time, it was bothering me because the clock tower looked familiar. It was only when I got home that I realized it was, as I put it then, "that one boss from Epic Mickey!"
I like to imagine that the clock guy is screeching about the stupid song meanwhile mickey is like a huge fan of the song and knows all the lyrics and is singing along
Every time I think of this game, this boss fight immediately comes to mind. I was immediately drawn to this bosses design and music as a kid because it intrigued me with the idea of such a friendly song and place to go so dark. Also the music is just oh so over dramatic
One of my favorite games on the original Wii back when it was still prominent, the Aurora of the game just had it's own Alice in wonderland feel to it but at the same time had an overjoyous tone. This and 2 were effin' amazing
So, I know nothing about the Epic Mickey games other than the fact that Mickey Mouse and Oswald are in them. Had I known that the Small World clocktower was a boss with a demented version of its theme playing in the background, I would have paid _much_ closer attention to the series over the years. Haha. Might have to watch a playthrough of it or something soon. :)
It's a bad world after all It's a bad world after all It's a bad world after all It's a bad bad world It's a world of violence A world of fear It's a world of slaughter A world of tears Everything's not same Are we in some kind of game? It's a bad world after all!
An original story concept for this boss fight did have the clock tower go mad because of listening to "It's A Small World" on a continuous loop. Mickey had to fight his way behind the face to destroy the record player that was playing the song. I wish the full concept of this game had come to fruition... the creators envisioned a 4-game story arc, but it got shut down after Epic Mickey 2 under-performed in sales.
All: Aaaaaaaaaaaaah! Mickey mouse: gosh what is that? Scar: See see Zazu I warned ya Zazu: You tricked me of singing it's a small world to drive the clocktower insane. Abraham Van Helsing: Oh no MONSTER! Bambi: That was fun! Faline: yeah let's try a...... Sebastian the crab: No! The clocktower had snapped he needs to calm down. You know woosa! Bambi( Gasps): Oh no father!
Madame ( Haunted mansion): Uh oh run! Bber Rabbit: Uh oh lookout! Swedish Cheff: The clocktower is headed towards Muppet 3d Muppets: Aaaaaaaaaaaaah! Kermit the frog: Don't look back don't look back! Run run!
This is just the Anaheim version. You wouldn't handle the Paris one. Not just because this Glockenspiel (that's its name) is bigger and louder. - It has expressions. And talks in French. - When you meet it, the sun side will look down on you and creep a half-smile. It'll say to Mickey, "So you're the Mouse King, huh? Come to clean my clock? Well, I don't need your help, vermin!" - The face and arms move faster. - It actually unironically _loves_ the song, but is hypnotized into murder - So it makes a beat out of its face ticks, coupling with the noises of its tower decorations to make a terrifying, fast-paced death metal version of the song. - It even slams its arms to the beat. The entire facade bumps along as well. - There is visible joy in its laughter if it manages to hit you. - Here and there, it'll drop a country pun relating to either Mickey's death, its superiority, torture, or other evil things, all in French. - The sun and moon theming stretches into its arms. - You can see and hear its pain when Mickey paints/thins the arms. - Mickey can't simply defeat it by painting/thinning the arms. That's only the first phase. - At the end of this phase, it'll remark, "I knew it. You thought that you'd win by shooting your little paintbrush at my arms." It'll then shake off the paint/grow them back and flip Mickey off. "That may have worked last time, but I'm simply better than my original. And so are my children." - Now in phase 2, from inside its timeteller, the real dolls from the ride will jump out, one for and from every country represented in every version of the ride. - Glocky will turn the arena ringular, with it at the center. It'll always face you as the facade bends around him. He'll still shake the ground with a clap, but paint/thinner won't affect his arms. - Plus, it plays a totally different, even more unerving song, in the same tempo. - The dolls are all desaturated, their clothes are torn, they have lost all goodness and they bear their weapon of choice. Yes, weapons. Brass knuckles, spears, miniguns, bows. - You can hear each doll's signature instrument (Swiss = Bells for example) add on to the music as they approach you. Get multiple near you at once, and you'll end up with a horrifying multinational remix. - Glocky will look delighted as the dolls beat you down. - The dolls all share Glocky's character and act like abandoned characters from TF2, complete with taunts. - No matter what Mickey hurts a doll, they'll never die. Thinning them will make them completely lose their color and turn them into motionless statues, their horror stuck on their face. Painting them will cause them to shake of the paint, get their colors and good nature back, salute Mickey, and fight off the other dolls with him. Like any other blotling, the paint will spread to the dolls they fight. - The whole time, Glocky is showing the appropriate reactions. Once all the dolls are dealt with, it'll reply more rage with "Useless brats." It'll rip their souls and imbue them into his mechanism, continuing on, "Time to bring out the stars!!!" becoming more humanoid and more powerful. - It turns the environment space-themed, with the universe brimming around. - The facade is split into pieces, all floating around in the vacuum, along with the scenery of the ride. - Now in phase 3 ,you fight on a spherical earth, with humanoid Glocky overlooking the planet with cosmic wavy arms and his face glowing. - The music becomes so much more traumatizing, fit for a cosmic horror story while still keeping the rock feel. - Its attacks will be either sun-based, moon-based, both, or neither, and the halves will glow to signify. - Just for good measure, it'll throw the cultural pieces at you too. - The represented countries will glow, and Mickey must step on them to create a rocket. - Mickey can fuel the rocket with only paint/thinner, and launch it into Glocky's face. - If the effects lean towards one side of morality, choosing the opposite will tick it a step back, so you need to go fully one way. - Painting Glocky will expand the sun side, while thinning it will expand the moon side. - Once fully painted/thinned, Glocky will respond with concern "Now you've done it Mick." Its face will spin full circle faster and faster before becoming a solar eclipse. - The music reaches peak paralyzation and metal. - The eclipse will suck in the scenery and Mickey, and he has to parry the former to reveal the source of Glocky's madness. - Like the original concept, destroying the source will end the battle. - If more than halfway thinning throughout the whole fight, Glocky will break down just like the original, complete with face boinging off and slamming onto the floor. The dolls will become nothing but steel endoskeletons. - If more than halfway painting, Glocky and the dolls will come to their senses, and apologize greatly for their antics. Mickey treats them with unprecedented respect and compassion, and they repay with showing the way to the next chapter. That crawled down your spine yet?
isn't this just "It's a small world" with the music sounding a bit more evil. And isn't the clock tower just the "It's a small World!" ride at Disneyland?
Mad world lyrics It’s a world of slaughter, a world of kills It’s a world of murder, a world of death There is blood everywhere and you better be aware It’s a mad world after all 3x it’s a mad world after all It’s a mad mad world

Some poor sound designer had to sit and listen to the It's A Small World music repeatedly in order to figure out how to make it into a boss battle theme. Now THAT is dedication to your job.
Jim Dooley.
To make a theme for the clock, *become the clock*
It's a Ruined World After All...
Don't lie. It totally is
It's a Wasteland after all?
Totally
no its a bloody world after all.
Steve Rogus
Toons don't bleed blood.
My favourite theme from Epic Mickey
The Ideal way to listen to "It's a small world after all" In my opinion
I'm probably the only person in the world who never found the original song annoying. I always enjoyed it and thought it was cute as a kid.
I thought the same way i still like it too I was actually surprised that people found the song annoying
epic mickey has such a cool concept and i hate the fact that disney hasn't done anything with it since the last game has been released
did anyone else just fall in love with the music and design of this boss when they first saw it?
If Disney met The Terminator
ConservativeClone66 what if someone made this guy as a secret boss in a game with its song
it may be the first boss but its my favorite. that theme plus his design. a happly clocktower gone evil and murderous.
I played this game before even knowing about the ride, years later, I went to Disney World, and went on it's a small world. The whole time, it was bothering me because the clock tower looked familiar. It was only when I got home that I realized it was, as I put it then, "that one boss from Epic Mickey!"
*me when someone says the 2nd game was better*
Gaming Pea shooter IKR
exactly
Same. I actually tell them, "Don't make me go ClockTower on your ass!"
Well thats their opinion-_-
Disney should make the clock tower look like this in Halloween with this music
I like to imagine that the clock guy is screeching about the stupid song meanwhile mickey is like a huge fan of the song and knows all the lyrics and is singing along
Every time I think of this game, this boss fight immediately comes to mind. I was immediately drawn to this bosses design and music as a kid because it intrigued me with the idea of such a friendly song and place to go so dark. Also the music is just oh so over dramatic
The darkest game I’ve ever played in my childhood. It crushed my childhood dreams and made them chase me with fear.
This would be the single greatest Smash stage in history.
True.
Bro this game is still fire
This game was such a gem
One of my favorite games on the original Wii back when it was still prominent, the Aurora of the game just had it's own Alice in wonderland feel to it but at the same time had an overjoyous tone. This and 2 were effin' amazing
Is it weird that the clock towers name is glockenspiel?
No why?
thats his name?
Gaming Pea shooter yep. It's cute!
Artist Of the stars i
*glock* enspiel
This sounds crazy, creepy, and goofy all at the same time... I love it.
Is it bad that I like this clock tower better than the real one...
No it's ok
Dont piss of the clock tower
This one is more realistic, because this one actually goes insane from listening to this song for so fuggin' long.
Nope
Nah, I prefer this one aswell
here's a fact how the its a small world turn out crazy because he listens to that song in 53 years that is Insane
No it’s 52 years
Naw that is 56 years to be exact I'm from 2022
Why was there a phonograph in his head in the first place?
So, I know nothing about the Epic Mickey games other than the fact that Mickey Mouse and Oswald are in them. Had I known that the Small World clocktower was a boss with a demented version of its theme playing in the background, I would have paid _much_ closer attention to the series over the years. Haha.
Might have to watch a playthrough of it or something soon. :)
if disney ever decides to make a small world halloween theme this should be the music playing in the background while on the ride
It's a bad world after all
It's a bad world after all
It's a bad world after all
It's a bad bad world
It's a world of violence
A world of fear
It's a world of slaughter
A world of tears
Everything's not same
Are we in some kind of game?
It's a bad world after all!
An original story concept for this boss fight did have the clock tower go mad because of listening to "It's A Small World" on a continuous loop. Mickey had to fight his way behind the face to destroy the record player that was playing the song. I wish the full concept of this game had come to fruition... the creators envisioned a 4-game story arc, but it got shut down after Epic Mickey 2 under-performed in sales.
Apparently painting his face also stops the phonograph.
I'm not sure if it's a good or a bad thing that I didn't know where the Clock Tower came from... until now.
I honestly don't blame the clock tower. It must be really sanity consuming to listen to the same song over and over for several decades.
But why was there a phonograph in his head?
This fits perfectly into the game.
FUN FACT: the music was originally supposed to have the lyrics to the song as well
NO! NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!
@@ponkypink3389 YES! YES! YES! >XD
@@flullama6235 Clocktower: that's it I had enough 0:00
Disney tour guide: ok here’s out famous it’s a small world ride and in the front is a clock tow-OH GOD! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!
Me: catchy music
All: Aaaaaaaaaaaaah!
Mickey mouse: gosh what is that?
Scar: See see Zazu I warned ya
Zazu: You tricked me of singing it's a small world to drive the clocktower insane.
Swedish Cheff: The clocktower is headed towards Muppet 3d
Muppets: Aaaaaaaaaaaaah!
Kermit the frog: Don't look back don't look back! Run run!
When Small World is stuck in your head and then you remember this version... I'm not suited for sane thinking today anymore.
It's a small world
Lets make It smaller
This is just the Anaheim version.
You wouldn't handle the Paris one.
Not just because this Glockenspiel (that's its name) is bigger and louder.
- It has expressions. And talks in French.
- When you meet it, the sun side will look down on you and creep a half-smile. It'll say to Mickey, "So you're the Mouse King, huh? Come to clean my clock? Well, I don't need your help, vermin!"
- The face and arms move faster.
- It actually unironically _loves_ the song, but is hypnotized into murder
- So it makes a beat out of its face ticks, coupling with the noises of its tower decorations to make a terrifying, fast-paced death metal version of the song.
And so are my children."
- Now in phase 2, from inside its timeteller, the real dolls from the ride will jump out, one for and from every country represented in every version of the ride.
2 years old and no question, I got one, this is just a straight up joke right? If so it would work well as creepy pasta or mod
I can't be the only one that has nostalgia for this game
I friggin love this game with all my heart.
For the actual song being ready annoying, this is fire 🔥
isn't this just "It's a small world" with the music sounding a bit more evil. And isn't the clock tower just the "It's a small World!" ride at Disneyland?
Affirmative
Bella Rubalcava yes, and after hearing small world for 54 years he fianly snapped
Yeah there is like some mix of happy and evil in this song
I mean can you imagine going to it’s a small world and All of a sudden the Clocktower ours goes crazy
Yep
Still remember epic Mickey in 2020 anyone
Ya know I wonder if Mickey never came and then eventually he'd get sick of his own theme and make an EVEN MORE demonic version of this song.
Interesting boss from an underrated game. #EpicMickey3
I feel like they should of put the clock tower boss in kingdom hearts along with this soundtrack
I want this song at my funeral as I'm lowers down
Mad world lyrics
It’s a world of slaughter, a world of kills
It’s a world of murder, a world of death
There is blood everywhere and you better be aware
It’s a mad world after all
3x it’s a mad world after all
It’s a mad mad world
Also called: "Who thought it was a great idea to make this, and can we have more people like them?"
I just got back from Disney World and have the urge to use an ungodly amount of thinner on this clock tower
Run it's the end of Disney world the clock tower has gone crazy!!!
A note from ElectricDragon505 says "Imagine if you're the clock tower, and you have to listen to the song 24/7, you will go a little bit something like this.
My childhood
Yeah I’d go insane if I had to hear the small world song on repeat for eternity
I’m an outmode after all,
I’m an outmode after all,
I’m an outmode after all,
One unfriendly and deadly outmode!
This epic mickey boss battle is blowing my mind away lol
This game was my childhood I wish they brought this game to Nintendo switch cuz then I would definitely play it more but sadly parents sold my Wii U😞😞😞
It's getting a remaster for the swicth
The vest Disney games are the one that fuck up your childhood. But not so much that it's basically EXE. I'd say this is one if the greatest games I've played
good music
I can't tell if he wanted to be killed, or wanted to get the song out of his head.
he was just possessed by shadow blot
Probably both
best boss of both games, I would even say this is my favorite boss ever the idea is great the music is perfect and I think its the best boss of ANY game of my opinion
